Chapter 539

Chapter 539

Frederick gently kissed her cheeks with no trace of lust. It was just a kiss born from deep emotion.

Charlotte buried her head in his chest, greedily taking in his scent and warmth.

After a while, she asked, "Where's Quin?"

"Quin is with Aunt Cecilia, don't worry. You know, Quin started talking, and the first person he called out for was you."

Frederick said this with a tender gaze fixed on her.

A flash of surprise passed through Charlotte's eyes.

She immediately got up to go find Quin, but Frederick pressed her back onto the bed. "Don't go just yet. Take care of your own health first."

"I just got a scare, I'm really fine."

Charlotte didn't dare to think about the truth of the lab incident, burying Jasper's words deep in her memory. She knew she'd have to face it eventually, but for now, she needed to calm down.

Back at the Percy Estate, many people came to see her. Luke showed up, but Will was still nowhere to be seen.

Frederick sensed something was off and started looking into it. Soon after, news came that Byron had escaped from prison, rescued by someone. Even the police captain who arrested him had an accident and was now in the hospital.

After hearing Louis's report, Frederick’s expression darkened for a moment, but he decided not to tell Charlotte about it for now.
When he returned to the room, he found Charlotte talking to Taylor.
He walked over, leaned close to Charlotte’s ear, and whispered, "I need to handle some company business. I’ll be back soon."
Charlotte nodded.

After Frederick left, Charlotte's phone buzzed lightly. She glanced down and saw a message from Aurelia. Without even reading it, she deleted it.

She didn’t need to look to know it was meant to stir trouble between her and Frederick.
Seeing Charlotte’s troubled expression, Taylor instinctively asked, "Charlotte, are you worried about something?"
Charlotte found it hard to face Taylor. She didn't even know how to bring it up, but seeing the concern in Taylor's eyes, her heart grew more conflicted.

Suddenly, she took hold of Taylor’s hand. "Taylor, no matter what happens between me and Jasper, you'll always be my best friend."

Taylor tilted her head, a bit confused. "Did Jasper do something to hurt you?"

Her gut told Taylor that Charlotte must have found out something.

Charlotte's eyes flickered slightly.

She bit her lip lightly, not daring to say more.

"Charlotte, if something's wrong, you have to tell me. Is he hiding something from me, and now you are too?" Taylor got a bit upset and huffed loudly. "Do you both think I'm just a kid?"

Charlotte held her hand, her expression pained, before finally spilling everything.

Keeping this from her best friend had been tearing her apart.

After hearing it all, Taylor looked like she'd been struck by lightning.

She opened her mouth several times, wanting to ask if there was some misunderstanding.

But she knew Charlotte well. She wouldn't joke about something like this. It wasn't funny. And considering Jasper's behavior before, Taylor was sure it was true.

She took a deep breath and suddenly stood up. "I'm going to find Jasper. I'll make him explain this to you!"

Taylor's vision blurred with darkness. She couldn't even face Charlotte.

She knew how much Charlotte had suffered after the lab explosion.

Charlotte had blamed herself for everything, even wondering why she hadn't been the one to die.

Charlotte was struggling with this truth more than she was.

Taylor's eyes turned red.

Charlotte hugged her. "He's working with Byron. After Byron was taken by the police, I don't know where he is. He's probably avoiding me."

Taylor slowly pushed Charlotte away. "Charlotte, I'll find him and make him answer for this."

With that, she didn't even look at Charlotte's face and ran off.

In the evening, Frederick finally returned. Quin was already asleep with Cecilia, and Charlotte was waiting for him in the room.

She had planned to discuss Jasper, but Frederick was drunk. As soon as he came in, he hugged her, kissing and nibbling at her.

Frederick lifted her chin, his fingertips unconsciously brushing over her soft, delicate skin. "Charlotte, I've missed you. I want you."

Charlotte looked a bit shy but nodded.

In the face of desire, everything else was instantly forgotten.

His hand slid down her smooth back, lower and lower, squeezing her butt before tentatively slipping into her. At the same time, he kept kissing her.

But this kiss was full of innocence and joy, just pressing against her lips, endlessly lingering and close, as if even taking it further required caution.

Charlotte first teased with the tip of her tongue, licking here and there, then pushed him down, straddling him and reaching to peel off Frederick's clothes.

He had a perfect body, with sharp collarbones.

Charlotte slowly kissed her way from his neck to his collarbone, then to his chest. His small nipples looked so delicate and lovable.

He carried a faint fragrance, the scent of the cologne he always used, mixed with a subtle hint of tobacco—unique to him.

Seeing her take the lead, Frederick felt a rush of emotion. He sat up, pulled her into his arms, and lowered his head to take her already hardened nipple into his mouth. Charlotte shivered, a soft, muffled moan escaping her throat.

His warm, wet mouth and nimble tongue teased the sensitive bud endlessly, while his other hand played with the other side, pinching and rubbing. Holding Charlotte close, his fingers traced down her back, tightening his grip.

Charlotte felt something hard pressing against her stomach, making her uncomfortable. She moved lower, gripping his hot, throbbing length in her hand.

Seeing her dazed, almost ready to lean down, Frederick pulled her up, grabbed her chin, and kissed her hard. He roughly pulled her back onto him, claiming her with an intense, almost suffocating deep kiss. Charlotte forgot what she'd been about to do, tilting her face up, lost in the haze of his kisses.

After the kiss, Charlotte still wanted more. Though her natural shyness had returned, she couldn't say it out loud, only clinging to him and softly calling, "Frederick, Frederick."

Her voice was gentle and lingering, pleasing Frederick. He stroked her back, listening to her call his name.

After a long moment with no further moves, Charlotte grew a bit frustrated. "Frederick, are you not up for it anymore?"

Frederick felt helpless.

He sighed lightly, his drunken haze slowly clearing as reason returned. "I'm just thinking if your body can handle it."

"I can."

Charlotte kissed his lips. "I can handle it."

There was an indescribable innocence in her words, and even the way she looked up at him carried a captivating, tender charm that took Frederick's breath away.

He couldn't think anymore. He pushed her down, squeezed her butt, spread her long legs, and, with Charlotte's cooperation, slid inside.
