Chapter 78 The Alpha
Chapter 78 The Alpha
ELARA
My eyelashes flickered and slowly adjusted to the golden hue that has now illuminated my room.
I stretched lazily, while moaning softly.
Kael chuckled.
I had no idea he was around even though I knew he was the one behind the curtains being hurled up.
“Good morning,” he grinned.
I feigned a smile.
“Good morning” I sat up.
After my weird dream the previous night, he had suggested sleeping in his room but I turned it down immediately.
Not with that wide eyed girl called Misella still in the house.
She's been hovering everywhere and acting like she owns the place.
“I have some good news” Kael beamed, revealing his faint dimple.
My eyes danced over him, patiently waiting for him to spill.
“You're going back to school”he announced seamlessly, like it was the best thing he had done all year.
I stared puzzled, then slowly broke into a smile.
“Really?” I squealed.
He nodded, smiling.
I got up the bed immediately and jumped right into his arms.
He held me and we embraced for a few minutes.
The door suddenly barged open. I turned to see Misellas’s piercing eyes.
My heart leaped.
I quickly disengaged from the hug and went back to my bed.
She said nothing and just walked away.
Kael looked confused and angry. He went after her, leaving me to sort out my thoughts.
Why had I done that? I guess because Kael has been so good to me.
It was on impulse.
I didn't hear any sounds so I assumed Kael hadn't confronted her.
Misella was the least of my problems as I was so excited to finally be going back to school.
I hurriedly went to the bathroom to bathe and get ready.
I couldn't wait to see Sonia and Sophie again, and the guys.
It's been close to a month and Misella had been here for only three days.
The thought of her made me roll my eyes again.
When I left the bathroom, I rummaged through my wooden closet for a dress.
It just had to be a dress and I had one in mind- a black, open back dress that stopped a little below my kneel and brought out all my curves.
I smiled just as my hands touched the fluffiness of something
Bingo!.
I flung it on the bed and brought out a clean towel to dry my hair.
Between moisturizing my skin, doing a little makeup, applying minimal jewelry, putting on my dress and sandals and tying my hair in a messy bun- it all didn't take up to thirty minutes.
I was swift- perks of wanting to go back to school so badly.
As if on cue, a knock came at the door.
I smiled, mostly at the fact that Kael would openly walk in while I was sleeping, but he's knocking now that I'm wide awake.
It made me a little queasy.
“ I'm all dressed and ready to go” I twirled happily, holding out my gown for him to see.
I saw the quick glint in his eyes before the dark glow consumed them again.
My shoulders dropped.
Something was wrong.
“Uhm…there is a little issue” he itched his brows.
What now?? Don't tell me it's Misella.
That girl has been on my neck since she got here.
So she's Kael's childhood friend, so what? Isn't he allowed to have other friends as he grows up?.
I folded my arms over my breasts.
“My dad summoned me, so I'm not sure I will be able to take you to school today” his tired eyes begged, dancing around me.
“That’s not a problem. I know the way” I told him.
He shook his head vigorously.
“No, no, I don't want you in this woods by yourself. Never!” He almost yelled.
I took a step backwards.
Okay!.
“ It's not a big deal”
“It is!” he was yelling now.
He managed to calm himself a little and returned his gaze to me.
“I think Misella went to see my father,” he informed me.
I scoffed.
Misella again.
“What did she say??”
“I have no idea” Kael looked frustrated, his fingers had been in his hair for a while now, creating a huge mess.
“I'm already dressed, Kael. I need to go today. I could go with you to meet your father and then we go from there” I suggested.
Kael didn't look too keen on the idea. He hesitated, contemplating.
“Sure. Be down in a few minutes” He finally agreed.
“Alright” I grinned.
He smiled and walked to the door and left.
I made adjustments on my hair and makeup, picked up my handbag and left my room.
I didn't see Misella when we left and I was glad I didn't.
We arrived at the pack about an hour later.
I stopped right on my track when I came close to the building in front of me.
It was like looking directly at a war front. The guards that lined up the front gate made my heart skip a beat.
They quickly let us in, and I spent more time admiring the pack palace than I actually did bothering about why we were there.
It wasn't until Kael nudged my arm that I realized we were in his father's chambers.
The man that arrived soon looked so intimidating that I regretted ever suggesting to come with him.
There are other days to go back to school.
Why did I think this would be interesting?.
The journey back to school had been quiet.
Why wouldn't it be? That meeting with Kael’s father was among the top three worst days of my life.
I was in front and I know he supposedly let that be so.
We hadn't said a word to each other.
Kael was just as shaken up as I was- he's my mate after all.
Just that we hadn't acknowledged the bond yet.
A smile tugged at the corner of my lips when I spotted Sonia and Sophie from afar.
I smiled even more when I noticed they were arguing about something as they always did.
I guess nothing has changed after all.
“ Sonia. Sophie!!” I called loudly for them to hear me.
They stopped arguing and looked right in my direction.
Sonia was the first to see me and she started running to meet me almost immediately.
I ran too, and we caught up in the middle while Kael and Sophie slowly catched up with us.
“We thought we were never gonna see you again” Sonia was more elated than I thought she'd be.
“Welcome back” Sophie shrugged.
I left Sonia and pulled Sophie's stiffened body into a hug.
“We'll be late for class” she growled.
I laughed and let go.
Glad to know nothing has changed. Sonia was just as cheerful and carefree as I remembered and Sophie was still uptight and serious.
It all made me happy for a second, till my mind winded back to the meeting with Kael's Father.
My face dropped…again.
