I let out a low grunt as I aimed my fist to my punching bag. It swayed backwards, its hinges squeaking with the movement before retreating back to its original position.
Another punch followed by a third.
I watched as more dents were formed on its leather skin as a result of my angry fits.
Originally, I bought this bag to train, but then it became a way to unleash all of my pent-up anger.
"How dare they threaten me, and with a head none the less? Don't they know how freaky that is?" I growled lowly, all fear from yesterday disappearing and is replaced with anger.
When I woke up today, Lucian was still sleeping soundly next to me. His eyebrows were furrowed together though, so I slowly brought my index finger to the creases that formed between them and watched as they flattened back.
He pulled me impossibly closer and buried his head in my neck as he mumbled incoherent words in his sleep.
I sighed in content as his warmth filled the air around us, however, it was short lived.
Unfortunately, Hugh called me to warn me that Uncle Adam was on his way to my room and I quickly had to wake Lucian up and usher him out of the window to leave, much to his dismay.
I got yelled at for being late preparing breakfast, but thankfully I didn't get hit, and after I made sure that I'd done all my chores and that most of the pack members were out and about in their own world, I took the chance to go up and release my anger on the poor grey bag.
Sweat trickled down the side of my forehead and down my back and chest as I continued my assault on the bag with a double kick, making it sway harder, but the damn loyal thing came back to me again.
"Why are you coming back huh? Aren't you fed up with me punching you?" I yelled as I punched it. "Kicking you," I kicked its side. "And literally spilling your guts out?" I asked with another kick.
I know I made no sense whatsoever and I honestly didn't care. If it made me feel better, then so be it.
I felt my phone vibrate in my short's pocket and with one hand reached for it while the other continued on punching the bag.
"Hello?" I asked breathlessly as I aimed a strong punch.
"Hey baby girl." An all too familiar voice replied, making me lose my concentration all of a sudden.
This caused the punching to come colliding back with my face making me fall to the ground with a thud.
Looks like the it's finally getting even with me.
"Ow." I winced as I rubbed my aching butt.
"April! April answer me! What happened?" I heard Lucian yell through the phone.
I quickly grabbed it from where it fell on the ground and brought it to my ear.
"Lucian?" I called. "Where the hell did you get my number from?" I asked in confusion.
"I have my ways." He replied and I could imagine the sheepish grin that was plastered on his face, making a small smile of my own tug at the corner of my lips.
"Are you okay though?" He asked with a hint of worry.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just fell." I replied to which Lucian just responded to with an 'oh'.
"So? Are you at the pack house?" He asked.
"Yup." I said popping the 'p' as I grabbed my white towel to dry my sweat. "Why?"
"Hugh wanted us to meet at the headquarters."
"Headquarters?" I repeated with a raised eyebrow.
"Hugh named it that!" Lucian defended almost too quickly.
I chuckled at both their silliness.
"Anyways, he wants to inform us about what he and Freya found yesterday." Lucian said.
I scrunched up my face in confusion. "Why didn't he call me then?" I asked.
"Er...well, he was going to, but I couldn't miss the chance to hear your voice."
Pink made its way up my neck and to my cheeks.
"That's so cheesy you know." I told him in an attempt to cover up for my blushing.
"Don't try to hide the fact that it made you blush and made your heart skip a beat." He said with a very well heard smirk and a cocky attitude to match.
"Pfft...as if." I denied as I left my training room and went or my bedroom to shower and change. It was true though. He just woke my dinosaurs up and they were currently having a fight in my stomach.
"When does Hugh want us anyway?" I asked trying to change the topic.
"As soon as possible. You know the way, right?"
"Yeah." I replied as I tossed a grey shirt away, deciding against wearing it and looking for something else.
"Okay, I'll see you soon then." Lucian said.
"Okay. Bye." I replied and with a goodbye from him, we ended the call and I tossed the phone to my mattress to continue searching for something to wear.
I really didn't have many clothes though, but I was trying to think like I did and act like all the other girls who had dilemmas choosing what to wear.
I looked at the only other three shirts and two pants that I had.
"Hmm? What should I wear?" I mumbled to myself in a pained filled voice. I really don't know why but suddenly, I felt like crying.
"This won't go with my eye colour." I stated with a weak voice as I tossed back a blue shirt.
"And this won't match my hair." A traitor tear fell as I threw another.
"And this is just too old and ugly." And finally a sob.
I buried my head in my clothes and cried like there was no tomorrow.
I've only cried like that twice and this was the third.
One, when my parents died.
Two, when I saw the note from my father.
And now. But now, I don't really know why.
After what felt like ages of uncontrollable sobs and after my eyes became puffy and red, I rose back up with a sniff.
I had no more tears to shed and no more energy to help me shed any if there were any left.
"What the hell. I'll just wear the grey one. It's my favourite anyways." I told myself as I stood up from my place.
Right on cue, my door slammed open revealing a steaming uncle.
I quickly dropped my gaze knowing how much alphas don't like being stared at especially if it was a slave such as myself.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Uncle Adam growled at me.
"I-I was g-going to ch-change." I fake stuttered hoping to God that he wouldn't notice my phone that was on my mattress.
"Didn't you hear me call or did you become deaf all of a sudden huh?" He snarled and stomped towards me, his angry face as read as a fire truck.
My eyes widened a fraction as he grabbed my upper arm tightly, definitely leaving a mark there.
And here I thought I won't get beaten today.
He kept his fingers around my arm as he practically dragged me downstairs with him.
I was on the verge of tumbling down the stairs from his fast pace, and this time, I wasn't faking it.
What the hell was up his butt?
Once we stepped into the kitchen my eyes widened like they've never before.
I've never seen the kitchen so messy in my whole life and noting that I've cleaned it just this morning.
"Care to explain why the kitchen is looking like a tornado just passed by it?" Uncle Adam sneered.
I stammered at my words, not really knowing what to say since I too didn't know the answer.
There was pancake mix everywhere on the counter, stove and the floor. Cracked eggs where mixed along with it on the floor and for some god damn reason was dripping from the ceiling too.
Milk was spilt all over. Cornflakes scattered everywhere along beef jerky and frozen meat.
What the hell? It looked like someone did this on purpose.
My suspicions were answered when hushed giggles were heard from the doorway.
I narrowed my eyes at the culprits.
Of course. Who else could it be if it wasn't Mary, the head bully, and her wannabes, of whom Valerie was one?
Guilt and saddens flashed though her eyes when we made eye contact, but they went as quickly as they came and were replaced with a smirk.
A pang of hurt shot though my heart but I masked it effectively.
We were once best friends.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when a sudden force collided with my face, making me tumble to the ground, this time too it wasn't fake. He caught me by surprise.
Rose growled inside of me.
"Don't doze off when I'm talking to you." Uncle Adam bellowed at me.
"S-sorry." I apologised with a fake stutter as I rubbed my burning cheek.
Hushed giggles erupted again but this time, I ignored them.
"I need this place squeaky clean by the time I'm back you got me." Uncle Adam ordered to which I did nothing but nod.
I watched as he stomped out of the kitchen angrily.
I rose up to my feet right as the brats made their entrance.
"Aw poor April." Mary cooed. "Maybe we should help her." She snickered and her followers snickered along.
She held the upright fruit basket and was about to place it on the other side of the counter when she 'tripped' and dropped all the fruits on the floor increasing the mess to be cleaned.
"Oh my gosh." She fake-gasped. "My bad." She giggled before ushering to her minions. "Let's go girls."
I glared at them as they waltz out, giggling nonstop.
Rose was going crazy in my head.
'Let's. Kill. Them. Now.' She growled angrily to which I only sighed.
"In time Rose. In time."
----
By the time I was done, three hours have already passed.
I was glaring daggers at almost anything that my eyes came insight off. The poor kitchen utensils weren't at fault, but I was frustrated to no end.
After I was finally finished and had Uncle Adam check my work, I was finally allowed to go back to my room but not before receiving a good punch to the stomach knocking the air out of me.
"So that next time you don't lazy out on your chores." Uncle Adam has said.
Jeez. That guy has been overly mad at me recently and I don't know why.
It breaks my heart that my own uncle does this to me.
I took a shower to wipe off all the grease and sweat that coated my body before wearing my clothes and finally, heading out to the 'headquarters' as Hugh and Lucian put it.
I'm sure they're going crazy about why I was late but I'm sure since no one came to look for me they've realised that Uncle Adam has kept me back.
Once I opened the door to the cottage, I was gifted with the sound of Hugh snapping.
"Will you relax? She'll be here any minute." He sounded frustrated as he obviously spoke to Lucian.
Lucian growled at him in return before he continued pacing around.
"Hey." I said as I stepped more inside.
All three heads snapped to me and in an instant, I was being crushed into someone's chest, more like Lucian's.
"Why were you late?" His asked, his voice muffled by my neck.
"I ran into some...trouble." I replied, not finding a better word to describe what happened.
"What kind of trouble?" I heard Hugh ask with slight worry.
"Kitchen trouble." I mumbled, trying my hardest not to growl.
Lucian pulled back at little to look at me in slight amusement and confusion but soon his features turned to that of a raged beast.
"What happened to your face?" He asked menacingly, obviously trying to control his wolf.
My hand immediately shot up to my cheek that has yet still to heal from the punch that I got earlier from uncle Adam.
"I-it's nothing." I replied and tried to step aside but Lucian stopped me.
"It was Adam wasn't it?" He asked, his voice low and dangerous.
I sighed. "There's no one else. But it's okay Lucian. I'm used to it and it's only a matter of time before it's over." I said.
"Well I'm not okay with it." He growled, his eyes turning pitch black.
"It'll be over soon Lucian, I promise." I begged. "Let's just go see what they found okay?"
I grabbed his hand and dragged him with me to the couch as he muttered a series of cuss words, even pirates don't know existed. Once we sat down, I started rubbing soothing circles onto Lucian's back to calm him down and thankfully it worked as he relaxed under my touch.
"Uhm...so...shall I, like...start?" Hugh asked awkwardly.
I just nodded my head for him to start.
"So, when Freya and I were checking the CDs, we came across one that held names and pictures instead of a video." Hugh started then turned his head to Freya to continue.
She smiled gratefully at him before opening her mouth to speak.
"Turns out, the names on the papers we found inside the folder where the names of the shippers who were responsible for producing and selling those weapons, while the names on the CD belonged to the actual buyers." She informed as we all listened to her intently.
"And? Who are those buyers?" Lucian asked.
Hugh smirked at him. "Ready to poop your hearts out?" He asked as he turned his gaze from Lucian to me before turning to Freya.
"Serpents." They both did in unison as they turned their heads towards us.
My eyes widened and both Lucian and I leaned forward from our laid-back positions.
"What? Serpents?" I gaped at them as they nodded their heads.
"But that's not even the good part." Hugh stated.
"The weapons have been tampered with. They're not working." Freya notified, continuing after Hugh.
What?!
