Wounds that don't heal
Wounds that don't heal
Alex coudn't believe that Crystal was here, it was strange that she would come to this barrier. He did wonder if she knew what happened to force this barrier to break. It took over three hours to clean up the mess at the lake. Most of the fae stayed to watch to make sure nothing came into this world that would harm the humans. Trouble was the magic that was flowing from the whole was already doing this to the area. There would be no hiding it soon, the humans would notice and that would cause trouble.
"We have to seal this barrier quickly." Crystal called out to the others. "Anyone that wants to stay on this side is welcome. Others please come to this side now. This barrier will still be the door to both realms."
None of the fae on the human side went back to the fae. The ones that came out of the barrier went back in. The Wolf went with The Queen. Soon the barrier that had been open closed, but it felt different. The area was sill growing strange plants, a few strange fish were swimming in the lake. Alex stood watching as the fae wondered around the lake, the clearing was full of things that shouldn't be here. They would have to clean it up before someone found it. Trouble was how do you clean up the area if magic was still leaking from the barrier. Alex wondered if Crystal knew that this barrier wasn't sealed all the way.
"Hem, that barrier isn't closed all the way." Alex pointed toward the barrier. "It is leaking magic."
"Once a barrier is broken, it is very hard to seal it all the way again. This area will be rich in fae magic now. I don't know how they will hide it however. Glamour isn't going to hide it all. Might be able to out up a warning type spell. It will make humans fear the area. Which would make things better for a while." Hem explained as he walked with the other fae clearing out the plants that would harm others.
Alex couldn't really help in this, he didn't know what to do that would help. So he watched as the fae cleaned up the area. The puffy and rain type flowers were still around, but the hiss flowers where all gone. He wasn't sure what would happen now. After around five hours they finally had the clearing cleaned up enough that things wouldn't stand out right away. Leaving the area with Hem they spoke about what to do about the fae and the barrier.
"This is going to change the human world. No way it will stick to one area." Alex told Hem as they entered the house.
"It might just stay in the area. So many areas have barriers like those, of course they don't normally break. I am wondering what broke it." Hem had been thinking about what could have caused it.
As they entered the house he caught site of Misha coming down the stairs. A bright smile crossed her lips then fell almost as fast.
"What happened to you two?" Misha rushed over to him checking the wounds.
"The barrier broke between Fae and the Human realm." Alex told her feeling a sting on his cheek. "I'm fine."
"How the hell did that happen?" Misha asked looking worried.
"We aren't sure. The Queen appeared at the barrier covered in blood. She closed it back but it is leaking magic." Alex told her taking her hand in his.
"You saw Crystal?" Misha pulled her hand away from his. "How is she?"
"No idea, didn't really talk to her." Alex didn't understand what was wrong with her.
"I see, so does this mean she will be back?" Misha asked crossing her arms over her chest.
"She is the Queen. No way she is coming back here." Alex pulled her toward him. "Besides I don't want her here. She needs her people...I don't. Well expect Hem."
"It only took you almost three hundred years to get over her." Hem mumbled as he went into the kitchen.
"I still love her, but in more a friend. I know that makes little sense but she was my maker." Alex told her kissing her cheek then her neck.
"Now stop that." Misha told him smacking his shoulder but didn't move away.
"If you want." Alex pulled away from her to head to the kitchen to clean up his face.
When he entered the kitchen he saw that Hem had a cut on his chest. He went over to help him clean it. Why hadn't his wound not healed when Crystal healed everyone else? Hem grunted when Alex helped to clean the wound. Putting a bandage on the wound he stepped back looking at Hem. Something wasn't right about this.
"Why didn't it heal?" Alex asked helping to clean up.
"I am not sure, it is partly healed. I can tell that much. It still throbs like it is still being cut. It isn't bleeding any longer and I didn't even notice it till I got home." Hem told Alex as he sat down feeling a little dizzy.
"I think a letter needs to be sent to the queen about it. How many others where harmed when that barrier broke." Misha looked between the two of the them.
"I can try to send a letter, but no idea if it would get to her." Alex sighed as he sat down with Hem.
After twenty mintues they finally had a letter to send to the queen. Alex went to the barrier again and found a man standing there looking around. When he saw Alex he stopped walking. He was wearing armor so he was sure that he was with the queen. He walked up to him holding out the letter.
"If possible can you get this letter to the queen from Alexander. She will know who I am and most likely expects the letter. We have a problem that she needs to know about." Alex handed the letter over to the man who turned toward the barrier pushing it through.
"It will take at least a day for the letter to get to her. You can stay here or go home. Up to you really." The man told him going back to pacing back and forth in front of the barrier.
Why would she put a gaurd at the barrier? Was something else going on that they didn't know about? Alex decided to go ahead and go home, that if she wanted to give him any news she would find her own way. Once in the house again Alex went to his library to look through his old books. Maybe he could find something that would help them.
