Chapter 25
There was silence for a moment.
"Always?" Devon finally asked.
"Apparently you did that every time! Damn, I'm fed up with all that shit! That's really too stupid for me, can you please tell Raia not to put things in my mouth? I would like to speak in my own words! She seems to be ignoring me.” Kyla sighed. She could feel the headache getting worse.
There was silence again, then Kyla brought up the subject again. "What powers did Dantalion have?"
"He could see into the -hearts- of beings and materialize what was hidden there. So that you knew it yourself. He was able to feel someone else's emotions, read minds if you didn't know how to block it."
"So an emphatic esper."
"A what?"
"Forget it. And what's in it for me now?"
"What do you feel in my presence?"
Kyla regarded him for a moment. "I know you won't kill me."
"Not what you know. What you feel!"
Kyla looked at him blankly. Devon sighed. "Sit down," he finally instructed her. Kyla followed and sat back down. As Devon sat down next to her, she put a little more distance between them.
"Close your eyes."
"What you up to?!"
"Close your eyes~"
Kyla hesitated for a moment, but then followed his instruction. When his voice broke the prevailing silence, she flinched. "Now try to look into your heart. Turn off your mind, how do you feel in my presence?”
"I feel uncomfortable when I can't see you?"
Devon sighed in frustration. "Okay, I'll put it another way." He thought for a moment. "What is your impression of me?"
Now Kyla thought she understood what he meant. She concentrated entirely on her sensations. If she ignored everything that had happened so far, forgot that he kidnapped her, would have killed Liara without hesitation and just imagined he was a normal person she was meeting for the first time... What would be your first impression?
When she found the answer, she said, "I know I don't need to be afraid of you when you're like this. I can feel your strength, but I know you wouldn't harm me. Rather the opposite. You would take care of me like you did last night.”
Devon looked at her in surprise. From where…? Had Azamir told her?
"No, he didn't," she answered, feeling the throbbing behind her temples. It seemed to get stronger with every passing second.
"You just read my mind."
"I haven't. You talked."
"No I haven't."
"Yes, you have…"
Devon sighed. "bets?"
"I bet not. But I know you spoke."
Devon's hands were placed on top of each other a little apart, as if he were holding a crystal ball in his hands. His left hand seemed to stroke it gently and finally they were side by side. As if the weight would now be carried by both of them. A small, water-like sphere appeared. Kyla looked inside and recognized herself and Devon. Here. This little sphere clearly showed what had happened a few moments ago.
