Chapter 30 Turbulence escalates

Amelia didn't respond; she just stared blankly at him.

Damien helplessly said, "I didn't mean anything else, I just hope you can be happy and not let yourself be wronged."

Amelia's lips trembled slightly, her big eyes quickly turned red, and she looked at Damien like that, with countless emotions intertwining in her heart. Why can this person be so kind? Not letting herself be wronged?

These words have never been said to her by anyone. Her parents always told her that she should contribute to the family, that she should be considerate of her brothers.

No one has ever asked her if she felt wronged. Maybe she doesn't even count as a person in her family, because in the eyes of her family, she shouldn't have her own emotions.

Seeing Amelia's silence, Damien also sighed slightly in his heart. He gently patted Amelia's forehead.

"Let's keep going, it'll get hot later." Amelia pursed her lips, nodded, and continued walking forward.

However, from time to time, she would turn her head to look at Damien. She seemed to be making some kind of decision, but also seemed slightly disappointed.

Anyway, her emotions changed quickly, and Damien didn't catch it. After walking for about half an hour, Amelia had almost finished drinking the bottle of water she brought, and the two of them returned.

Damien accompanied Amelia to the downstairs.

"You go upstairs by yourself, I'll go to work. If you need anything, give me a call."

Amelia nodded and looked at his slightly dry lips. After hesitating for a moment, she handed him the water bottle.

"You should drink some water too, we've been walking for so long." Damien just looked at her and didn't take it.

Amelia felt a bit anxious, her eyes subconsciously wanting to avoid his gaze, but she tried hard to hold it back and smiled brightly at Damien. Damien pursed his lips, took the water bottle from her, unscrewed the lid, and took a few sips.

Amelia felt a little disappointed, thinking that he would use it... Damien watched Amelia go inside, licked his lips lightly, smiled with lowered eyes, and then turned to get in the car. Amelia stood in the elevator holding the water bottle, her heart beating faster because of the sudden idea that came up in the morning.

She looked at the numbers on the elevator jumping continuously, took a few deep breaths, and whispered to herself, "Nothing is impossible. I'm still young, I can afford to lose."

She walked out of the elevator quickly and immediately asked as soon as she entered the door, "Ms. Linda, have you seen my phone?"

Ms. Linda was startled for a moment and took out Amelia's phone from the drawer of the coffee table.

"Here it is, young master put it there." Amelia took out her phone. She had originally intended to make a phone call, but she was shocked to see that she had hundreds of missed calls. Amelia was completely stunned. What is going on? Why are so many people calling her? She opened the calls and found that most of them were from unfamiliar numbers, and they were all from out of town.

She couldn't help but look at Ms. Linda, suddenly feeling a sense of unease. She continued scrolling down and saw eight or nine calls from home, as well as one from Ashley. She closed her eyes slightly, feeling a bit overwhelmed now...

Afraid to answer the phone at home, as it always leads to arguments. My mother's incessant cursing is like a spell that tightens around her, impossible to escape.

Without receiving a call back from her family phone, Amelia stood up and walked to the balcony to call Ashley.

As soon as the call connected, Ashley urgently shouted, "Amelia, you need to hide immediately and don't come home. They're after you! Don't let them find you."

Amelia's face changed, and she leaned against the railing, feeling weak. "What?" she asked.

Ashley's voice was frantic, and the background was extremely noisy. Amelia could hear many people speaking, but couldn't make out what they were saying.

"There are many people gathered outside your house. Don't come out, make sure you hide. I have to hang up now. I'll let you know if there's any news."

Hearing the busy tone on the phone, Amelia remained in a daze. Someone was after her? People were blocking her store's entrance?

The problem was, she still didn't understand what she had done wrong. How could someone target her like this? Wasn't the online harassment and taking out their anger on her enough? Did they really have to disturb her peace? She didn't even know what atrocious thing she had done to provoke such widespread anger.

Amelia stood on the balcony for a while, appearing calm, before she went inside and changed her shoes to go out.

Rather than going directly to the office, Damien went to Noah's club. The club was already bustling in the morning, and upon seeing Damien, many people kept their distance. Mr. Kingsley was not as approachable as Noah.

Noah was flirting with a girl when Damien entered without knocking. The girl's eyes immediately lit up, and she couldn't take her eyes off Damien. She even flirted with him.

But Damien might have poor eyesight because he clearly didn't catch the girl's gestures. He coldly ordered, "Get out."

Startled, the girl looked at Damien with a pitiful expression. Mr. Kingsley completely ignored her. She turned her gaze to Noah, on the verge of tears. When Noah didn't say anything, she reluctantly left.

Noah picked up a glass of wine, took a sip, and leaned back on the couch, looking at Damien.

"Damien, are you frustrated? Is that why you came here early in the morning to vent your anger?"

Damien sat down and angrily looked at Noah.

"What happened to what you promised me last night? Weren't you supposed to make sure that today's public opinion would overwhelmingly praise her? How is it that she's being targeted by everyone now?"

Noah gulped down the wine and seemed a little guilty.

"It's not my fault, I had already arranged for a large number of internet trolls. There were tens of thousands of them. With the trolls bombarding the internet, public opinion would surely have been turned in her favor. But then, last night, someone suddenly leaked her name and people started digging into her personal life. I only found out after I woke up. But don't worry, Damien, I've already ordered the trolls to continue their work. Public opinion will turn positive again soon."

Damien glanced at him coldly. "If I trust you again, then I'm a fool. I shouldn't have believed in your unreliability last night. I don't need your trolls; I'll handle it myself."

He walked away, leaving Noah slightly anxious and regretful.

At the entertainment club, as soon as they got into the car, they took out their phones and called his secretary, Jim.

"Contact the several major media companies we have partnered with. I need them to release a press statement together. Additionally, directly report the person behind the scenes of Melonie to the police. Remove everything about Melonie from the internet, including her account and any trace of her."

Outside Amelia's fried chicken shop, there was a bustling crowd, with many people gathered.

They held banners, calling Amelia a homewrecker or a bootlicker, claiming that the CEO wouldn't even give her a glance and only liked Victoria.

On the banner, it also said: "Amelia, you homewrecker, have some shame."

Ashley desperately tried to squeeze her way into the crowd, but those people stood at the entrance of the shop and refused to leave. They discussed loudly, but didn't go inside the shop, preventing customers from entering.

Judy and David were shocked by the situation inside the shop. David had come out several times to speak nicely to them, saying they still wanted to do business and not to block the entrance.

However, those people asked him, "Do you think it's shameful for your daughter to be a homewrecker?"
