Chapter 27 The little girl wants to chat
Damien didn't answer Noah's question and hung up the phone.
Amelia actually slept very restlessly.
She was having very vivid and violent dreams, she dreamt that she was being chased and cursed at by unfamiliar faces, telling her she was delusional and asking her if she really thought being a lapdog would have a good ending. Even if she licked Mr. Kingsley, would he even spare her a glance? Mr. Kingsley doesn't even know her, okay?
Various hurtful words echoed in her mind, as if they were chaining her even in her dreams.
She woke up with a start, and abruptly opened her eyes. She saw only darkness filling the room.
She touched her sweaty forehead and hugged her knees. It took her a while before she finally calmed herself down.
She got up and turned on the lights, and as she walked towards the door, she heard the sound of the study door next door opening. She immediately opened the door.
Seeing Damien coming out, she walked towards the sofa.
"Mr. Kingsley."
Damien responded.
Amelia was momentarily stunned when she saw Damien's face.
"Why did you wake up? Did you need anything? Are you feeling okay?"
He walked towards Amelia, his gaze falling on her feet, with a slight frown on his forehead.
Amelia immediately lowered her eyes and wiggled her toes.
"I'll go back soon, um... don't sleep on the couch. You have to go to work every day, and the couch is not comfortable."
Damien couldn't help but think about Amelia, who had snuggled into his embrace last night. The scent of the girl's body tormented him the whole night, and he couldn't sleep well. He was worried that Amelia would wake up in panic, so he got up early.
Seeing Damien hesitate, Amelia tightened her grip on her nightgown and spoke softly.
"The bed... is quite big. I sleep very well, won't... take up too much space."
Damien's lips twitched slightly.
Did this girl have any misunderstanding about him?
Seeing the shy and nervous look of the young girl, Damien chuckled lightly.
"Alright, then I'll go sleep in the room later, you go to bed first."
"What about you?" Amelia blurted out.
"I'm going to take a shower."
Amelia turned back to the room, slammed the door shut, and leaned against it, clutching her hair.
Why did she ask that? What could she do in the middle of the night? She didn't want to give Mr. Kingsley any wrong ideas, did she?
She regretfully tugged at her hair, returned to bed, and instinctively reached for her phone on the bedside table. Not finding it, she searched under the pillow, but it wasn't there either. Could it be...?
She suddenly realized that she wasn't sleeping in the bedroom. Before she fell asleep... she was crying? Damien was hugging her? Amelia covered her face, her ears turning hot.
She suddenly thought of the words that cursed her in the nightmare, saying that she was a dog, and dogs didn't end well.
Her face turned pale again. She didn't initially intend to have any relationship with Mr. Kingsley, she just wanted her baby to survive. She really didn't act like a dog.
Hearing a knock on the door, Amelia quickly pulled the blanket over herself.
"Come in."
Damien pushed the door open. He was wearing casual clothes, with his arms and legs exposed. His skin was very fair, and the muscles on his arms were sleek, making him truly, somewhat criminally attractive.
Amelia turned her head away, not saying anything.
She heard Damien cough and then heard him approach.
"Well, if you're not comfortable, I can..."
"It's alright!"
Amelia looked up at him and pursed her lips.
"I'm fine, don't sleep outside."
Damien nodded and sat down by the bed.
"Then... let's sleep."
Amelia immediately lay down and took up one side, but in reality, she was quite slim and only occupied a small space.
This bed was about two meters and forty-five centimeters wide, with enough room for two people to sleep on each side and another person in the middle.
Damien had taken out his own blanket a few days ago, so they each had their own blanket, and they really slept apart, without any contact.
Amelia tightly grasped the corner of the blanket, her attention involuntarily focused on what was behind her as she listened...
Mr. Kingsley's breathing, as well as Mr. Kingsley occasionally turning over.
She just took a nap and really can't fall asleep now.
She took a deep breath and asked, "Mr. Kingsley, is my phone in the living room?"
Damien, who usually sleeps on his back, half closed his eyes and made a faint "hmm".
"I put it away, you can check it tomorrow, sleep now."
She thought about what happened that night, about being pushed to the hot search, and she was still confused about it. She had no idea how she suddenly gained so much attention from so many people.
"After the online discussion is over, will people forget about it or keep clinging to it?" she asked.
Damien turned his head to look at her.
"Aren't you a fan of Jasper? Don't you know what it's like online?"
Amelia was instantly left speechless. Well, she actually knew. She knew that she would probably be criticized for a long time. But that's just how people are. Even when they know the outcome won't be good, they still want to hear someone tell them a good result and find comfort in it.
"Do you really like Jasper?" Damien asked.
Amelia felt like this question sounded familiar. Mr. Kingsley seemed to have asked it before, but since she couldn't sleep now, she patiently answered it again.
"Yes, I do. I really like him. I've liked him for three years, since he was still a little rookie. Of course, the first thing that caught my attention was his good looks. You have no idea, at that time I thought he was incredibly good-looking, handsome from every angle. Later, I became a fan and got used to paying attention to him. But I've never gotten into fights with people online before, although I did help him fight against negative rumors and manipulated data. But I haven't bought any of the products he endorses. I don't have much pocket money, and those endorsements are ridiculously expensive. All I can do is help him with data and fight against rumors."
Damien didn't fully understand what Amelia said afterward, but he understood one thing - Amelia was poor. She was a student, so she did what she could to support her idol.
"It seems like you really like him!" Damien's voice was somewhat deep, but Amelia couldn't hear it clearly.
"What did you say, Mr. Kingsley?" Amelia asked.
Damien calmly replied, "It's nothing, just go to sleep."
Amelia didn't want to sleep. She suddenly thought that Mr. Kingsley came from a wealthy family, so he must have the opportunity to meet celebrities. She wanted to learn more about her idol from him.
"Mr. Kingsley, Jasper has a good reputation in the industry. Have you...met him before?"
"I don't know."
This answer came as a surprise to Amelia, to the point where she forgot to feel embarrassed. She turned around abruptly and looked directly into Damien's eyes.
"You don't know if you've met him or not?"
Damien's eyes were deep.
"Is that strange? There are so many celebrities that come to me every day, is it strange that I can't remember all of them?"
"Oh!" Amelia's mouth twitched, and for a moment, she didn't know what else to say.
Next, okay, she knew that Damien, this rich young master from a prestigious family, was indeed very popular among the stars, and there were too many people who wanted to climb up to him.
At the same time, her heart was filled with sorrow.
Yes, Jasper was the person she could only hope for but couldn't have, while Mr. Kingsley was the person even Jasper could only hope for but couldn't have. She even had the feeling that she was extremely lucky to have slept with Damien.
