Chapter 94 Alphas command
Chapter 094
DARIUS
The moment I saw that message spreading across the academy social media, something inside me shattered completely.
All the careful control I had maintained for years disappeared in an instant.
"I need to go to her," I told Dorian, already moving towards the exit. "Right now. I need to get to City General Hospital."
Dorian followed close behind me. "I am coming with you. Samantha is probably already there, and I need to make sure she is alright too."
We had almost made it to the main doors when my father appeared, blocking our path with his imposing presence. "Where do you think you are going, Darius?"
"To the hospital," I replied, trying to step around him. "Ravenna has been in an accident. She is in critical condition."
Richard moved to block me again, his expression cold and unmoved. "You will not go to her."
"Get out of my way," I demanded, my voice rising with desperation and fury.
"No," my father stated firmly. "You have responsibilities here. A donor meeting that requires your presence. You will not abandon your duties for some human girl who means nothing to this family or this pack."
Atlas roared inside my mind, tearing at my control with such violence that I could feel my bones starting to shift. "Move him. Kill him if necessary. Get to our mate."
"She is dying," I choked out, my hands clenching into fists at my sides. "I can feel it. If I do not go to her right now, she might die alone."
Richard's expression did not change. "If she dies, then she dies. It is irrelevant to us. You are the heir to this pack, Darius. You are engaged to Selene Blackwood. That human girl has no place in your life or your future. The sooner you accept that, the better."
Every word he spoke felt like a knife twisting deeper into my chest.
Atlas was going completely wild now, pushing so hard against my control that I could feel fur beginning to sprout along my arms.
Then I sensed it. Through the faint bond I shared with Ravenna, I felt her life force flicker. Dim almost to nothing before barely stabilising again.
I nearly shifted right there in the corridor. My eyes flashed gold. My canines extended. A growl ripped from my throat that made several nearby students scatter in fear.
"Darius, control yourself," my father commanded sharply. "You are making a scene."
"I do not care," I snarled back, my voice distorted by the partial shift. "She is my mate. Do you understand that? Ravenna is my fated mate, and she is dying whilst you stand here telling me I cannot go to her."
Something flickered in Richard's expression. Surprise maybe, or recognition. But it vanished quickly, replaced by even more determination.
"That changes nothing," he declared coldly. "You will reject the bond. You will marry Selene as planned. And you will forget about this human girl who has caused nothing but problems since she arrived at this academy."
"No," I absolutely refused. "I will not reject her. I will not marry Selene. And I will not forget Ravenna."
"Then you will be disowned," Richard threatened. "Stripped of your title. Removed from this family entirely. Is that what you want? To throw away everything for a girl who will be dead by morning anyway?"
The cruelty in his words made something snap inside me. All the rage and fear and helplessness I had been feeling exploded outward.
I turned and punched the wall beside me with all my supernatural strength. The impact sent cracks spider-webbing across the surface.
My knuckles split open, blood immediately welling up and dripping down my hand.
I hit the wall again. And again. And again. Each strike sent fresh pain shooting up my arm but doing nothing to ease the agony tearing through my chest.
"Darius, stop," Dorian tried to grab my shoulder, but I shrugged him off violently.
I kept hitting the wall until my hand was a bloody mess and the surface was completely destroyed.
Only then did I finally stop, breathing hard whilst blood dripped steadily onto the floor.
Richard watched all of this with no emotion on his face. "Are you finished with your tantrum?"
I looked at him with all the hatred I felt burning in my eyes. "I will never forgive you for this."
"I do not need your forgiveness," my father replied calmly. "I need your obedience. Now clean yourself up and attend the donor meeting as you were instructed. That is an order from your Alpha."
The Alpha command hit me like a physical force, compelling obedience through the pack bonds we shared. I tried to resist it, tried to push back against the supernatural compulsion.
But I could not. My father's will was too strong, and I was too emotionally devastated to fight properly.
So I obeyed.
I turned away from the exit. Away from the hospital where Ravenna lay dying. Away from my mate who needed me.
And I walked towards the meeting room where donors and pack business waited, my bloody hand hanging uselessly at my side.
