Dominic’s P.O.V. (Continued)
Ever since we reunited, she has never slept alone. Either I, Natasha, or Victoria sleeps with her. I never felt anything odd about this situation, but now it brought guilt and pain to me with so much force that I felt my chest crushed by them.
I closed my eyes again, but my thoughts were in turmoil.
I remembered that both Patrick and Violet told me that it was Michael who found Violet back then and informed Patrick about her.
Something didn’t add up here.
I knitted my brows and opened my eyes while trying to place all the information that I got about Violet’s situation back then in an order.
“Sleep now, Dom. You are thinking too much.” She grumbled in her sleep again.
I sighed and decided to do this tomorrow morning.
“Okay, love.” I murmured and stopped thinking about the past.
Soon, the sleep started taking over my consciousness.
Violet’s P.O.V.
“Finally home.” I murmured happily while sitting on my bed…
My bed…. I missed it so much…
True to his words, Dominic converted our bedroom into a private hospital ward. He even hired a personal OB and her assistant for me.
I was a little annoyed by their presence in our home, but this was still better than a hospital room.
Two nurses helped me get comfortable on the bed. I was feeling better and could move on my own, but they still helped me.
“Mrs. Whitemore. If you want to work, you can, but you need to take a break every forty minutes.” The doctor, Nadia Shaw, instructed me with a gentle voice.
“That’s a big relief for me, Nadia. You don’t know how boring it is to stay idle. Heck, I even watched the same drama thrice a day before yesterday.” I complained while remembering my days in the hospital.
“You are quite a patient one, Mrs. Whitemore.” She remarked with a teasing smirk.
“You tell.” I grumbled but leaned back. The drive from hospital to home was only forty minutes, but I felt a bit exhausted.
“Rest for a while. I have already informed Ms. Madden that you are home and can do some work. You can’t see the dramas all the time, but you can’t work on the laptop all the time either. I have already prepared a schedule for you. We will discuss that once Ms. Madden comes.” She instructed me in a calm manner, and then I gave a nod in understanding.
She walked out of the room, and I closed my eyes.
I had been in the hospital for more than five days, and Dominic didn’t stay with me before last night because he stayed with Natasha at home.
I am not complaining. I am happy with that, though.
After we reconciled, Natasha didn’t get enough time to spend with Dominic because of that accident. Natasha spent two months in the hospital.
Dominic goes on business trips three or four times a month. So, they didn’t get enough time to be together.
Still, I was happy that he decided to stay despite my protest.
“Mrs. Whitemore.” I slowly opened my eyes when someone called me in a soft voice.
A maid entered the room with a tray in her hands. “Dr. Shaw asked me to bring this soup for you.” She told me while bringing the soup to me.
One nursing assistant also entered the room and went towards a cupboard that had all the medical supplies.
I didn’t like people coming in my personal space, but I guess I had to tolerate it until I give birth to the baby.
The assistant brought a small table that can be used on the bed. The assistant adjusted the table in front of me, and the maid put the tray on the table.
I thanked both of them and smelled the soup before taking the spoon. It felt good to be pampered by your husband, right?
Still, the bitter memories of my first delivery never left me. “Don’t think about those bad things anymore, Violet. That time had passed. Just think that you had to go through hardship before getting the good things more. You know that we always appreciate good things after enduring some hardship, right?” Victoria telling me in a calm and composed manner while entering the room.
“And how do you know that I am thinking about the worst part of my past?” I asked her with a teasing smile on my lips.
She sat down on the other side of the table and looked at me with a calm gaze.
“Because I can read your face.” She answered calmly, making me raise my brows in surprise.
“Just finish your soup. It will not taste good if it gets cold.” She grumbled while jerking her chin, signalling towards the soup.
“Who stole your dog?” I asked her teasingly and drank a spoonful of soup after that.
“I hate dogs.” She grumbled, and I laughed but choked on the soup that I tried to gulp down.
She immediately stood up and came behind me.
“You made me choke.” I complained while coughing a little.
“Who asked you to laugh while drinking?” She scolded me while patting my back.
“Okay, my bad.” I admitted, still coughing lightly.
She poured a glass of water and gave me the glass.
“What happened?” The same nurse who came earlier asked me worriedly while coming inside the room.
I guess her name was Luna.
“Nothing, she laughed while drinking. Victoria replied to her in a flat tone.
I sipped water a few times before giving the glass back to Victoria.
“Are you feeling any other discomfort, Mrs. Whitemore?” Luna asked me in a concerned tone.
“No, thanks for asking though.” I smiled at the end. She smiled back and walked out of the room.
She closed the door after exiting the room.
“Dominic really loves you.” Victoria remarked while going back to her previous spot on the bed.
“Yeah, that I know.” I replied calmly and started drinking the soup again. I glanced at her a few times and sighed in my heart.
Victoria is a strong-minded woman. Her heart is not also that soft as mine. She also had strong control over her emotions.
But now she was in a relationship with Patrick.
I am sure that just like other relationships, they are also having their disputes.
Her phone started ringing when I was about to say something to her. I sighed and concentrated on finishing the soup.
“Good afternoon, Ms. Stanley.” She greeted the person in a formal way. I paused for a second, then resumed drinking.
I wasn’t hungry, but the soup was delicious.
“Mrs. Whitemore just got discharged from the hospital, Ms. Stanley. She is pregnant, and because of the instability of her pregnancy, she is strictly on bed rest. If it’s convenient, we can have a video conference.” She replied to the person on the other side in the same manner.
Ms. Stanley????
I tried to remember who this person was. Victoria maintained an expressionless face while talking to Ms. Stanley.
Are we in the middle of discussing any new project?
