Chapter 58 Great Offer

Chapter 58 Great Offer
Sarah

"I feel fine, you don't need to take me to the doctor." I said.

Shawn gently strokes me with his fingertips. I almost purr with pleasure, my body having become too accustomed to his caresses. "Does your head hurt?"

“No.” I am enjoying his warmth.

“And how did you sleep last night?” He chuckled.

“I slept amazingly,” I blurt out automatically. I blush deeply. Because we slept in the same bed last night. Because Shawn was guarding my sleep, I didn’t have any nightmares.

“Well, I’m late,” the man suddenly remembers, looking at the wall clock, and removes his hands.

“I see.”

Shawn heads for the hallway, and I follow him. He slows his pace, making his voice firm: “Don’t tell Kate you live in this building. And about our relationship too… If you do a good job at my company, you’ll be able to buy yourself an apartment and move out very soon.”

Seriously? He’s not joking? So, by working for him, I can earn enough to buy my own apartment?

“Then I’ll try my best!” Shawn's unexpected announcement had me quite motivated.

"A car will pick you up tomorrow morning. You start work tomorrow." With a wink, he said goodbye and left the house. And I started unpacking my bag again.

What's happening to me again? I've never experienced such emotions raging inside my heart. They're strange. No, crazy! Because I've never fallen in love before... That's probably why they seem so new to me. So head over heels and so passionate.

I hadn't even finished breakfast when my phone rang. Picking it up, I saw an unfamiliar number on the screen. I quickly answered. "Sarah, hi. Did you recognize me?"

"W-what?" I even started stuttering in surprise.

"It's Kate. Shawn said... were you in an accident?" He asked.

"Yes, but everything worked out. I got off easy," I said nervously.

"Thank goodness! Listen, I was wondering if you could join me shopping today?" she offered.

Wow! her voice sounded perfectly calm, yet there was still a hint of arrogance there. I was very surprised by her offer, and even by the call itself. "I, um..."

"Great! Meet me at twelve at the Plaza, what do you say?" She didn't even let me think about it, but this girl was clearly good at persuasion. And in general, she wasn't acting as arrogantly as she had yesterday.

She must have reconsidered her behavior, or maybe Shawn had something to do with it. So this time, I decided to accommodate her. "Okay. Let's meet."

"Great! I'll wait at the Plaza. Ciao!" she quickly hung up.

Well, what's the harm in trying? The first attempt is always a failure. This time, she was friendly with me, so I decided to give it another try to mend fences with the unexpectedly appearing relatives.

After all... she's my sister. Maybe she was just in a bad mood last night? Well, it happens to everyone. As they say, people need a second chance.

To my great surprise, our meeting with Kate was warm and friendly. Today, she looked somehow different: minimal makeup and simpler clothes. There's no longer the glint of disdain I saw last time.

She must have drawn some conclusions, or maybe Shawn prompted her to do so, after which she decided to make amends. Maybe he is right, and she was just having a rough day; I shouldn't have judged someone based on the first hour of our conversation.

I liked her better; I even started communicating openly with her, and then we went shopping. Of course, I didn't want to buy anything for myself, but she got carried away and practically forced me into stores, forcing me to try on clothes.

"It's a gift! It's not nice to refuse!" she grunted at me, burying me in a mountain of clothes, which she simply swept off the shelves.

In the end, we had a really good time. I updated my wardrobes and reconnected. She said I could call her more often, especially if I was feeling sad. She also promised that when parents returned, we'd have lunch together somewhere.

The turmoil that had been building in my heart for many, many years began to dissipate. It's incredible to be surrounded by loved ones and people who love you. To have friends, or better yet, family, and not be alone.

The next day, a shiny foreign car pulled up to Shawn's country house. I felt numbness in every limb with delight! It was Shawn's personal driver, and he had come to pick me up to take me to his work.

For the occasion, I wore an elegant ensemble, a white skirt, and a black blouse that she had picked out for me during yesterday's shopping trip. It came in handy!

To be honest, this look looked impressive on me, and it cost the same. I'm sure when Shawn sees me like this, refreshed, completely different, he'll be stunned.

Shawn's Company looked not just enormous, but enormous, taking up an entire nine-story high-rise. Seeing all this amazing power, I almost whistled.

He greeted me with wide eyes, as if he didn't recognize me, which naturally made me feel embarrassed. Then, taking my wrist, he smiled charmingly and whispered in my ear: "You are very beautiful."

His warm fingers burned my wrist, and his hot breath seared my skin. And once again, I felt like I was on top of Kilimanjaro. Without safety nets, standing two centimeters from the edge.

Shawn brought me up to speed, explained my responsibilities, and I got to work. So I slowly began to integrate into the team and get used to my new place of work.

Working for a Forbes Top 10 employee was difficult and overly nerve-wracking, but I never gave up, no matter what the situation. A difficult life has hardened me since childhood.

"Hey, hold the elevator!"

I instantly emerge from my tedious thoughts as I step into the elevator, preparing to head home after a very busy day at work.

I shudder at the sound of that beautiful, husky voice, because I know who it belongs to. I reflexively reach out, preventing the doors from closing completely.

Clang! The expensive leather shoes step into the elevator, and our eyes meet. Like stormy ocean waves meeting a massive cliff.

The elevator doors slammed shut behind us. We were left in the elevator. Alone… I instantly felt a flush of heat.
