Chapter 23

Kyla sighed. She had listened carefully to Azamir's words and she couldn't believe it. Dantalion had only used them. Her anger grew. Frustrated at being taken in by someone like that, she pulled back the covers and was about to get up when her hand caught in her long hair.

"Shit… Azamir? Can you cut them off for me?” she finally asked.

The little one cocked his head and managed a crooked grin. "Kyla beautiful! Don't cut it off!"

“But they are so… long! They're just a nuisance!"

Azamir thought for a moment, then suddenly jumped up and down. Kyla gave him a confused look.

"Azamir idea! Azamir idea!”

"Ahjaaa, and which ones?" Kyla eyed him skeptically. Would you like this idea?

"Azamir has seen picture of woman. She made her hair veeeery long and weird too!” Kyla giggled. It was always amusing with him and he always got her thinking differently. "How?" she finally asked.

"Funny! Looked like cross.”

"Eh... what?"

Azamir went to her and grabbed her hair. He put a strand of hair over her shoulder and divided it into three parts. As Kyla followed his movements, she understood and laughed. She stroked his head and explained: "It means braiding. Do you want me to show you how? Then you can braid them for me…” Azamir nodded eagerly.

It took him a while to get it right and Kyla gladly agreed to play the guinea pig.

In the evening she padded out of bed and went to the closet. After Azamir told her he cut her top, she was now forced to wear one of the dresses again. she sighed. It was so uncomfortable!

Just as she was done, the door opened and Azamir came with the food.

As they started to eat, Kyla asked, "Where's Devon anyway?"

"Masters finish meetings of the 12! Help whole house!”

Kyla grinned, there was no question that Devon wouldn't do it all alone. "Do you think he'll come here again today?"

Azamir shrugged unknowingly, making Kyla laugh again. Again something he copied from her, but with his small body and stature it looked far more amusing on him.

"Azamir not know. Azamir can pick masters. Fight Kyla then?”

Kyla shook her head. "No, there are a few things I want to ask him. You don't even have to bring him here. But would you please go look for him and then ask him when he's free?"

Azamir nodded and after they finished eating, he explained to her that he would take the tray away and then go immediately to look for it.

Kyla lay down, arms crossed under her head and stared at the ceiling. Since her -experience- as she called it, she didn't feel as much hatred for him as before. Was it Raia's feelings that made themselves felt? She remembered all too well the different emotions she felt when she touched the shadow. But where had she been? In her subconscious? Must be, she answered the question herself. But her mind wandered from Raia to Darian. She barely remembered the fight, but something else. She knew she had to ask Devon about it. Depending on how his answer turned out, she would decide further.

Azamir snapped her out of her thoughts as he opened the door a crack and stopped inside. "Master time. kyla

can,” he explained.

Kyla rose, grabbed her sword and followed her boyfriend.

Devon was waiting for her in the great hall where she had first collapsed. He sat on the chair and in front of him, on the table countless books and individual sheets were piled up. A sense of familiarity settled over Kyla. It seemed as if she had seen this sight countless times before. As she cleared her throat, Devon looked up from the papers in his hand.

He motioned for her to sit on the sofa and Kyla complied.

A smile curled around Devon's mouth. "Well, I see you don't dare come into my presence unarmed anymore?"

Kyla followed his gaze to her sword. "It's not necessarily that..."

"What brings you to me?" Devon put the papers on the table, propped her elbows on the armrests and clasped her hands together.

"I... I have a few questions and I hope you can answer them for me."

"You don't seem to hate me anymore..."

"No. But! Argh...I don't know. It… is all confusing right now.”

Devon nodded. Why did he feel relieved by her words? He did not know.

"Will you answer them honestly?"

Again he just nodded.

"Well, first of all. Who is this DARIAN?” Kyla practically growled the name.

"He's my brother."

"But he's human!?"

"It's a bit more complicated. My mother's reincarnation gave birth to him. When she died he was alone. I took care of him.”

Kyla raised an eyebrow in surprise. So he felt some kind of family feeling?

"Why did he try to kill me again?"

"Again?" Devon's gaze darkened.
