Chapter 23 (Stronger.)

“Eve! This-this is a misunderstanding! Please! Listen to me! It was not my parents who killed yours!! It was the general!” I scream trying to get to her.

“You would tell anything to get out of here! What proof do you have? Your parents betrayed and killed many of our families and you sit there defending them? You’re despicable!” She spits near my feet. How can I make her trust me? More importantly what the hell should I do now?

“What are you going to do with me?” I sigh. Will they kill me? I don’t know how to fight or how I can escape this room when there are more than 30 men watching me. I am done for.

“Not just yet! We of course need to torture you after all your parents did to us.” Torture? NO PLEASE JUST LET ME DIE PEACEFULLY! The man who just uttered my worst fears had eyes like a predator.

“Please... please just kill me! I’m sorry! Please.” I sob. I don’t want the last moments of my life to be hard.

Just then thunder could be heard. I shiver in fear. This fear is something I will never forget. I absolutely hate this fear. I think about the last moments I had with Reece. I want to tell him that I love him, that I am sorry for hiding secrets from him, that I cherish all the special moments I had with him.

“We did not agree to this! You said you would just kill her! Torture? Are we animals? We should not be like her parents and torture people! We should be better!” For some reason Eve did not seem like the bad person here.

She just wanted to avenge her parents and if I were her I would do the same. I hope they listen to her. Please. At least my death should be painless.

“Think of the times our parents died! This is revenge! Not some party! Get your head straight Eve!” He then pushes Eve and she falls to the ground. What kind of gang is this? They don’t even respect each other!

“Let’s get started shall we?” He slowly comes towards me with a very sharp small knife and I shake in absolute fear.

I wish for a miracle. Please let someone just quickly kill me! Please!

As I started to lose hope I heard a scream.

“Arghhhhh” The man who came towards me screamed and I look around.

Just then I remembered what my teacher taught me in the past.

“You are betrothed to Prince Reece. His right hand man is Raymond Medell. I am going to teach you about him today.”

“Why should I learn about some right hand man?” I wondered

“That’s because he is no ordinary man. He is the black panther of the battlefield. He single handedly destroyed the enemy kingdoms. He is said to kill the most evils and he will also be protecting you as you are the future queen of not only one but two kingdoms at once.”

“I’m sure we would get along.” I smiled

And that is what happened. I consider him one of my greatest friends not that I had many as I lived my entire life in isolation. He slashed the man with the knife right in front of me. Blood split on my clothes and face. It terrified me that the same thing would have happened to me if Raymond had not shown up.

It was a dog fight. Screams could be heard, the noise of the swords swinging the wooden inn being wrecked it was too much for me.

I don’t know what happened but I couldn’t breathe. I was terrified. I closed both my ears and eyes and was praying for this to be over. I think I was having a panic attack.

“Hey, Hey, Hey it’s over. You can open your eyes. No need to be afraid.” I could hear him tapping on my shoulder and trying to calm me down.

I slowly calm myself down and open my eyes.

“I’m fine. I was just... just afraid. Sorry I’m being a burden to you.”

“It’s okay. Its normal to be scared and you are no burden.” He says calmly.

“W-where is Eve? Did you K-kill her?” I ask hoping nothing happened to her.

Even though she was the reason that I was almost killed but she did not know the whole story. She was manipulated by the general just like my parents were. I want to clear my parents name and my name and restore my kingdom to peace!

“I only killed those who were trying to kill you. Are you talking about that blond girl there? She is just knocked out not dead.”

“Okay. How did you know I was here?” He couldn’t have known from someone telling him.

“I saw that blond girl taking you to a carriage and ridding off so I followed them.”

“How far are we from the kingdom?”

“Quite far. It took me a day or two to find you.” I couldn’t believe it.

“How long was I out for?!” Reece! What if he thinks I ran away!

“3 days. We need to go back.”

“Alright but before that I want you to teach me how to wield a sword.”

“What?”

“I’m done being afraid I need to learn to fight for myself!”

I need to get Stronger.
