Chapter Six

Camilla's POV

I wondered what was amiss. 'Is any one playing games with me? And why?'. I closed my eyes and tried to think.

That day, I had gone to the club with Lisa. While she was dancing, I sat down and sipped my drink. My eyes fell on a handsome young man who sat a few meters away. We conversed telepathically and soon, he was walking towards me. We kissed and found our way into one of the rooms. My son was the outcome of what happened in there.

I was certain it was only him. What was Mike and that useless stranger insinuating? I was getting angry. How dare them? How could I not know who I slept with? Were they mistaking me for a prostitute? How… .

My phone rang and it was Michael. I took a deep breath and tried my best to be calm. "Camilla, have you watched the video?", he asked as soon as the call connected.

" Yes".

"What do you think, to the best of my knowledge, it's not Photoshoped. How many…" Michael began. I felt a snap and the last bit of my patience and self control was broken.

"How can you ask me that question? What do you take me for? A prostitute? That I don't know the people or the number of people I sleep with on daily basis? Ehhh?", I asked shouting.

" What's wrong with you? I haven't said anything yet. And I never called you all those names. Camilla?", Mike tried his best to reply calmly.

I knew Mike too well. He was possibly getting angry but was trying to stay calm. I felt slightly bad for shouting at him. But another part of me refused to be calm.

"Listen, if this is what you want to talk about, and this is the kind of nonsense the investigation will bring, then let all those dark figures follow me. I am no longer interested". I said with a tone of finality. Nothing was heard except our breaths. We were quiet for about thirty seconds. Michael cleared his throat, took a deep breath and said, " Okay. If that's what you want, it's fine", and the line went dead. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Nature took its course ten minutes later and I had a troubled night.

Patrick Frost's POV

I looked at the clock again. The third time in two minutes. It was half past twelve. Thirty complete minutes past midnight and Kelvin wasn't home yet. "If only that boy knows the dangers surrounding him. Why can't he ever hear?", I said aloud. I sat down on my bed and remembered what happened today. My mistress resurfaced. Fortunately, Kelvin was away. Else, I won't be able to explain the situation. I had done my best to get rid of her eight years ago. Now, she is back. "Grrrhhhh". My phone rang again disrupting my thoughts and bringing me back to reality. It was her again. Jane.

"Hello?", I spoke into the receiver.

" Mr Frost. I will go straight to the point and not beat about the bush", she said calmly.

"What do you want? What is the problem? Have I not settled you already?"

"Our time zones are different. You should be sleeping by now. So, be nice and let's negotiate". came her voice full of deceit. I frowned slightly. " What is it?"

"My son…"

"And what about him?, I interrupted. Her son was the last name I ever wanted to hear.

"Our son, I mean…"

"He is not my son" I interrupted quickly.

She continued unabated. "The discreet transactions form all those years, I still have them. As well as many others. If you don't want your covers blown up, and yourself becoming a laughing stock, you keep calm and listen to me".

I flared up instantly. " Jane? Have you gone crazy? Are you threatening me? What?" She replied me very calmly. "Soon, you will know". She ended the call and I sighed. I was so angry. That silly woman. I looked at the clock again. 1:00am. I decided to go downstairs for a glass of wine. I needed to cool off my anger. I took a glass of wine and sat on my favorite spot. I sipped in silence. My thoughts wandering and the clock ticking away. Forty minutes later, I heard a little noise at the door. The key was inserted and the door opened slowly. It was Kelvin, walking in majestically like this was the right time to come back. His eyes were bloodshot. He reeked of alcohol and i could smell the alcohol from a distance. "Kelvin", I called softly. He turned and stared at me. I knew something was wrong. Kelvin never got drunk except there was something else I didn't know. He walked towards me, pulled a seat and sat down.

" What have you done, dad?", he asked. I was surprised and at the same time confused. 'What was he talking about?', I wondered. "What do you mean by what have I done?", I asked him. Three seconds passed and I got no response. The boy has fallen asleep. I gulped my wine and stood up.

Kelvin's POV

I kept running along the road with Silas in hot pursuit. I was sweating profusely. I fell down along the road, bruises all over my body. Silas was almost approaching. I opened my mouth to scream.

The rays of the rising sun hit my eyes from the opened windows. I opened my eyes slowly. It was just a dream. I was sweating profusely. I looked around trying to get myself. I saw some servants cleaning and realized I had slept in the sitting room. I yawned and staggered upstairs. I concluded within that work was out of the picture today. I had my bath and drifted to sleep. I didn't know how long I slept when my phone rang. I jerked awake. I had three missed calls already and that was the fourth. I was sad and annoyed that my sleep was interrupted. I was about going back to sleep when the call came again. I checked the caller ID and saw it was my assistant. " President Kelvin, there is fire on the mountain. Mr Frost is here and he is in your office. He is going through some of your files", Greg said as soon as the call connected. The line went dead soon after. I knew it was a discreet call. I had some files in that office that dad must not see. I was investigating a lot surrounding him. He must not see it. I put on my shirt and ran out of the house.
