Rage maybe
Rage maybe
As a human, Alex would never have thought that he would be here in this world at this time. Seeing the changes and the way things had changed for the better. Cases came and went as Alex kept going through it. Advances in the medical field always made Alex think that one day things would be much better than they are now. Death seemed to take over lives, and Alex hated it. Trouble was, it was part of life. Sitting at his desk in his office, he looked at the pictures on the wall. They ranged from all over the world. Snow, rain, much more in the terms of weather. Alex smiled brightly at the pictures, seeing those that had come into his life over the years. Paintings of his wife, and son hung in cases to keep the paint from being harmed. Bookshelves lined two of the three walls, pilled high with books. Though the shelves were over following with books, his desk was neat and clean. Everything in its place and a place for everything when it came to his desk.
The papers on the desk were spread out so Alex could see what he had come across. As he glanced at the desk, he saw the papers that followed the dog track bets that Mr. Rosen had chosen. It took him longer than it should have to see the names. Lady Grace, Rum Runner, Penny Pincher, Turbo Arrow, West Bolt. So he wasn't just picking names, it was giving someone a code. Alex looked it through again then figured that it had to deal with a woman, but she needed money. It was needed to be fast and out of the west. Reaching out, he grabbed the phone to let Grant know what he had found. The phone rang and rang, but no answer. When Alex looked at the clock, he sighed, it was too early for him to be in. So he would get some sleep, then let him know about the things that he found.
"Alex, you need to sleep." Crystal called as she entered her room.
"I am heading that way now." Alex called back to her. "Night."
When he woke the next night, he could hear the phone ringing. Alex jumped up out of the bed, heading toward the phone. It stopped ringing as he left his room. A moment later, Crystal handed him the phone. Letting him know that it was the cop. Alex chuckled at the way she talked about the cops like they didn't matter even a little. He would guess, to her they didn't matter at all. They are human, after all.
"Grant, glad you called. I have found something. I think he was using code with the names of the dogs. Not sure who he was sending the code to, but he for sure was using a code. It seemed some woman would in trouble. That or they took one, not sure which." Alex explained as he turned toward Crystal waving for a pad and pen.
"Here, you really should leave some on the table by the phone." Crystal handed me a small pad and a pen.
Alex just shrugged at her with a half smile. He wrote down what Grant was telling him. So far they had found that he had been stabbed almost forty times. A few of the wounded had two entrances. This was rage, whoever killed him was full of rage. It would take a lot of strength to do this. Alex was sure that the person who killed him would have been bathed in blood. So would the place they killed him. It wasn't unheard of for people to go into a blind rage and kill. In his past, he had seen a woman go into a rage over a man touching her daughter. There was blood all over the place, the woman had blood all over her. Head to toe blood, but she didn't give up till the man was dead. In a stupor she went home, bathed it all off, going about her life like nothing happened. Of course, everyone that had seen it knew, but didn't say a thing to the cops when they came asking. After a while they stopped asking because other's came forward telling the cops about the things he did to them. In the end, she had saved so many girls from harm. The woman ended up in a mental hospital a year later when her daughter had a child. The child happened to be the man's. The daughter hadn't told her mother the whole truth.
"Rage killing is my guess. People can black out and not know just what they are doing. Thing is, what would he have done to deserve this." Alex told him thinking it over, maybe the man had tried to help the woman that he was sending code about and the person who wanted her was pissed because of it. That however didn't spell blind rage kill. Maybe a killing, but not the overkill. "Well, he pissed someone off."
"I agree on the rage killing. Not sure on the woman thing though, didn't know about it till now. Will look into it. Don't forget to bring that stuff down here." Grant told Alex then hung up the phone.
"It seems strange that this man who seemed to be all about helping people finds himself dead." Alex told Crystal as he walked into the kitchen.
"Always a woman at work." Crystal laughed at the look I gave her. "I recall that woman you told him about. That lady lost it then never got it back."
"I can't say that it was a woman, possible of course. I always felt bad for her and what her family went through." Alex told her as he went back to the bathroom to brush his teeth. After he got dressed to bring the items to Grant. "I will be back in a little while."
Alex smiled as he went out of the door to head toward the police station. When he entered the station, several of the cops wave and yelled hello to him. He threw his hand up to wave to each of them. When he came to the office that Grant used, he knocked. Grant told him to come in, he pushed the door, then closed the door behind him. Alex put the bags on the desk for him.
"Here are the things I found. I can tell you that the scarp of the shirt has blood on it. Also, the card I am not sure what it is." Alex explained with a sigh. "I have been following this man for a while and never saw him touch or talk to women without a man in the room with him. Not sure how he would have pissed someone off to this point. That or he just got in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sadly it does happen."
"We will look into it and see what happens. So many people are in the wrong place and time." Grant looked at the bags then to Alex. "You do good work."
