Chapter 57 Packing Again

Panicking, I pack my things into my bag. I can't look the bastard in the eye! The sight of them makes me lose it. His beautiful eyes act like a drug on me. We couldn't stop again. Something too powerful is blazing between us. Chemicals? No, more powerful.
I know I need to stop, but I can't control the inner flame. This is the first time this has happened to me. But we're not meant for each other. Shawn is probably already engaged to my sister.

Having packed my bag, I sling it over my shoulder and head for the exit, but he suddenly blocks the way with his body.

I slow down. Looking into the man's eyes, filled with all seriousness, I realize he's not lying. "Really?"
"Yes." He determined.

I cool down, breathing a sigh of relief. "Fine, if the debt needs to be worked off, I'll work it off. Tell me what I need to do?"
"So, I have a tempting offer for you." He created suspense.
"What is it?" I'm curious.
"Remember, I promised to get you a good job?" he said.
"Yes..." I replied.
"It so happens that my secretary went on maternity leave, and I'm currently looking for a replacement. What do you say? Want to try it? Work in my office?" He asked.
"Wow... quite an unexpected offer," I paused thoughtfully.
"Agree." He looked happy.
"I don't even know," I shrug.
"Let's say by helping me around the office, you'll be working off the debt I paid off for you before." He explained.
"Ah, in that case..." I understand fucking asshole billionaire. Maybe it's worth the risk? When would I, a simple girl, have gotten such a decent position?

"Kate rarely shows up in my office. I don't think she'll be jealous. You're her sister, after all. We're strictly friends," he whispered in a noticeably low tone and licked his lower lip.
My heart beat faster when I saw his tongue lewdly flick across my lower lip. “Yes, you're right. Of course, our relationship is purely friendly,” I whispered breathlessly, glancing at his luscious lips. “Let's not cross that line. I agree to work for your company. I'll give it a try…”
“Wonderful! Regarding Kate, yesterday's meeting wasn't exactly cordial. She and your parents reacted that way out of surprise. I think you need a little time to get used to each other. I left her your phone number.” He further said.
“And how did she react when you ran after me? She asked you to stay, wanted you to spend the evening alone.” I’m curious.
“Last night, you were almost hit by a car. I managed to push you out of the way in time, but you hit your head. Don't you remember?”
I shrugged, surprised.
"While I was driving you home, I called Kate and told her you almost got into an accident. She was visibly worried, by the way. She insisted that I take care of you." He said.
"Really? She was worried about me?"
"Yes, I could tell by her voice she was scared." Shawn comes close to me, runs his fingers through my hair, pressing on the top of my scalp. "You have a pretty big lump there... You should see a doctor. I messed up yesterday; I should have gone to the hospital, but I got confused and drove home. My mistake! Sorry."
