Chapter 11

They'd been raising Lola for eighteen years. Even if it was a dog, you'd get attached after that long, right? And Lola was way more awesome than any dog!

Abella got what they were saying, but she just shrugged, "I don't really care."

Kimberly let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Abella was just too nice!

"Want me to show you around upstairs?" As they passed the music room on the second floor, Kimberly asked, "So, Abella, got any hobbies?"

"Yeah," Abella said, almost offhandedly, "Making money."

Beckett couldn't help but chuckle, "Well, looks like you got that from me. I was all about making money when I was your age! Who knew we had the same hobby?"

"Yeah, right!" Kimberly shot back, not letting him off the hook, "You were all about chasing girls back then!"

Beckett's face froze for a second, but he quickly recovered, "Well, you were the only girl who ever caught my eye. Chasing you was way more important than making money."

Abella glanced out the window, trying to ignore their banter. She noticed the house had a helipad with three helicopters parked on it. One of them was a super rare, limited edition model worth $1.4 billion, the kind only world leaders usually have.

"Abella, this is your room. Do you like it?" Kimberly asked, opening the door with a hopeful look.

A wave of pink hit Abella. The curtains, bed, wardrobe, desk—everything was pink.

Abella didn't say a word.

"Kimberly thought all girls love pink, so she made you a princess room!" Beckett said, taking a deep breath as if he could smell the sweetness in the air, "Can you feel the love?"

Abella still didn't say anything.

"It's cool if you don't like it. Kimberly did up a few other rooms for you too!" Beckett said, leading her to the next rooms, which had Mediterranean, aristocratic, and modern minimalist styles.

Since they had no clue what Abella liked and had plenty of rooms to spare, Kimberly just went with a different style for each one.

"This one," Abella pointed to the simplest room.

"Great, get some rest. We've got a surprise for you later!" Kimberly said, holding Abella's hand, "When the servants come to get you, come downstairs, okay?"

The idea of a surprise made Abella a bit anxious.

She nodded, understanding Kimberly's excitement.

After quickly unpacking, Abella pulled out her phone and sent a message: [Do you still have Weed of Heart?]

The reply came almost instantly, followed by a call. A soft voice on the other end said, "Abella, are you making heart-saving pills again? Did you find a new market because they're selling high on the black market?"

Abella smiled at the familiar voice, "That's part of it."

"And the other part is Vilma's condition, right?" Clare Fischer, her friend and business partner, knew her too well. "Making one heart-saving pill can sell for ten million dollars, and making another could save Vilma. It's a win-win, but I only have one left."

Weed of Heart was a miracle plant for heart conditions, and it was insanely expensive.

The price was one thing, but it was super rare, only showing up at auctions now and then.

Clare's last one was bought at a crazy high price from someone else.

Most people bought Weed of Heart to study it, not knowing its true value or how to turn it into something useful.

But Abella was different.

She knew how to mix it with other herbs to make heart-saving pills.

This tiny pill was a lifesaver for heart disease patients who had been given no hope by their doctors!

As soon as it hit the market, everyone wanted it.

In Clare's mind, Weed of Heart was only truly valuable in Abella's hands, where it wouldn't be wasted.

"Do you need it right away? Should I send it over now?" Clare asked.

"No rush, I'll come by in a few days. I’m living closer to you now," Abella explained briefly about reconnecting with her biological family.

"You're not Jeff's real daughter? How could something so crazy happen to you?" Clare was stunned by how much had changed in just a few days, "If the Wilson family treated you so badly, why do you still want to save Vilma?"

Abella's voice was calm, "She was good to me."

Vilma had raised Abella while Jeff and Skylar were busy with their careers. Now that Vilma was critically ill, Abella couldn't just abandon the woman who had been like a mother to her.

"Vilma's alive because of you! Jeff thinks just paying for a VIP hospital room and a caregiver is enough for her to live this long! If it weren't for you saving her from death multiple times, he wouldn't have a mother now!"

Abella's eyes darkened, but she stayed silent.

Clare went on, "Without you, could their small workshop have grown so much? Could they have moved from a small town to a big city? Jeff being the richest man in the outskirts of Empire Vista City is all thanks to your hard work! Otherwise, with his skills, he would've gone bankrupt! How could he be the richest man?"

"He's terrible at business and always caused you trouble, making you clean up his messes! With your talent, you should be the richest, not him! But you sacrificed everything for them." Clare was fuming.

"It doesn't matter," Abella said lazily, sounding indifferent, "Making money is just a walk in the park for me."

"I just feel bad for you! They left you with Vilma and rarely came home! Then they found Isla and pushed you aside. What they did was heartless!" Clare said.

"Alright, let's drop it. Keep an eye on Weed of Heart for me, one isn't enough." Abella changed the subject, "Watch the auctions and let me know if anything comes up."

"Got it," Clare nodded.

They chatted a bit more before hanging up.

Just then, Abella's phone buzzed. She checked it and saw a message from one of her employees.

[Boss! We got a huge order! Some super-rich person ordered a hundred pieces of clothing, a hundred bags, and a hundred pairs of shoes for his daughter, all to be delivered today. I sent all the limited editions from the warehouse! We're out of stock! When can you design more? Urgent!]

Abella's fingers flew over the screen as she replied: [In a few days.]

The employee replied: [OK, I'll wait. I'm almost at the rich person's house. I'll see what his daughter looks like, hope she's not too ugly to ruin your clothes.]

Abella was a bit surprised: [You're delivering it personally?]

[Such a big order, of course, we need to provide top-notch service! Right?]

Putting down her phone, Abella wondered, 'Who buys so many clothes, shoes, and bags at once? Are they opening a store?'

Just then, a luxury RV pulled up at the villa's entrance.
