Chapter 28

Liara managed only a nod. Far too agitated by her ideas.

Beleth turned back to the door, his hand resting on the handle and before opening it he said, "Especially for you." She didn't see the smile that played on his lips as he left the room.

Kyla's impatience grew with every minute that passed. Azamir sat across from her and explained the various ointments and how to prepare them. He was obviously trying to get his girlfriend's mind off things, but even if she listened carefully to his words, a part of her was in another world.

A servant appeared and bowed slightly. "If you would please follow me?!"

Kyla gave her a cursory glance. "No. You can go to your Lord and tell him I will NOT come.”

Eyes wide with fear, Kyla was stared at. "B-But..."

Kyla cut her off, "I said no, now go away." Her tone was bored and annoyed. Completely the opposite of what she felt.

When the servant disappeared, Kyla breathed a sigh of relief. The first hurdle would be taken.

Devon paced his room. The remaining members were already gathered and were now waiting for his appearance.

But he couldn't leave without taking Kyla with him. He'd told her it was for her own safety, so why was she still insisting on Azamir? Did she think he could protect her? He didn't believe that she wasn't interested in politics, everyone was. When there was a knock on the door and the maid informed him that Kyla refused to come, his eyes suddenly turned to a red glow. He immediately stormed out of his room. If he had a lot of patience, but now he had enough. She would learn what it means to defy him.

Kyla glanced at Azamir who was sitting on her bed and managed a crooked smile. She, on the other hand, stood by the door, her sword ready in her hand, and waited.

She heard footsteps approaching at a fast pace and when the door flew open with a crash, one wing landed just beside her. She knew he would be mad, just as she knew he would come in person. For Kyla, Devon became more and more of an open book.

As his gaze scanned the room, landing on Azamir in contempt, Kyla took a step toward him, sword point close to his neck. "Did you think I'd let myself be surprised like I did back in the dining room?" Kyla asked calmly.

"Did you think I would allow myself to be resisted?" He turned to her. The sudden movement caused a thin red thread to run down his neck. Kyla didn't even flinch.

"You will come with me now!"

"With Azamir, yes. Without him, no.”

A growl escaped his throat, then he decided to take a different approach. "I thought you wanted a way to get Raia out of your body?" The glow was still in his eyes.

Kyla's eyes widened. "I thought that was impossible?" she asked, completely amazed.

"On my own, yes."

Kyla thought for a moment. "Still, I won't go there without Azamir."

Devon was slowly losing the last bit of control. He cocked his slightly and took a step closer to Kyla. The sword slid down his neck and another thread ran down the pale skin. Kyla gasped. Did she just overdo it?

"I don't feel like arguing with you now. The Others will not tolerate Azamir, and I have no desire to keep them in my house any longer than necessary.”

"Okay, a compromise. I'll talk to them myself. Azamir will come with me, I'll talk to them and if they're still against it, okay, then he'll leave the room again."

Devon's eyes lost the red and with his golden eyes he yelled at her: "How do you imagine that? Do you think anyone can just call her that? You are just a pathetic human who serves to house Raia's soul. Then nothing!"

Kyla's eyes flashed dangerously. "Well, aren't we discussing it now?! I thought you didn't have time? And… I DON'T FUCK RAIA! I AM ME AND WILL ALWAYS STAY ME! IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR YOU IF YOU FINALLY UNDERSTOOD THIS!”

Devon sighed. "Do what you want. In any case, we should then slowly go. And then don't blame me for what happens. Got it?” Kyla nodded with a slight grin. She mentally added a line on her side to her Kyla vs. Devon list.
