Chapter 279 A Big Misunderstanding!
Eve meanwhile closed her mouth. The puzzle that had been encountered all this time was revealed. Maira is Damian's half-sister, although they are not related by blood, but it seems that Damian loves her very much.
Wait a minute, Aunt Liana? If Maira is his sister then....Aunt Liana..Damian's stepmother?
Eve just remembered that in their house there used to be a woman who worked as a cleaner, named Aunt Liana, with a little girl.
Eve and Maira were the same age, which made them play together more often. Eventually, they also went to the same school. Until one day, Auntie Liana left, leaving only a piece of paper to Eve's mum and dad.
Damian turned to Eve who still looked shocked.
"Well, she's Maira! Your little friend Maira, your best friend my mum Liana! Your family kicked her out, and they've been running ever since Eve! Why would your family kick her out, after you helped her? Huh?!" said Damian looking at Eve with a hurt look on his face.
"Wait a minute, we never kicked her out! Maira's my best friend! My father also considers her his own daughter because..." Eve's mouth fell silent and looked at Claire who was still injured but there was a tear in the cloth that kept the wound from getting worse like Aunt Damian had given her. Eve then also looked at everyone.
"Really? So why did Maira say she was kicked out by your family and you humiliated her at school by saying she was an illegitimate child and her mother was a prostitute! Making Maira whine about being transferred to my mum Liana! But Mum tried to understand until finally they left because they couldn't stand it and were kicked out by you!" Damian explained, starting to get angry when he remembered his younger sister's story.
"What? Where did you get that information? My family and I never did that at all! In fact, we already consider Maira as their own sister and daughter! Even the day they left home, my father felt so guilty! We were sad! Aunt Liana only left a piece of paper that I forgot what it said...but I still have it...the point is...if I'm not mistaken...she said...she didn't want to trouble my family anymore! It shouldn't be us who have to bear it but...someone else!" Eve said to Damian with an equally confused look.
"Really? Do you still have the letter? Can I see it?" said Damian as if curious he seemed to get a glimmer of hope.
"There is! I'll show you what I'm looking for first! Wait a minute, you knew about this too, didn't you, Claire? Why didn't you tell Maira, Claire? Why did you seem to be hiding it? Is that why Maira hated me so much? And almost sold me that time? You were so close too! There's no way she wouldn't have said something! What are you trying to hide, Claire?" said Eve looking at her cousin.
Damian looked at Eve and then at Claire, "So, Claire knows about this too? What did you say earlier? Maira sold you?"
Eve turned her head, "Well, when I needed funds for my sick sister! You know, back then. You helped me, and then you came back...I went to see Robert's girlfriend, I mean my ex-girlfriend. And that's when I met Maira! She wanted to help me, but it turns out Maira sold me to her friend Andrew McGuire! Andrew McGuire was also the one who made a scene when we attended a dinner for Allan's potential investors! The rest I didn't know was...Maira..."
"Well, Maira was arrested, I bailed her out! Luckily they didn't have any evidence so it was easy for me to bail her out! I only found out afterwards! After Maira told me everything! That she was bothering you on purpose! And she asked me for help! Including..." Damian paused.
"Including scaring me by sending me threatening letters that I would have to leave Allan, right, Damian? And I'm sure that you were also the one who sent a picture of me to Jessica's diehard fans so that they would come to harm me, and then you came to my rescue like a knight, didn't you Damian? What else did you plan to do after that? Marry me, torture me, avenge your sister for something I didn't do?" Eve disappointedly looked at Damian.
Damian was startled and looked down. Suddenly, Claire's laugh could be heard in the room.
"Hahaha...it turns out you're smart too Eve! Well, Damian...I didn't expect you to be that smart! Check...check...check...I didn't expect you to be more cruel and evil than I thought! You always accuse me of being sneaky and manipulative, but it turns out we're the same! And you're more than that!" Claire, who was grimacing in pain, held back in order to reply to Damian's words.
"Shut up Claire! You don't know anything! Eve listen I'm not entirely sure what you're saying is true! I-I did...send that drown plane to you, but not to hurt you but I wanted you to stay away from Allan! That's it...the rest I don't know!" said Damian.
"You're a liar!" exclaimed Eve, holding back her disappointment.
"I'm not lying! I mean it! I regret that I went along with my sister's wishes that time...she..she..asked me to host you at my Café, because Maira had plans. But I never knew about Maira selling you! I didn't know!" exclaimed Damian trying to get close to Eve but Eve avoided him.
"You believe that Eve? You're a fool if you still believe that!" Claire was busy encouraging Eve not to fall for Damian's persuasion.
"Shut up, Claire;" Damian chastised Claire in annoyance.
"Damian, lower your voice! It's not good to speak in such a high tone especially to your future wife!" This time it was her Uncle who was now sitting down due to his heart condition.
"You're still defending her after what happened here? Do you know that she was the one who planned to hurt Eve by inviting Maira to work together! Indirectly, she deliberately heated up Maira! By the time Eve came to the campus, everything was already planned by Claire! Claire deliberately asked Robert to make out, but as for their affair, it's true! It's just that Claire took advantage of the situation and like an accident Maira appeared in front of her! She planned it!" Damian said irritably.
Eve looked up, "What? So it's true, Claire? Is it true that you guys work together?"
Claire looked away.
Uncle stood back up and looked at Damian and Eve, "That's it! That's it! Claire must have been forced by Maira, your illegitimate sister! Claire couldn't have done it, she must be being used!"
Claire, who heard Uncle Damian's defense, had a sardonic smile and then rushed towards Uncle Dixon, Damian's uncle.
"Thank you, Uncle! You're very kind and only you and Auntie believe in me! Hikhik...I was forced by Maira Uncle! She... she..." Claire sobbed again and her tears started to fall.
"Never mind, we believe in you! Don't cry anymore, okay?" said the uncle, patting her head and stroking Claire's hair gently.
"Thank you, Uncle, Aunty!" Cliare exclaimed with emotion.
"Never mind, my wife, please help Claire treat her wound, she's hurt!" cried the uncle again.
"Yes, my husband! Come on, dear, let's treat your wound first!" the aunt led Claire by the shoulder to the back to find the medicine box.
Damian raised his hands up and shook his head at his Uncle and Aunt's behavior.
"I can't believe this!" he said irritably.
"And you, you ignorant woman! You already have a husband and children but you're still flirting with single men, aren't you? What do you want from Damian? His property? How much are you asking to stay away from Demian?" said the Uncle looking back at Eve with an insulting look.
Eve's heart was hurt, she was regarded like a lowly woman this time.
"Uncle..." Damian looked back at his Uncle with dislike.
"Shut up, Damian! You've had plenty of chances to talk since then! Now, it's uncle's turn. So, what are you waiting for? What's your price, slut?" the uncle asked with increasing mockery.
Eve's blood boiled, she angrily stared at the older man. She was about to respect him, but his words really hurt Eve.
"I...am not that kind of woman, Uncle! I'm not a cheap woman that Uncle can pay off with your money! Mr Dixon Lions! I don't need your money! I have more than enough money of my own!" Eve said with her chest rising and falling.
"Arrogant slut! I'm glad you don't want it! So, what are you waiting for? There's the door! Or do you want me to drag you, huh?" said the Uncle who started to move and pulled Eve's hand forcefully.
Eve rebelled and made the two of them tug of war. Damian who saw it became a little confused about what to do.
Eve was accidentally thrown and fell to the floor for several meters. Her knee was bleeding.
"Mummy!" a little girl suddenly burst out from the top of the stairs where she had been hiding.
Eve was about to get up but she fell, until a big hand helped her.
"Thank you!" Eve said softly.
"No problem, you're my responsibility, Eve!" Eve turned her head and froze instantly.
"Y-you?"
