Chapter 167 I reject your rejection
Chapter 167
RAVENNA
Theo gasped beside me.
I just kept staring at Darius, trying to process what the fuck he had just said.
He was glaring at me, his jaw tight, his chest rising and falling like he had just run a mile.
I shrugged and turned to Moonlight silently. "Help me back to my human form."
Everything slowly disappeared. The fur. The claws. The fangs. I felt them retract back into my body, and my skin returned to normal.
I turned to walk back to my seat.
Darius grabbed my hand. "Where are you going?"
I yanked my arm free. "Let go of me. Stop behaving like this."
"You cannot just walk away without finishing what I started," he snapped.
I looked at him, genuinely confused. "You started it. So you finish it. Do not involve me because I do not know what you started."
Theo stepped forward. "Raven, you cannot just leave like this. You have to complete the bond break."
I frowned. "I honestly do not know the meaning of what he said. I do not know how it concerns me."
Theo sighed. "You and Darius are mates. The law of werewolves says you either accept the bond or reject it. What Darius just did was reject the bond. You have to accept the rejection for it to be complete."
Realisation dawned on me.
I raised my eyes slightly, turning inward. "Moonlight, is this true?"
She grunted. "You cannot accept the rejection."
"What if he insists on me rejecting it?"
Moonlight sighed. "I did not want to say this to you yet. But I am no ordinary wolf."
I waited.
"For the bond to snap into place, you have to reject it by accepting the rejection. But even then, it is rare for a rejection bond to be denied by the female wolf. Me being a unique wolf means you can reject the rejection bond."
My voice was filled with awe. "I can really do that?"
"Try and see."
Darius snapped his fingers in front of my face. "Stop smiling like a clown and answer me."
I cleared my throat and straightened my shoulders.
"I, Ravenna Casmir, reject the rejection bond."
A smirk spread across my face.
Darius's eyes widened.
The bond pulsed between us. I felt it. A surge of energy, hot and undeniable, snapping back into place like a tether that refused to break.
"You bitch!" Darius roared.
He rushed at me.
I snarled.
Moonlight half-shifted immediately, and I took a fighting stance, my claws extending, my body ready.
Darius stopped on his heels, his eyes wide.
Theo stepped back quickly. Everyone else did the same, giving us space.
Students began chanting. "Fight! Fight! Fight!"
Others were shouting at Darius. "Finish her!"
"Kill her!"
"She does not deserve to be a wolf!"
"She is a bitch!"
"Reject the bond, Ravenna!"
But I did not back down.
I stared at Darius, my chest heaving, my voice steady. "I did not want to do this. But I am going to fight for what is mine. I am going to fight for this bond. I am going to fight for you. And not even a fucking rejection can stop me."
I paused, letting the words sink in.
"So it is either you go in peace and avoid me until I win your heart back the right way and atone for what I did to you and you forgive me, or I am going to forcefully mark you. And you should trust me, I have the power to do that. After all, I just rejected the mate bond rejection."
I watched something like fear cross his face.
His posture shifted into that of something defensive now.
He stepped back, staring at me.
"What is it going to be?" I asked quietly. "Walk away and forget about trying to reject the bond and accept the fact that we are mates? Or fight me and have yourself marked?"
Darius straightened. "You have gone really crazy."
I snarled at him.
He moved forward slightly, then froze.
His eyes widened at something I could not see. He raised his hands slowly and stepped back. "I am not going to fight you anymore. Calm down."
He was genuinely scared now.
I continued to snarl at him, my body tense, my claws flexing.
"That is enough, Moonlight."
But she was going feral now. I could feel it. She was feeding on my emotions, my anger, my pain, and she was not stopping.
All the chants died down.
I kept advancing toward Darius, and he kept stepping back.
Theo came in front of me, his hands raised. "Ravenna, it is okay. Darius accepted defeat already."
"It is not enough," Moonlight hissed in my head. "He needs to learn a lesson. How dare he try to reject us knowing fully well our life depends on this bond? He is selfish. Heartless. He will never change."
"I know he is all of that," I replied silently. "But I cannot harm him. We still need him to survive."
"Just a little warning." Her voxie dropped lowly, something more dangerous.
I tried to attack Darius again, but he slipped away at the last second.
My claws hit the wall where he had been standing. The concrete cracked and broke into pieces, chunks of it falling to the floor.
I turned.
"Stop doing this!" Darius yelled.
"You are a selfish bastard!" I shouted back, my voice raw. "An asshole! A fucking jerk! Yes, I released the videos! I agree to it! But let us not forget all the cruel things you did to me!"
I attacked again, and he narrowly escaped.
"You attacked me the moment I stepped into this academy! You tried killing me twice and sent me to the hospital! You did other wicked things to me! And you dare stand there and blame everything on me!"
Everyone was panicking now.
The lecturers were trying to plead with me, having guessed that my wolf had gone feral, feeding on my emotions.
Theo stepped closer. "Ravenna, calm down. Do not think about Darius. Your wolf needs to calm down."
But it was hard. I was genuinely pissed off now, thinking about everything I had gone through at his hands.
"The war was not my fault!" I shouted. "I released the video, and whatever they decided to do after that was not my concern!"
I grabbed a table and flung it at him.
It hit him square in the chest, and he fell backward, crashing into the wall.
Dorian tried to rush forward, but Bonn grabbed him and pulled him back. "Are you stupid or just foolish?"
Dorian struggled. "She is going to kill him!"
"The fight is between Darius and Ravenna," Bonn said firmly. "She is not targeting anyone but him. Do not interfere."
"She is not in a stable state of mind!" Dorian shouted.
"Stay put or you're going to die," Bonn ordered.
Darius got up slowly, his chest heaving, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.
He walked toward me. "Kill me then. If you can."
He paused, his eyes blazing. "I am going to continue saying it. The video you released started the war. You were the cause of it. And you better accept your fault and stop giving flimsy excuses."
I snarled at him.
He shifted into his wolf form and snarled right back at me.
Then he snarled again, louder this time, and something slammed into me.
My body froze.
"The bastard is using Alpha command on us," Moonlight hissed. "He is trying to make us submit."
I felt the weight of it pressing down on me, trying to force me to my knees.
But Moonlight pushed back.
"Raven," she said quietly. "I am going to leave you now. You must only tell your father about this. Take your training seriously. The next full moon is just weeks away. We only have weeks to determine if we live or die."
The shift began reversing.
Slowly, I returned to my human form.
I stood there, breathing hard, my body trembling.
Darius shifted back too, standing in front of me, his chest rising and falling heavily.
He called my name softly. "Ravenna."
He reached out to touch me.
I glared at him.
Then I turned around, grabbed my bag, and took Theo's hand.
We walked out of the building without another word.
