Broke Barrier
Broke Barrier
Things always seem to build to a point that you can't help but watch the cracks appearing in the walls. This happened to be one of those times. Alex could see the cracks appearing the barrier by the lake. They had come to the lake to after Hem said he felt something was off. The Wolf came with them but he seemed to be in shock over what he was seeing. This barrier had been up for a millina or longer. No one could recall a time that it hadn't stood between the human world and the Fae. If it broke all hell would break lose in the human world. There wasn't a thing anyone on this side of that barrier could do to stop it. As they stood there people started to appear, each looking on in horror. Alex hadn't known that many fae lived on this side of the barrier.
"What's happening?" Was the question heard over and over again.
A few looked horrified that the barrier was cracking. We could only stand and watch as holes appeared in the wall over the lake. After an hour warriors started to show up, full gear as they stood at the barrier looking ready for the war that would spill out of that barrier. The Wolf hadn't healed all the way so he was staggering as he pulled out a sword, where he had it hidden Alex didn't know.
"Has there ever beena time that the barrier didn't stand?" Alex asked Hem as they stood watching the barrier.
"So long ago no one really knows what happened or how the barrier had come to be. Just that so much death and horror came from the fae to the human world." Hem looked around them and saw a few that he knew from his time in the Fae.
"Tiarsus Waescaryn is that you?" A young woman came over to him, her long hair was white with stricks of red in it.
"Aye it is I." he told her giving her a hug, which wasn't normal for the Fae. "Been a long time."
"Do you know what happened?" She asked looking between Hem and the barrier.
"Not sure, we know that The Wolf had been on this side hunting for wild magic. Then something happened. A young pup came over here, how she got here we aren't sure. Alex helped her to control her power over here. When The Wolf got hurt she went on the hunt on the other side." Hem explained as he watching the barrier.
"The Wolf as in the hunter?" She looked around with fear in her eyes.
"Yes, I have no idea what could have harmed him in the way he was harmed. He is one of the stronger fae. Granted there are more that are powerful. They are locked up." Hem told her looked at the berrier with fear.
"This is going to change the world as we know it." Alex told Hem as he looked at the man. "I didn't know this many fae where on this side."
They all looked at the barrier as another hole appeared letting the magic from that side to drain to the human world. Flowers of all kind appeared around the lake, some no human would ever even heard of. Alex stepped back as a flower appeared by his feet. Hem moved his hand over it and it vanished in a hiss. Alex looked up at him in shock. He had never seen the man use magic.
"You...You just.." Alex studdered at Hem with a look of wonder.
"I don't use the magic to often because it isn't needed here. Over there however it is an everyday battle. That was a snake planet. It likes to bite which will poison you then kill you." Hem explained as others started killing planets that appeared.
"Are there any that are benefical?" Alex looked around at the puffy planets that the fae left alone. Another that looking like rain falling.
"Yes, the puffy planets are great for upset stomach, heart burn. The other one that looks like rain is a...Well it helps with so many things. It won't thrive here however." Hem told him as he picked a few of the puffy planets. A bag appered that he put the plants in.
"If this barrier goes, what will happen to the human world?" Alex asked looking worried.
"Not really sure, the magic has been sealed off for so long. The barrier wasn't always there but the human Fae war did a number on both sides. The king of the time sealed us into the world. To keep both sides safe really. I think the thought was that it would come down at some point. It didn't however work that way." Hem told him watching as others collected the planets.
At that moment the barrier buldged then blew out. Shards of the barrier blew through the people standing by the lake. Some where cut a few died from shardes of what looked like glass sliced through them. Alex had been far enough away that he didn't get hit. Hem looked up at horror when a horde of wolf type creatures started to come through the barrier. The fae started fighting to keep them in the area. Not letting them go further into the human world. The ground was covered in blood within minutes. The human side of the barrier had won that round but Alex knew it wouldn't last. They didn't have enough fighters to keep this up.
"This is bad!" The Wolf spoke beside him. "To much power at once time can kill the world it is going into."
"What can be done?" Alex didn't know if they could fix this. The barrier had been put up by the fae king at the time. He had been powerful enough to put it up with little help. "I am not sure that there is anyone powerful enough to raise it again."
"That is where you are wrong. The Queen is that powerful. She was the daughter of the late king who raised it to start with." Hem told Alex then laughed at the look on his face.
"You are saying Crystal is very old." Alex said without a thought.
"Alexander Chetwood how dear you call me old." Crystal spoke from the barrier dressed in armor, blood think on the breast plate. Her blond hair had grown past her ass.
"Crystal, You look amazing. Well minus the blood." Alex told him with a bright smile.
"Well that pup you sent back to me was a great help. You taught her well, which meant we had a little bit of a heads up when this started. We still didn't get to the barrier in time to save it. The Wolf come to me." Crystal waved a hand over the fae gathered.
Alex watched in wonder as she healed those that came to her. The Wolf being the last but she couldn't heal his wound all the way. It had been done by a dark faes blade that had some kind of poison in it. The Wolf didn't seem to care much.
