Under control
Under control
It took them almost a hour to get back to the house. They had to almost carry Winnie to the house. She had informed them that she had taken on the name right before coming to the earth side of things. Growing stronger as we went, it took her a while to get her full strength back. Just like Hem it took him two days to get most of his strength back. Alex was hoping that Winnie would get it back sooner rather than later. The moment they entered the house Scoob and Shingles came to check on Winnie. They whined as she groaned when we laid her on the couch.
"I'm okay boys." Winnie whispered to the dogs. He gave them both pats.
"Would you like something to drink or eat?" Hem asked as he paced the room.
"A drink would be great, thanks." Winnie smiled at him.
Alex watched as Hem left the room to get something to drink and most likely eat. The man had always been great with people. Taking care of them was his calling. Alex had been blessed to have him in his life. Alex took a sit on the chair across from Winnie to keep an eye on her. She was like a child to him even though she could kick his ass.
"So how bad is bad?" Alex asked when he saw Hem coming into the room with a tray full of food and drink.
The moment he put the tray down Winnie dug into the food and drink. Alex watched as she ate all the food and drank most of the drink. Hem handed Alex a cup to drink out of warm blood. He drank it down letting the others eat and drink in calm. Things always seemed to keep going on no matter the horror that might or might not happen. Alex hoped this wouldn't be another war. Then again by what Winnie told him the other side was hurting more than the humans. So he sat waiting on the others.
"Crystal is still well, her armor kept her safe. Others however weren't so lucky. The Wolf is still holding on like others. This thing has really turned the fae on their heads. Thankfully your letter told us what would help. When I was on my way to you they had already treated over a hundred. I told them to wait for me get those that are most in need." Winnie told them. "Thankfully I got to the barrier in time to find you. I am greatful that you saved me. I didn't really expect to live through it."
"Do they know who started it?" Hem asked putting the plates and cups on the tray.
"Some think it was a relative to the queen. No one is for sure however. Most of the ones that touched, used or attacked with the poison are dead." Winnie explained. "So no war, thankfully."
Alex didn't think for a moment that it was all over. No one that took this much trouble to kill someone would stop unless they where dead. That kind of hate always grew with those that had the same thoughts. A worry came over him about Crystal, he knew that she could take care of herself. Trouble was she sometimes didn't see the trouble until it hit her on the head. She had those around her that would fight for her, but who would protect her from herself. Alex didn't say any of this out loud because he didn't want to cause a fight with Winnie.
"I can't stay for long, I told her I would be back soon." Winnie told him with a sigh.
"It will take at least two days for you get the strength back." Hem told her giving her shoulder a pat.
"I would hope that if she needed help she would ask." Alex told Winnie.
"She won't bring you over there. I can tell you that now. She worries that you would fall into the magic that is the fae. It is why she sent me to tell you that no matter what you aren't supposed to come over there. She has it all in hand, and you need to do your own thing on this side of the barrier. The fae here in the human world have been told if they need help to come to you." Winnie looked at him giving him the look he had given her.
Alex couldn't help but laugh as she tried to get him to listen. Winnie was a great student in truth, she took to the power like it was second nature. Which in truth was in many ways. Alex looked her over then smiled. He would do what Crystal asked but he didn't have to like the idea at all. That would mean that more fae would know where he lived. The reason for the house and location was so no one would know. Now he would be welcoming fae for wwhat ever reasons.
"I am not happy that a bunch of fae will know where my house is. I do love a few fae, but not all. To much power in one place can draw something more powerful." Alex said with a sigh.
"Well I don't think many will want to come to you. They don't care much for vampires. It would only be if they are in trouble. Though it might take them being almost dead that would bring them here." Winnie told him with a sigh. "Hem would be the first to find them, so it should keep you out of it."
"I know they fear vampires because your blood smells and taste amazing." Alex told her with a wicked smile. "I have only really tasted it a few times. Mostly just drops int he tea. Other than the time I attacked Hem. I felt horrible about it, almost died because I felt bad."
"The whole thing was horrible." Hem told him with a sigh. "He was out of his mind, and attacked Takayla when she cut her arm. That brought on the blood lust and I was stupid enough to get in the way. In the end it didn't really matter he almost killed her. Thankfully we got it under control and Takayla lived through it."
"You attacked them? I couldn't see you doing that." Winnie knew Alex as the level headed man who helped her deal with her own demons. "I guess even the best can lose control of what is going on in their lives."
"I regert what I did. I still do and don't trust myself in a room alone with Takayla any longer. She doesn't believe for a moment that I would harm her again, but I can't make that type of promise." Alex felt ashamed of himself.
"That is why you are strong. You can admit to that feeling. It changed you in a good way, you care for humans. Takayla would never want to believe that you would harm her. It was a horrible situation." Winniw smiled at him as she drank some tea.
