Chapter 20
"Darian's. They fought each other.“, he explained and immediately asked himself why he was telling him that at all.
Azamir rose from the bed and came to Devon with small steps. He stopped in front of him, cocked his head slightly and looked at him. Kyla said Devon couldn't hurt him anymore, right?
"Master stay with Kyla?" he asked cautiously. Devon looked at him for a while.
"Why do you ask?"
"Azamir make new ointments, but don't want to leave Kyla alone. Azamir fear for girlfriend."
A smile curled the corners of Devon's mouth. "Girlfriend? You mean you guys are friends? Who wants to be friends with something like you?!” he sneered.
But Azamir ignored his comment and headed for the door. "Master take care of girlfriend, yes?" And he was gone.
Devon supported his head with his hand and watched her for a while. How on earth could she befriend something like Azamir? That was a human thing again. friends, phew! That he wasn't laughing. There was no such thing. Either you were weaker than the other and served him, or you were stronger and ruled.
Then his eyes fell on a brown leather corner peeking out from under the pillow. Devon leaned forward and grabbed it. He held Dantalion's book in his hands. After his death, however, it was ineffective.
He opened it more out of boredom than out of curiosity. Immediately he recognized the scent of her blood and the memory of that taste returned. Yes, he knew how it smelled, how it tasted. He had already noticed that.
His eyes scanned the first few pages, finding them uninteresting. Eventually, however, his gaze settled on one side. From here it dealt only with Athaerion. Its inhabitants, its size, leading beings and their characteristics. Devon marveled. No wonder so much of Dantalion's magic could seep into her. She had asked several pages of questions, and the more blood she consumed, the more had entered her. Devon cursed. How could she have been so stupid?
Then he flipped to the last page and as his eyes read the question he smiled yet was amazed at the same time. She actually wanted to know if he and Raia had been a 'couple'. Devon closed the book and not a minute later a servant appeared in the room. He handed her the book and ordered her to burn it and bring him a new one. Just before she disappeared, she bowed slightly.
Kyla felt miserable. She ran down a dark tunnel and a feeling of loneliness and hatred gripped her heart. Involuntarily it contracted painfully and she put her hand on the painful area. Kyla stopped and tried to see something in this almost endless darkness, but it was hopeless. She didn't know how long she had been running, didn't know where.
Kyla swore and wished for more light.
Finally a small flame appeared in front of her and she had to smile. "Hello little flames!", at least a ray of light on the horizon.
But she couldn't see much more than this little flame. Kyla sighed and dropped to her knees. What was she even doing here? And why did she feel the urge to run, even when her body was exhausted, every bone and every movement ached? The flame began to dance restlessly in front of her face. "What's going on?" she asked, even though she knew that the small light source wouldn't answer her. Then she, too, heard this rumbling, which grew louder and louder. It sounded menacing and was coming at them with incredible speed. At first it reminded her of thunder, but she soon learned otherwise. If she had first thought that she was already surrounded by darkness, she had to correct her view. What was coming towards them was darkness. And without being able to do anything about it, she would be overrun by it. The small flame disappeared and Kyla fell into the depths.
