Chapter 82: Starks Need for Reinvention

Chapter 82: Starks Need for Reinvention

“CLARA!” Stark was fuming mad as he walked down the hall to the main sitting room of the packhouse. “CLARA!” He yelled again impatiently.

“I’m here Alpha! I’m here. So sorry for the delay. What can I do for you? Are you hungry? You look like you need to eat. Do you need more Brandy in your office?”

“I need my assistant.”

“Oh. Well. You don’t have one, Alpha.”

He looked at her and could see that she wasn’t lying.

She looked at him bewildered, wondering what he was looking for as he stared at her.

“What did she do to you?”

“Excuse me, Alpha? Who?”

“I need you to find someone for me. Though I have an idea of where she may be. Look up a woman named Georgia…” he realized he didn’t know her last name. Had he adopted her, she would have had his last name. But he took her as his charge instead.

“Georgia who, Alpha?”

“On second thought. Do you remember that agency that finds assistants? The one with the laughing skull or something like that.”

Clara thought for a moment. “The Forever Brews Agency? I think it was a cauldron.”

“That’s the one. Can you call them and tell them I need an assistant who specializes in science and potions?”

“Why don’t you just go through the district? They’ve always been good at finding assistants when an Alpha needs one. And didn’t you get Forever Brews banned because they were helping the rogues find permanent housing?”

“Oh right.” Stark started mumbling. “The district is too much red tape and takes too long. I need to get an assistant quickly.” He forgot to mention that he sent his no longer caged rogue wolves on a mission that would surely disbar him from the district… and from the royal family as well.

“Why do you need one now? You’ve gotten along without one so far.”

“Who was my last assistant?”

“That was a long time ago, Alpha. Well… oh… I don’t remember.”

If only he had a memory elixir handy. He wondered what he may have left.

“It’s fine, Clara. I’ll go ahead put in a request with the district.”

She smiled and nodded. “Very good, Alpha. Are you hungry? I can get you a snack if you need one. Water? Coffee?”

“I’m fine Clara. I don’t need anything.”

“Alpha, you’ve been working so hard. You are such a dedicated man. Let me get you some coffee. Ooh! And we still have some of your favorite coffee cake left. Will you be in your office? I’ll bring it to you. You just go back to what you were working on, and I’ll bring it to you. Don’t you even worry about it, Alpha.”

“Thank you, Clara.” He said. Though he doubt she heard him. She was still talking as she walked down the hallway towards the kitchen.

He had to have known Georgia’s last name…

Then he looked at the time and realized the rogues should be returning in a few hours. He smiled as he pictured Georgia frantically trying to figure out how the rogues attacked them. He knew she would turn on him… it was bound to happen. A part of him had hoped though, that he wasn’t right about her. She had such… potential.

“I’ll get her back.” He stated confidently. “Even if that idiot Alexander is her mate.” He smiled as he sat at his desk and went through the stack of paperwork that required his attention.

Of course he knew. He figured it out the first time Georgia was on the phone with him. She was giddy for hours after they spoke. He knew he would have to keep them separated. So, he did. Alexander trusted Stark at one point. And of course, Stark took advantage of that. He even took him out to dinner, got him drunk and had to bring him back to his pack so he wouldn’t drive home in his state. Easiest set up he had ever done. It was the only time he put in a chip on someone in human form. And Georgia… they were testing sleep elixirs at the time, and she willingly was the guinea pig to see how long it lasted.

He chuckled at her innocence, her inclination to believe him. She was so eager to please him and be accepted by him. Then he scowled at the unusual feeling in the pit of his stomach. He hated that he missed her.

A few hours later, after his coffee and coffee cake, he received a notification that the chipped wolves had begun to arrive. He went down to the basement to get them in their cages. After he had counted them…

“Hmm… missing three. They must be dead.” He made a note and looked around. “Where are the twins?” He asked angrily.

The rogues whimpered in their cages.

Stark grabbed a taser stick and shocked one of the rogues causing him to turn into his human form inside of his cage. His whimpers turned into human cries and the poor naked rogue shivered in fear and coldness.

“You! Where are the twins?”

“W-w-we couldn’t get to them, Alpha.”

“What do you mean you couldn’t get to them? They were in wolf form and immobilized. They were both easy targets.”

“There were lycans… in the daytime! A-a-and a purple witch.”

“That’s nonsense.” He shocked him again and the rogue turned back into his wolf form.

He shocked another one and the same happened. This time it was a female.

“You. What happened?”

“What Elias says is true, Alpha.” She stated calmly. She had been through this before and was too tired to care, or feel anymore. “Three lycans and a purple witch. The witch took Alexander and killed Garrett.”

“Hmm. Three lycans and a purple witch. And Alexandria?”

“She was protected by Alexanders wolf and another wolf.”

“Garrett had the wolfsbane in his claws.” Stark thought out loud. That name, he remembered for some odd reason.

He shocked her and she turned back into her wolf form.

He walked out of the lab angry and trying to figure out what he was going to do next. He needed their blood to stay strong, and he was running out of the elixir that Georgia had made. After figuring out that she was alive, he found some hidden under a loose floorboard in her room under her bed.

He knew they were all going to stay together. He knew that Georgia would be mourning her precious Alexander. His chip showed he was still in his catatonic state. It would be easy to get to her. He just had to find their location. He headed back to the office in his quarters.
