Chapter 241 Damian's misfortune, and Allan's jealousy!
Eve didn't answer, Eve parked Allan's car in the area of her apartment. Right in front of her apartment, after parking, Eve got out.
Eve approached the person who seemed to be waiting in the lobby room to go to the lift of her apartment. Followed by Allan who was carrying Aleena, Allan walked slowly behind Eve.
"Eve!" Damian approached Eve who was walking towards him.
Eve smiled kindly, and Allan hated it, hated Eve's smile for the man.
"You? Coming with Eve?" the man asked and seeing Aleena in his arms hurriedly approached and immediately wanted to take Aleena from Allan's arms. But Allan avoided him. The person looked at Eve and then looked at Allan.
"Let me carry her, sir! Poor Mister must be tired..." the man exclaimed.
Allan glared, "Don't even try to carry her! She's sleeping! Stay away, Eve, show me your apartment!"
"Damian, sorry! But Allan's right, Aleena's asleep, I'm afraid she'll wake up and get cranky if she doesn't get enough sleep. What are you doing here, Damian?" Eve asked softly.
Damian let out his breath, "Sorry Eve, I just checked my phone earlier, so I rushed here! I went to the school, but it was deserted, so I rushed to your apartment. I was worried that Aleena wouldn't be there to pick me up, so...once again I'm sorry Eve! Today the Cafe is so crowded, I couldn't just stay put! It wasn't until I was done that I saw your message, and it was too late, I guess. Sorry!"
Eve smiled awkwardly, as Allan looked at her for answers. 'Why does Eve always ask Damian for help? While he's around! Why not ask for my help, Eve?'
"No problem Damian, I also just caught up after Allan told me, hmm...Allan went to Aleena's school first...because Aleena...had a little problem earlier! But it's solved now, thank goodness! Hmm..thanks to Allan!" Eve said, trying to calm Allan down.
"Problem? Geez, I'm sorry Eve you had to deal with it alone! What problem?" Damian continued to ask without heeding Allan's hateful gaze.
"That..." Eve was about to answer back.
"Are we just talking nonsense here? Poor Aleena! She needs to sleep in a comfortable place! And my hands are getting legal if I have to wait for you guys to talk!" Allan spoke sternly to Damian.
"If you're tired, let me carry Aleena! And you can leave then!" Damian who felt insinuated became a little offended and returned Allan's displeased look by doing the same.
"I'm not the one who should be leaving here! It's you! Just so you know, I have the right to be here! As for you, why are you in a woman's place at night?" Allan snapped back at Damian with his face starting to turn red.
"You're entitled to what? Because you're working with Eve, does that make you entitled to her? You have no right to anything here, sir! What I do here is up to me! And I'm sure it's none of your business! After all, you and Eve are already separated, right? So, what's your purpose in approaching Eve again?" Damian was beginning to lose his temper.
Allan's jaw began to tighten with emotion, and stepped close enough to Damian to whisper but still be heard by Eve, "You don't know that I'm more entitled than you know! You don't know the truth!"
Damian's face started to turn white, 'What did Allan mean? Did Allan already know that Aleena was his daughter? He can't! Allan can't know! No way!'
Allan approached again, " Why are you blanching? You understand what I mean, right? So stop seeing Eve with the excuse of a friend! I know what's in that brain of yours! Unfortunately as long as I'm alive, I'll make sure that never happens! Not Eve or Aleena, I won't let them near you! Back off, before my patience runs out!"
Eve looked at the two with a puzzled look and asked, "What were you talking about in a whisper, just now?"
Allan straightened up, "Nothing! I was just responding because Damian said he was going home to take care of something, right Mr Damian?"
Damian looked angrily at Allan while Allan winked one eye as if mocking Damian.
"Really, Damian? Why didn't you say so, if you have other things to do! You better leave now before it's too late!" Eve looked unhappy.
"Well, you better leave now before it's...'too late'!" Allan emphasized the word too late to insinuate Damian.
Damian turned to Allan with dislike as his gaze was full of anger, and only then to Eve who was still smiling.
"Go away, Damian! I have Allan to keep me company, after all, we're fine now! Allan's right, you'll be late!" Eve said again.
Allan smiled triumphantly, Damian glared at him. Damian let out his breath.
"But, Eve, I want to take you upstairs at least after this guy leaves! Then I can leave you in peace!" said Damian not to be outdone.
Allan's face was now red, as he seemed to be being watched by Eve's landlady in the form of a man, Damian.
"No need, Damian! I can take care of myself, after all Allan also just put Aleena in his room and then left, didn't you, sir?" This time it was Eve who stared at Allan who was still staring unhappily at Damian.
"Hmm!" This was the only short answer Allan said.
Damian stared at Allan with dislike and disbelief, but he believed in Eve. Eve was not a cheap woman who would easily melt with a man. If not, Damian might have had Eve a long time ago, but he didn't. Eve still keeps the distance between them as 'friends'! And Damian tried to be patient and waited and hoped that Eve's feelings would gradually change after his patient waiting.
"Alright, I'll go then Eve!" Damian hugged Eve briefly from the side with his right hand, and kissed Eve on the cheek. Eve was surprised, but because Eve didn't want to embarrass Damian she just fell silent and stepped back slightly. Allan didn't like looking angry and hateful at Demian and Damian was now smiling back.
"Bye Eve, good night! Want me to pick you up in the morning?" Damian said to Eve. Eve frowned and was just about to answer, Allan already cut her off by speaking.
"No need! I'll pick Eve up in the morning! We have an important meeting tomorrow!" Allan snapped.
Eve looked at Allan, "Really?"
Allan shook his head in annoyance, "Yes, have you forgotten your schedule, check it! Tomorrow we have to discuss and present your design to the shareholders! Did you miss it?"
Eve stared in confusion, "Is the time tomorrow? Ah, maybe I forgot. I'll check! Thank goodness you reminded me!"
Allan smiled slightly, pulling the corners of his lips upwards, " Hmm! You're welcome! That's what I'm here for!"
Damian shrugged his shoulders, nonchalantly. "Well, Eve, just let me know if you need anything, Okay? I'll be ready!"
"Thank you, Damian." Eve only replied briefly.
"Bye Damian!" It wasn't Eve who spoke but Allan.
Damian turned around and left Eve feeling annoyed. Damian lied to Eve that he was busy at the Cafe today, the truth was that he was meeting a potential fiancée that his family wanted to marry. Damian was forced to attend the meeting on the grounds that they knew each other! That made Damian switch off his mobile phone earlier, he didn't realize Eve was calling him.
Damian regrets why he had to switch off his mobile phone earlier. Damian had originally switched off his mobile phone on purpose, because he wanted to have a private conversation with his fiancée-to-be and not be disturbed by calls from his family.
Unfortunately, his future fiancée did not agree with Damian's decision to break off their engagement. So their conversation was a little long. It was really bad luck for Damian today. Not only did he have no luck with his fiancée-to-be but he also lost the chance to get closer to Eve.
"What are you looking at? He's already gone! Did you mean to chase after him earlier or catch up with him? And leave your daughter behind, is that it?" Allan looked annoyed at Eve who was still staring at Damian's disappearing back.
Eve let out an irritated breath and walked away from Allan towards the lift.
"Hey; Eve! Why are you leaving? Answer my question first! Is it true that you would have gone after him if I wasn't here?"
"Eve! Eve! Wait for me!"
