Chapter 73 Going Far, With My Heir

Chapter 73 Going Far, With My Heir

Ira left, wishing me an easy pregnancy and saying she'd come visit more often from now on. I vented, shared my pain. I felt better, but for how long? A few days later, I went to see Evgenia for a routine checkup.

She examined me, and from her frowning face, I realized something was wrong. A shudder of anxiety washed over me. "Sarah, you need to get screened and consult with specialists in the city."

"Is there a problem?"

"No, no! Our machine just died just a few days ago, and the government isn't rushing to provide a new one. I'm sending everyone to the city now.” The doctor explained.

"I see," I replied with a hint of panic. "Okay, I'll go."

I answered and went to prepare for this event, which always left me in a terrible panic. I'd left the village before, but only a couple of times. I always exercise caution and take care of my disguise.

Arriving in the city, I entered the large, snow-white building, looking around. Always on guard. I was glad there was no line, and I didn't have to wait long. Every minute was like a countdown to a bomb going off.

I found the right office, greeted the doctor, and easily climbed onto the examination table. One thing was good: today I would be told the sex of my baby.

The diagnostics were over. I happily floated toward the clinic exit, clutching the scan. A tear of happiness slid down my cheek.

I walked through the glass doors and down the steps, heading toward the bus stop. As I walked, I was lost in memories and thought only of what I saw on the monitor.

How much my baby had grown! Four months ago, I saw only a tiny bean, but now I can clearly see his head, arms, and legs. How he was actively waving them and even heard his heartbeat.

And then the doctor told me the gender… And then I burst into tears even more! I'm going to have… The sharp screech of brakes made me freeze in place, throw my head back, and turn pale.

Holy shit!

No!

Not this!

No!

I wanted to scream out loud, at the top of my lungs, when I saw a tinted foreign car stop right in front of me, blocking my path. The doors swung open, and two men in dark suits jumped out, surrounding me like a hungry flock of vultures.

A frosty, terrifying chill ran down my spine, stinging like a swarm of killer bees. Because another man had stepped out of the car. A third.

My soul sank into my boots...

It was HIM! It was him...

But so different. Fierce, menacing, terrifyingly angry! It was as if we hadn't seen each other for years, ten, at least. After all, that's how long it takes for a person to change beyond recognition.

I couldn't believe my own eyes; I refused to accept this nightmarish reality!

How I felt, how I knew! That we would meet...And that hour came sooner than I would have liked.

It was naive to think that I, such a frail and feeble little insect, could continue to carelessly lead the world's evil by the nose. My legs gave way, my breath caught in my throat, and my entire life flashed before my eyes.

His predatory eyes gleamed dangerously, and his stunning, full-lipped mouth grinned in a devilishly dangerous smile.

Shawn caught up with me just a couple of deft steps away and quickly grabbed me by the back of my head. He squeezed firmly.

I looked into the eyes of death itself... Which had come for me. And drowned in the cold and abyss of their dark color. I saw nothing there but hatred and rage. Those eyes had pronounced my sentence. My agonizing doom!

And then his menacing roar crashed down on me like a frosty avalanche: "Going far, little one? With my heir in your belly!”

"Let me go!" I struggle, but it's no use. He's so strong, like a bear! Especially when his inner world is filled with hatred.

Tears roll down my cheeks. I'm scared, so scared that I lose the ability to move or even breathe.

He holds me tightly and mercilessly. His fingers, like eagle claws, scratch my delicate skin, leaving red marks. And he squeezes until I bruise. As if his hands weren't hands at all, but bear traps.

"Did you think I'd never find out about your secret?" His hand falls on my rounded belly. "You're pregnant, Sarah. And this child is mine!"

"No!" I lie, but my trembling betrays me.

"I'm here to take what's mine."

"Take what?! What are you talking about? Let me go this instant!”

Shawn drags me to the car and slams me back into the side door. One hand remains on the back of my head, clutching my hair, while the other digs into both my wrists like a trap. My wrists are so thin and delicate that he easily holds them with one hand. One more effort and they'll snap like reeds.

"Boss, can I help you?" But one of the big guys is still worried about his highly respected master.

"No, I'll handle it myself! Causing pain and terror to her gives me unimaginable pleasure!" The asshole billionaire grinned bloodthirstily.
