Chapter 135 - Opportunity

Chapter 135 - Opportunity
Chapter 33 - Opportunity

Lucien Virell POV

The red moon crawled across the sky like an open wound, and the air around the temple tasted of iron and incense.

Every shadow stretched long and whispered my name. Every vein in the stone pulsed with power, and the very heartbeat of the realm thrummed beneath Seraphyne and me.

I lay back against the silken furs, with Seraphyne’s cool hands sliding across my chest as she straddled me. Her pale hair cascaded around us like strands of starlight drowned in blood. Her fangs grazed my throat, teasing, testing, and savoring.

She lowered herself onto me with a slow, deliberate slide, her body enveloping mine in a grip of velvet heat that bordered on torment. I gripped her thighs, my nails biting into her unyielding flesh, guiding her deeper and harder, each thrust upward a claim on her darkness as much as her form.

She arched above me, her breasts swaying like forbidden fruit, and her inner walls clenching in rhythmic malice, milking me with a precision born of centuries of predation.

"You are trembling," she whispered, her voice thick with desire, leaning forward to drag her tongue along my jaw, tasting the salt of my restraint.

"I'm anticipating," I murmured, surging into her with a force that wrenched a hiss from her lips. Her nails raked my shoulders, carving crimson trails that wept blood, the pain a spark igniting our shared corruption.

She rode me with increasing ferocity, her body slamming down to meet mine, the wet slap of skin echoing like incantations in the shadowed chamber. Our magics intertwined mid-thrust, a coiling braid of shadow and flame that amplified every sensation, sending jolts of profane ecstasy racing through our veins.

Her fangs pierced my collarbone then, not gently, but with the hunger of a conqueror, drawing blood that she lapped in greedy pulls while her hips ground against me in merciless circles.

I retaliated by flipping her beneath me in one fluid motion, pinning her wrists above her head with one hand, the other sliding between us to circle her sensitive clit, my fingers slick and insistent. She bucked against my palm, a low growl rumbling from her throat, and her legs wrapped around my waist to pull me impossibly deeper.

I drove into her relentlessly, each plunge a vow of ruin, our bodies slick with sweat and the faint sheen of ritual oils, and the air was thick with the musk of our depravity.

Whispers of Raelith's name escaped us unbidden, gasped between her moans and my grunts, like profane prayers fueling the rhythm. Her eyes, black as the void, locked onto mine, her pupils dilated with the thrill of our villainy, reflecting the monster we mirrored in each other.

She clenched around me tighter, her climax building in shuddering waves, her nails scoring my back until rivulets of blood trickled down my spine, mingling with hers. I chased her release with thrusts that bordered on brutality, my free hand tangling in her hair to yank her head back, exposing her throat for my own bite, my teeth sinking deep, and her essence flooding my mouth like corrupted wine.

She shattered first, a convulsion ripping through her that arched her spine like a bowstring snapping, her cry a guttural invocation that vibrated against my skin. The force of it dragged me over the edge, my own release exploding in hot pulses, our magics flaring in a brief corona of crimson light that scorched the furs beneath us. We collapsed together, still joined, our breaths ragged and synced in the aftermath of our unholy sacrament.

And then....A cold breath slid through the room. The candles guttered. The ground beneath us trembled, a heartbeat not our own.

A whisper slid into my skull like a blade made of smoke.

“Lucien.”

My breath hitched.

The voice was everywhere and nowhere, ancient and bright and rotting at its center. Seraphyne stiffened against me, gasping softly as she felt the power wash over us.

The shadows thickened. My blood turned to frost.

Raelith.

I went perfectly still as Her voice unfurled inside me.
“Elowen has entered the divine realm,” Raelith purred, her tone something between a lullaby and a death sentence.

“The gods think they have her. They think they are safe.”

Seraphyne lifted her head slowly, her eyes wide and shining with awe.

The whisper deepened, coated in velvet rot.

“They are wrong.”

A pulse of dark ecstasy crackled along my bones. I shivered.

Raelith’s voice grew sharper.

“While she is away, the realm stands weak. This is the moment we have waited for. You will strike the children.”

My throat tightened. “The… Velmira heirs?”

A soft laugh, like bones cracking underwater.

“Yes. The twins.”

Seraphyne’s breath hitched. “My Queen,” she whispered.

The shadows around us coiled upward like serpents.

“Two vampire girls have pledged their souls to Me,” Raelith crooned.

“They serve willingly. Eagerly. They hold the hybrid boys hostage as we speak.”

My heart thudded once. Then again. Slower. Seraphyne and I exchanged a look, hunger, triumph, and devotion.

Raelith continued.

“I want their blood. I want their power. I want the dragon girls their souls cling to.”

A hiss slithered through my skull.

“Bring them to me, Lucien. Bring me the sisters of prophecy.”

Seraphyne pressed herself against me, trembling, her eyes blown wide with rapture.

“We will obey,” I breathed, my voice nearly breaking under the pressure of Her presence.

“We will obey, my Queen,” Seraphyne echoed.

The air snapped like a breaking spine.

“Good.”

The whisper faded… but its residue crawled through the room like smoke that knew my name. Seraphyne exhaled sharply and collapsed against me again, breath shaking.

I held her close, but my gaze had already drifted toward the doorway.

A different hunger filled my chest now. A colder one. A sacred one. The hunger of a chosen disciple.

“Get dressed,” I murmured, brushing my thumb across her lower lip. “We move tonight.”

She slid off me gracefully, her bare feet whispering across the stone as she fetched our clothing. When she fastened the high collar of my crimson coat, her fingers trembled with anticipation.

“We’re really doing this,” she whispered.

“Yes.”

“Finally.”

Her smile curved, wicked and adoring.

“We will spill the blood of royalty,” she breathed.

“No,” I corrected softly.

“We will deliver the heirs alive. Raelith wants their power intact. Their screams untouched. Their immortality… ripened.”

Seraphyne shivered.

I cupped her face, tilting it up. “Ready?”

She nodded fiercely. We left our chamber and descended the obsidian steps into the war sanctum. The Order of the Crimson Vein waited below. Fifty hybrid monsters, part vampire, part warlock, part shadow beast, lifted their heads in unison as I entered.

Eyes glowing red, blue, gold, and void. Creatures shaped by ritual. Molded by blood. Bound to me.

“Brothers,” I said softly, my voice echoing across the vaulted stone.

“Sisters.”

A low growl rippled through the room. They pressed fists to their hearts. They bared their fangs.

Seraphyne stepped beside me, her chin held high, and power burning in her eyes.

“Tonight,” I said, “Raelith rises.”

A frenzy of snarls erupted. The walls trembled. I lifted a hand, and silence fell instantly.

“The dragon twins will be delivered to Her,” I continued.

“They are in the academy, preparing for the assembly. The wards will be lowered for us.”

Seraphyne smirked. “Two of the students, Katrina and Chelsea, have pledged themselves to Raelith. They will open the barrier from within.”

Murmurs hissed across the chamber.

“They have already taken the Velmira hybrid princes,” I said. “The boys are unconscious. Hostages. Their lives are leverage.”

“The girls will come running,” Seraphyne added.

“Straight into our snare.”

I paced slowly before our legion.

“You will not kill the heirs,” I commanded. “You will not harm them. You will not touch their blood.”

I smiled sharply.

“That honor belongs to Raelith.”

A unified snarl filled the sanctum.

The hybrids stamped their weapons against the stone, spears made of bone and shadowglass, scythes and claws grown from ritual markings carved into their arms.

The room vibrated with bloodlust.

Seraphyne leaned into my shoulder and whispered, “They are ready.”

“Good.”

I lifted both hands.

The stone beneath our feet lit up with glowing crimson sigils, and ancient runes pulsing with Raelith’s breath.

The hybrids dropped to their knees. Power surged upward like a geyser of lightning and dread.
Seraphyne and I inhaled it together, our bodies drinking the magic as though it were wine. Raelith’s whisper fluttered through the room once more.

“Go.”

The candles blew out. Darkness swallowed everything. And then, A column of red flame spiraled around us. A portal tore open, leading straight toward the academy’s shadowed outskirts.

Seraphyne grinned with her fangs bared.

“The assembly begins in an hour,” she said.

“Perfect timing.”

I extended my hand to her. She took it with a reverent bow.

“For us,” she whispered.

“For Raelith,” I corrected. “For destruction.”

We stepped into the portal. Our army followed.

And the world held its breath.

Katrina POV

Dragging the boys around wasn’t exactly elegant, but watching Lucen drop like a stone had been the highlight of my week.

He hit the floor first, all muscle and confusion and then nothing. Just… out.

Rhaen followed a breath later, his eyes rolling back, and his lips parting like he wanted to shout my name in outrage. Too slow. Too weak.

They looked perfect sprawled there. Strong. Helpless. Mine.

Chelsea stood beside me, trembling with the rush of power Raelith fed us. It burned through our veins like molten iron, sharp and vicious, but gods… it felt divine.

“She’s right,” Chelsea whispered, brushing her fingers over Rhaen’s jaw. “He’s heavier than he looks.”

“Worth every bruise,” I said, raising my glowing palm. “They never should’ve thrown us away.”

Chelsea nodded, her smile sharp. “They should’ve stayed with us.”

The sigil carved into my skin pulsed blood-red, hot enough to blister. I held my hand over Lucen’s chest and whispered the spell Raelith taught me in my dreams.

“Ferrum vinculis sanguinis. Claudere. Tene. Domare.”

Blood magic poured out of my palm in shimmering ribbons, wrapping his wrists, his shoulders, and his throat. The magic crawled into him like living chains.

Chelsea muttered the same spell over Rhaen, her voice shaking with excitement.

The boys didn’t so much as twitch.

“Let’s move,” I said.

We grabbed their wrists and dragged them out of the suite, down the back hall, and out into the night. The cold air snapped at my skin, but the borrowed magic made the world feel soft, easy to bend.

The forest loomed ahead, dark and still. Even the trees leaned away from us. They could sense Raelith through our blood.

When we reached the ward line, the glowing barrier hummed like a giant heartbeat. Ancient fae magic. Unbreakable.

Unbreakable for normal girls.

Chelsea pulled the stolen scroll from her pocket. Her breathing hitched. “Ready?”

“I was born ready,” I said, and I meant it.

We locked hands, lifted our palms, and recited the forbidden words.

The air tore open with a shriek. Power lashed around us, slicing across my skin in ribbons of heat and ice.
Magic screamed against magic.

The first crack ripped through the ward wall like a lightning strike.

Chelsea gasped, “It’s working!”

The crack widened...then spread.....then shattered.

The entire shimmering barrier exploded outward in a rain of dying starlight.

A gaping hole yawned open across the academy’s defenses, wide enough for an army.

I felt myself grin, wicked and victorious.

“Well,” I said, stepping back from the wreckage. “Time to let the monsters in.”
