Chapter Nineteen
Kennedy's POV:
Robert was busy today. He had to go to work and would mostly be late later tonight. That meant me and Ella had the house to ourselves. I planned on having fun girl time, maybe taking her out for shopping later today when I was done with my work. But Ella had other plans, she woke up in her head space acting extremely small, that was just fine with me, she's a little baby after all.
But after lunchtime, I gave her cookies for dessert, knowing she'll ask for more later tonight after dinner I only gave her two, it's fair to give the little one four cookies a day. These are homemade by our housekeeper, meaning they aren't small in any shape or form but still Ella started acting up.
She whined, telling me she's been acting good today. But acting good doesn't give her access to more cookies. I ignored her and moved her to the nursery. My plan was maybe to breastfeed her and then get her to bed, she needs a nap, setting a schedule is always the hardest part of having a new little.
After trying to set her in her crib and her fighting me, screaming, crying, and kicking. I wasn't as strong as my husband she might be a small thing but she's not that small, I can carry her around but not when she's fighting me this badly. After almost dropping her again, I let her go, setting her on both her feet and landing a sharp slap to her bum. That made her freeze for a minute before she continued with her tantrum.
Slipping on the ground, crying, hitting the floor with both her fist and feet, and yelling over and over again.
"No sweep! No wanna!" she says. Where did my angel go?
If Robert were here, he'd pick her up and punish her right away. But I was the softer one in our relationship, lucky for her, so I left her on the floor until she tired herself out. Only then did I pick her up. I didn't want to punish her. This was our first day together, and this was her first tantrum ever.
I took her to the rocking chair and got my shirt off, she latched right on without a second thought, I kept her in my arms rocking her back and forth until she fell asleep, I moved her to the crib, now it was easy to carry her with her not fighting or crying.
I went back to my office and finished my work for today, even if I work from home, I try to give myself a time limit to how much work I do daily, especially with a little one that needs my attention. She didn't have work today, meaning I have to finish soon before she wakes up and be ready to play.
Famous last words, I didn't have the time to finish my work, my little one wasn't up and ready to play, she woke up in a bad mood. Crying in her crib until I picked her up, then cried again wanting to be set down on her feet, she took off inside the house, just running around and acting up.
"Ella you wanna play with Mommy?" I offer her to play with one of her many toys, but she was still acting up and said no.
"How about I take you out for a walk?" I ask then.
"Nu wanna," she replies with a big pout.
"Ella, I need you to settle down, how about TV?" I ask her she's begging for a punishment now.
"NU!" she says and starts running, I took after her but she was going down the stairs, it's when Ella stumbled and fell landing on her bum.
I had it enough with her, ignoring all my motherly instinct to make sure she's okay and cuddle her now, I dragged her to my office, took the toys out of her playpen, and sat her inside it. It was made for Little like her, too high to be climbed out or jumping out of it, she cried even more when she saw where I'm setting her.
I left her in the playpen and went to call my husband on the verge of tears, thankfully he did answer me right away, sometimes he gets too busy to even answer his phone.
"You okay, Ken?" he asks knowing something was wrong right away.
"Ella is acting out, I have her in time out in the playpen. I don't know what happened to the little angel," I tell him honestly.
"I'm so sorry, Ken. Honey, just try to act firm with her. She needs to know you're the one in charge. Okay, baby? I promise to give you cuddles when I'm back," he says, making me smile. I hate acting this firm with her but I had too.
After fifteen minutes, I went to pick Ella out. She was sitting in one of the playpen corners crying.
"Ella, if you misbehave Momma will have to punish you. Now come here and give me a hug," I start firmly, but my last words were said softly. She turns to me, her lip wobbling, she nods but come close to hug me thankfully, maybe now she won't act out for the rest of the day.
