Chapter 13: Luke
What the fuck?
Everything should have gone right this morning was about to go wrong, because I didn’t spend last weekend working. I’d spent most of the week trying to think of ways how to fuck my PA, and the rest of the week determined not to play out my secret fantasy. Now the Russian deal was about to go sour and the translations were shit and everything about this deal was going to the pot, including the German liaison who said this was a done deal. There was nothing done about it, the protocol was rolled out and no one had fucking checked to make sure that it was working perfectly.
What a mess!
“Craig speed it up!” I blurted from the back of the Tesla. I wanted to get to the office asap despite working from the back of the limo. I had gone home to the country, instead of the penthouse downtown which meant I would have to leave early to cut through the traffic in the city and not only me, but my CFO, IT Director and all staff involved, we had to get this sorted now. I couldn’t get a hold of April, which was strange because the number went straight to voicemail as if it was switched off.
I hoped she wasn’t the type who thought her workday began at eight, so she wouldn’t put her phone on until her working day officially began. I doubted it, she was ever so willing, but I didn’t need a cold shower this morning, I was annoyed with myself for not double-checking everything, what was the point in having staff if I had to evaluate their work. They knew their responsibilities overwise what was the point of hiring them.
I tried to calm down. At the end of the day, everyone made mistakes. I’d made them from time to time.
As I headed into the office, I saw everyone ready to enter the building from the lobby.
“Great, you’re all here at the same time,” I didn’t wait for them to respond. I could tell Jeff my CFO was giving me a look as if to say, it’s only Monday and already we have to come in early. He was a bit lazy when it came to working outside office hours, but I didn’t hire for his personality. I kept him because he was good with figures. He’d managed to get the company out of a few hot spots especially when I wanted to expand on what I thought was a good investment. Until he checked the books and confirmed it was far from a good buy and saved me from dragging the company down instead of up.
“We need to figure out what the hell is going on? I’d trusted that I didn’t need to go over everything, but I wasn’t expecting a gap. Not this big.”
“We’ll head to your office,” Jeff said. “Gareth can sort out the coffees and then we come up with an action plan.”
As we entered the elevator, I sent April a new message. I wanted her to block my calendar for the day and to order us breakfast and lunch, it was going to be a long day and I wanted to make sure we looked at all options. This took precedence over everything and there was nothing I would do to make sure there were no more fuck ups, and everything was corrected properly. I had no intention of glossing over everything, I would look and evaluate the finer details.
The only sound in the elevator was everyone’s breathing as if they were zombies being woken from the dead. I hated the grumpy boss management style, but I was pissed, and I wasn’t going to play nice. Even if I found out no one in the elevator was responsible for what had happened, I made it my business to make sure they had the fear of God in them to make sure it was going to be corrected. The company’s reputation was on the line as well as millions of dollars. None of them had the money to compensate the damage which had been done and if things got worse, this would explode in their faces and we would all be out of work and I would be out of pocket, something I wasn’t willing to do because of one tumble.
The elevator chimed as we reached the top floor. They waited for me to get off, because they followed behind me like I was the King, but then I heard footsteps going in the opposite direction. No doubt to the bathroom or kitchen. Either way, I couldn’t wait to get to my office and dump my laptop and get to work. It was right at the back of the floor, Ed teased me how I loved to stay hidden, which wasn’t the case. There was no point being at the front and having a Senior Manager and a Managing Director if every time there was an issue, they would come knocking at my door. The idea was they would go to them and even better their direct manager, no resolution then I would be the last door they would consider knocking on.
“Right people let’s get to work!”
I said over my shoulder and opened the door. It swung wide open to see April wearing very little and looking as if she was on my desk ready to serve me her pussy as breakfast.
“What the fuck!”
She grabbed her clothes and ran to the back. I managed to stop whoever was trying to get past me as I pushed them back and only Jeff managed to see the wannabe sex show which was taking place in my office. April had the sense to run into my bathroom and I held everyone back a few seconds as I lied.“Everyone to the conference room, there seems to be something in my office.”
Jeff laughed and winked at me. “Yes, his office is occupied.”
I was now the typical boss having it off with his PA and I was sure by lunchtime everyone would know about it.
Everyone moved away in confusion because the reason I wanted to hold the meeting in my office, was because I didn’t want everyone to know what was going on. There was nothing worse than gossip in an office and if everyone found out the Russian deal was about to go sour, then they would panic. They should do since it was our bread and butter at the moment. I couldn’t cope with my own panics about this deal, let alone everyone else’s.
April must have been hot and wanting me to visit her over the weekend. I´d had too much going on during the weekend to pay her a visit. There was nothing better than a woman desire and April had turned up so much heat in my office, I was surprised she didn’t set off the sprinklers and the fire alarm.
