Chapter 18 (Crossed)

He fell down on his knees and his head started bleeding.

He dropped the knife that was supposed to get me killed and I take it from the floor. I recognized that knife almost immediately. It was the same knife that was used to try to kill me after my engagement ball. This knife was also in Prince Reec's room!

I take the knife that was on the floor and hit my arm really hard. Ouch! That hurt! I hide the knife under my dress then I commence my plan. I look at my now very bloody arm and this wound was quite deep. It was enough for what I'm about to do.

"Help! Someone help me!!" I shout and scream as loud as I can.

Soon after the guards come in and look around frantically.

"What happened here!?" One of the guards asked.

He looks around and helps the other guy. He doesn't deserve help. He tried to kill me for god's sake!

"I, I was attacked! I don't know why!" I start crying to give them something to believe me.

"He-He hit me with a rock! But I-I pushed him and the rock fell out of his hand and I hit him right on his head!" I should be in a play or drama as an actress.

"I'm sorry I'm just so... emotional..." I ball my eyes out now.

The other guard helps me up and smiles at me to reassure me. I really did need this act of kindness. It brought me just a little bit of hope. I really appreciate the man for believing me and trying to help out. I just really needed this.

"Sorry miss but you will have to excuse me." The man who helped me had a little bit of guilt in his eyes.

He then tears off the end cloth of my dress. He tears quite a bit of cloth and then wraps it in my arm where the wound is. I was shocked and grateful at the same time. Here I am, a prisoner but this man is helping me like I was a normal person.

I was treated normal and that's all I have wanted for a long time.

"Thank you," I say as sincerely as I could and smile at him.

He looks at me for a second before smiling and nodding. He then proceeds to guide me out of my prison. He then enters the physician's place. The place where I was first brought when I fell down the Clift.

My plan had thankfully worked and all I had to do is sit and wait.

"I'll be right back so don't go anywhere." The guard says and I just simply nod.

I didn't have to wait long as I was surprised by some cloth put over me. I then realize it’s a blanket.

"Here cover yourself with this." He days and comes in front of me.

"I'm sorry did I startle you?" He asks concerned. He must have seen the look in my face.

"Oh no. no. it's okay." I try and reassure him.

"I just thought you would want the blanket because I tore off a little too much cloth from your dress." He says this while rubbing the back of his head. He must have been embarrassed to tear off my dress.

"That's alright. And yes, thank you." I try to sound genuine.

"If you don't mind could I ask you something?" I ask him. He thinks a little before slightly nodding.

"Does the general know that I'm here?" I ask. Hopefully, he doesn't ask me why I need to know that.

"Well of course. A break-in and attack in the prison do not happen so often you know?" He says.

"Ok thank you." I smile and nod.

I notice that the guy in front of me looked quite handsome. He had thick black hair. It wasn't too long but long enough for a man. He had light brown eyes and a pleasant and kind smile.

"So can I know the name of the man that helped me?" I ask curiously.

"It’s Raymond but you can call me Ray." He smiles and stretches a hand.

"I'm Sara. Sara Lilly." I shake hands with him.

"Okay I’ll be off then. The physician will come and look at you in a minute." He smiles.

"Okay then. Thanks again." I say. He then nods and leaves the room.

I wait for a while until the curtains open again. I see Noe and some other woman who I haven't seen before.

"Sara are you okay," Lilly asks with concern.

"Yes. I'm fine." I guess they don't know I'm a prisoner.

"Hello miss. My name is Jill. I'm your physician and Ill be stitching up your wounds. okay?" She asks as she gives me this information.

I simply nod and she starts with the procedure. She stitches up my wound and leaves. The only other people in the room are me and Noe.

"Are you okay?" She asks. She is a down to earth person for as long as I have known her. Which is not too long but still.

"I'm fine you don't have to worry about me," I reassure her with a smile.

"I guess I don't. You are so brave Sara." She smiles.

"I am just lucky that's all."

"No way! The way you handled the situation was amazing. The way that guy attacked you while you were sleeping in your cell-" She stops and has a guilty look in her face.

"You knew?" I ask her. If she did how can she act as if its nothing?

If I was her I would have never spoken to me. I would have never believed a word that I was going to say. I really have changed a lot, haven't I?

"I knew. I'm sorry I just found out through the physician." She says while wearing a worried expression.

"You should know that I never stole anything. I would never do such a thing!" I try to convince her. Noe is one of the only people I can be normal with. I can tell her things and she keeps them to herself.

I just don't want her to think that way of me.

"I believe you! I know you couldn't have done such a thing. You are the sweetest person I know." She says. This made me want to shed tears of happiness.

In between our conversation. The white curtains open to reveal...

The general standing with his arms crossed.
