Chapter 9
Aurora saw Herbert and immediately started tearing up. She was in so much pain she could barely stand.
Herbert had always thought highly of her. He'd even praised her in front of a bunch of doctors, making her a role model for everyone.
Just as she was about to say something, she heard the dean's surprised voice. "Abella, what are you doing here in sterile clothes? You can't be the high school student who operated on Mr. Ryan Bourbon, can you? I heard about it on my way here. So, is Mr. Ryan Bourbon okay?"
Everyone was stunned by his words.
Not only did Herbert know Abella, but he also seemed to really respect her medical skills?
Seeing no one answering him, Herbert got even more confused, "What's going on here? Abella, you tell me."
"Herbert," Abella greeted him, "It's nothing, I just don't want to see her in this industry anymore."
The dean glanced at Aurora, then at Abella, "What did Aurora do to make you so mad?"
Abella's aura was sharp and strong, "It's the first time I've heard of a heart failure patient developing endocarditis and perivalvular leakage, and still being given sedatives and Comfortable Heart and Smooth Vessel Capsules."
"Giving those is like a temporary fix. Within half an hour, Mr. Ryan Bourbon would be dead!" Herbert immediately turned to look at Aurora.
Abella said coolly, "It just shows that your hospital's hiring standards are too lax."
"Aurora, why didn't you operate on Mr. Ryan Bourbon?" Herbert asked right away.
"Mr. Clark, Mr. Ryan Bourbon's condition was extremely critical at the time, and we were powerless," Aurora explained.
"So you planned to give sedatives and Comfortable Heart and Smooth Vessel Capsules to Mr. Ryan Bourbon? You knew that even the best doctor couldn't save him after that! You're a doctor, yet when Mr. Ryan Bourbon still had a chance to be saved, you sentenced him to death first! How could you do that?" Before Aurora could speak, Herbert said in utter disappointment, "Leave. NYU Medical Center will not keep you, and you are not allowed to enter this industry in the future."
Someone like Aurora, who didn't care about the patient's life and only cared about her own career, didn't deserve to be a doctor!
Herbert was the president of the National Medical Association. With just one word from him, Aurora would never be able to work in this industry again.
"Mr. Clark, please give me another chance, Mr. Clark." Although Aurora knew that Herbert was driving her away to avoid more severe consequences if Phillipe blamed them, she really didn't want to leave this place.
The salary was high, everyone treated her well, and her future was bright.
It was all Abella's fault!
"Take her away!" Herbert said, then turned to apologize to Phillipe, "I'm really sorry, such a thing happened under my watch, I'm deeply ashamed. Fortunately, Abella acted in time, preventing a major mistake!"
"What's your name?" Phillipe's gaze fell on Abella, his voice clear and cold.
It was evident that he was usually a man of few words, even his expression was as indifferent as his words.
Abella responded confidently, "Abella Medici."
"Give me your phone number." Phillipe handed his phone to her, asking her to input her number.
Abella, holding the blank check, knew exactly what it meant. If Ryan had any issues later, she'd be on the hook, and leaving her contact info was just to make sure they could reach her.
She took Phillipe's phone, her slender fingers tapping the screen as she input a string of numbers, then looked up, her beautiful face calm as she handed the phone back.
"Mr. Ryan Bourbon has had multiple open-heart surgeries, and in the early postoperative period, his sternum will be unstable, making healing tough. His left lower limb will also swell and hurt due to multiple cannulations during extracorporeal circulation. These are all normal." She said this to preempt any claims that her skills were lacking.
Phillipe's gaze traced Abella's features, his voice deep, "How can the pain be alleviated?"
Abella glanced at the seven or eight heart specialists behind him, "These minor issues, they can handle. Mr. Clark, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."
"Alright."
In the changing room, Abella changed out of her sterile clothes, put on a baseball cap, and slung her backpack over her shoulder, ready to leave.
"Abella!" In the hospital corridor, Randy caught up with her, "Is your right hand okay? I've been wanting to ask, what happened to your right hand? Why did you use your left hand for the surgery today?"
If there were no issues, a right-handed person wouldn't use their left hand to perform surgery.
"It's fine." Abella moved her aching wrist indifferently, "I just fought too much last night."
Randy's expression became complicated, "Can you fight too?"
What kind of amazing person was this?
She could easily get the expensive miracle drugs, perform surgeries, and even fight.
"So, Abella, are you left-handed or right-handed? Do you usually hold the scalpel with your left hand or right hand?" He was really curious.
"Both hands are fine." Abella replied.
"Are you really human??"
At this moment, an old man hurried over, shouting, "Abella, what a surprise to see you here!"
Abella's eyes were clear and bright. Seeing the person, she was a bit surprised, "Daniel?"
"Abella, were you also invited by Phillipe to operate on Ryan? Do I have the honor of assisting you?" Daniel asked.
"I've finished." Abella said.
There was a traffic jam on the way, causing him to run all the way here, almost out of breath, only to find out that Abella had already completed the surgery!
"You did it alone?" Daniel asked, still catching his breath.
"And him." Abella raised her hand.
Daniel looked in the direction of her hand and was stunned to see the person standing next to her, "Randy, why are you here?"
"Grandpa." Randy replied helplessly, "This is where I work."
Sure enough, Daniel had forgotten again.
However, Daniel, usually eccentric and arrogant, was speaking gently to Abella, even with a hint of flattery!
Randy was truly shocked!
How could Abella earn such admiration from Daniel? Besides her excellent medical skills, what other identity did she have?
"You brat, being able to assist Abella is the luckiest thing in your life!" Daniel said.
Being her assistant was the luckiest thing?
Was there something wrong with Daniel's brain?
