Josephine didn't understand business, but she knew that the Kalmien family's wealth had increased at least tripled since their marriage.
Even so, Todd was not satisfied.
Josephine put down her fork and stood up. "I'm done. I'll head back first. Take your time."
Todd roared behind her, "Don't forget what your grandmother told you before she passed away!"
Josephine froze for a moment, hesitated for a few seconds, and then left.
As soon as she arrived at the hospital, she received a call from Doris.
At first, seeing an unfamiliar number, she didn't want to answer, but her phone kept ringing, so she had to pick it up.
As soon as the call connected, Doris's voice, with a sob, came through. "Dr. Kalmien, please come quickly. Stuart is injured!"
Josephine hurried over and found that Stuart's hand had already been bandaged.
Seeing Josephine, he frowned. "Why are you here?"
Josephine glanced at Doris, didn't answer, and only asked, "How did this happen?"
"Mr. Haustia got hurt for protecting me," Doris sobbed. "He bled a lot."
"It's nothing," Stuart smiled. "This minor injury will be fine in a few days."
"Have you had it checked? Are the bones and ligaments okay?" Josephine frowned and asked coldly. "If it's a sharp object injury, you'll need a tetanus shot."
Doris sniffled. "Dr. Kalmien, you're so calm, unlike me. I don't know what to do when I see Mr. Haustia injured. I'm so worried."
Stuart glanced at Josephine.
Josephine's eyes were clear, her expression cold, showing no sign of worry.
In the end, Stuart went to the hospital with Josephine for an examination, and fortunately, there was no damage to the bones or ligaments.
Doris started crying again. "That's great. I would feel guilty for the rest of my life if Mr. Haustia had any problems. If that's the case, I would rather be the one injured."
"I'm here, I won't let you get hurt." Stuart spoke softly. "Don't cry. I'll take you out for a meal later."
"It's okay, you can go," Josephine stood up. "I have a meeting."
She finished speaking and left. Doris looked at her back and spoke to Stuart, "Is Dr. Kalmien angry?"
Stuart also stood up. "Don't overthink it."
As a result, as soon as he left the office, he saw Liam coming out of another office and directly putting his arm around Josephine's shoulder.
"Josephine!"
Stuart called her in a cold voice.
Josephine stopped, but didn't turn around.
It was Liam who turned around instead. "Oh, Mr. Haustia, why are you here at our hospital?"
After speaking, he went to see Josephine. "He came to find you?"
He hooked his arm around Josephine's shoulder and spoke, from a distance, as if he was about to kiss Josephine's cheek in the next second.
Stuart's face darkened, and he walked over, pulling Liam's arm.
Liam let out a scream, holding his arm.
Josephine immediately supported him, glaring at Stuart. "What are you doing?"
"What am I doing?" Stuart's voice was cold. "You're married, do you know? Your actions are inappropriate!"
"What's wrong with us?" Liam retorted. "When you were hugging another woman while seeking medical treatment, did you remember that you were married? Why do you ask Josie to do something you can't do yourself?"
"This is between Josephine and me." Stuart looked at him coldly. "It has nothing to do with you."
"I..."
"Liam." Josephine pulled him, then looked at Stuart. "Do you have anything else?"
From childhood to adulthood, Josephine and Liam had always been close.
Stuart's face was very dark. "Certain people should automatically leave when a couple is talking?"
Liam was about to get angry, but Josephine pulled him again.
He snorted and turned to leave.
Liam actually had a bad temper, but often, a single glance from Josephine would calm him down.
Stuart felt inexplicably annoyed. "You'll take care of changing my bandages later."
His wounds needed dressing every two days.
Josephine raised an eyebrow. "You're going to the hospital?"
"No," Stuart replied coldly. "At home."
Before he could finish, Doris appeared beside him. "Doesn't Dr. Kalmien still need to attend a meeting"
Josephine smiled faintly. "Yes, goodbye."
Stuart stared at Josephine's retreating figure in her work clothes, his eyes deep, revealing no emotion.
Doris felt a sudden unease and quickly took Stuart's arm. "Let's go back, shall we?"
During the meeting, Josephine seemed distracted.
Liam, sitting next to her, tapped her folder and whispered, "What's on your mind?"
Josephine smiled and shook her head.
Some things didn't need to be shared with Liam.
Otherwise, with his temper, he might end up fighting with Stuart.
The next day, Josephine left work early.
Today, it was time to change Stuart's bandages.
But by nine o'clock, Stuart still hadn't returned.
It seemed his words were just casual.
But she had taken them seriously.
She waited for him here.
Josephine's lips curled in a self-deprecating smile.
After she finished showering and blow-drying her hair, she heard movement in the hallway.
Stuart was back.
He saw her and headed inside, unbuttoning his shirt.
His wound had obviously been re-dressed.
Josephine, thinking he wouldn't be back, hadn't put on her usual cute and playful pajamas.
She was wearing a black silk nightgown, which accentuated her flawless skin.
There were no extra decorations on her, but her beautiful long hair, sexy collarbone, and the faintly visible breasts below the collarbone were enough to excite a man.
Stuart's gaze carried a scorching heat as it fell on her.
The nightgown she was wearing was different from her usual cute ones; today she looked especially charming and alluring.
Stuart's Adam's apple bobbed, and he reached out to pull her into his arms. "You dressed like this; how much did you miss me?"
Josephine thought, 'I thought you wouldn't come back, that's why I dressed like this.'
Stuart's hand on her waist was burning hot.
Josephine's hands pressed against his chest as she asked, "Did you change your bandages?"
Stuart lowered his head and kissed her earlobe. "You care about me so much?"
"You said you'd come home and let me change them."
His movements paused for a moment, then he casually said, "I forgot."
Before Josephine could say anything, he impatiently pinched her chin. "Focus more at this time."
Next, Josephine couldn't say a word.
Even her moans were interrupted by his actions.
The black silk nightgown, which she wore for the first time in front of him, was torn to pieces by him and fell to the floor in a miserable state.
After being tossed around by Stuart for an hour or two, Josephine was exhausted and fell into a deep sleep.
She was thinking, 'Does Stuart really like that dress?'
After a while, Josephine, who was half asleep, heard the sound of a phone ringing.
She reluctantly opened her eyes and saw Stuart answering the call.
"Okay, don't cry. I'll be right there."
