Chapter 78: A Fun Romp Turned Bad


Off they all ran into the forest making people scream randomly as they whooshed by them.

Leaving the 4 ladies sitting around the table.

“I don’t think we were done talking.” Georgia said.

“I don’t think we were either.” Frankie agreed.

“They all just got so excited to go for a run.” Sandra finally felt the need to speak.

“Like puppies.” Velvette laughed heartily.

They all laughed and moved in closer to chat with each other. Sandra felt more at ease and preferred talking with a smaller group, so this was a good chance for her to speak.

Meanwhile, the rest of the party was running as if they had just been set free. Max’s wolf, Bear, kept stopping and sniffing everything he could. It felt as if it had been ages since he was in this form. His deep brown fur moved with the gentle breeze as it hit him. He loved the feeling as he sprinted from flower to tree to bush with his tail wagging happily. Nova, however, was a bit awkward in her movements as she got started. She had never run before. She watched her parents as they gracefully cut through the air in their forms. She wondered if she would ever look as beautiful as they did. It took a while for her to get her bearings, but once she did, she was off. Rosemary giggled in her mind as Nova picked up speed and dashed through the trees of the forest. The exhilaration was a huge rush for them both.

Alexander and Lexy’s wolves were more of a hybrid. They both were light brown, white and gold wolves with lycan features. Alexanders wolf was significantly bigger than Lexy’s and he had the ability to walk on his hind legs but rarely did but he didn’t see a need for it until that moment, and wondered if being part lycan was why he was on this high council. Lexy’s hind legs were strong, but she couldn’t stand as long as Alexander. And she had a heightened sense of hearing and smell in this form and could heal much faster than the average wolf. She was self-conscious about her ears because the other kids would make fun of them whenever she was in her wolf form. But like her brother, she suddenly understood that her acute senses were a gift. Alexanders wolfs name was, Adelphos, which means brother. And Lexy’s wolfs name was, Althea, which is a healer.

Veyric and Selvane sat close to each other beside a stream. He wrapped his arms around her as she nuzzled into his chest enjoying the moment. She had forgotten how heightened everything was to her. It had been far too long. Nova came up and sat next to Selvane and laid her head on her lap.

‘What do we do now?’ Rosemary asked her parents through the mindlink.

‘Appoint your high council and start training and making a plan.’ Bruce answered.

‘A few plans.’ Cordelia added. ‘You’ll need them.’

Nova nodded and stayed comfortably on her mother’s lap.

Lux soon joined them and laid down next to Nova.

‘There is something we need to do before you can officially appoint your high council.’ Bruce stated.

‘What’s that?’ Rosemary asked.

‘Make you and Pierce king and queen.’

‘Father!’

‘It’s time. You two are ready.’

‘What will happen to my pack?’ Pierce asked, surprised he could hear them.

‘You can make your pack your palace. Rule from there and appoint those you trust to have royal duties. Then we won’t have to move.’ Bruce chuckled.

‘Once you two are king and queen, it will be your rules.’ Cordelia added. ‘And your protocol.’ She smiled at Lux.

Lux bowed his head in understanding.

‘We’ll need to act fast. You have to train with your high council and be ready for Stark and his rogue wolves. My suggestion is that you all stay together for a while and learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses. This will help you all work together.’ Bruce urged.

Nova nodded.

‘You’ll also need to control your levels of transforming.’

Nova and Lux look at Cordelia in confusion.

‘All of you who can change, have lycan blood in you which means you have levels of transformation.’ She nudged away from Nova and stood up. She started to pace back and forth in the small clearing and steadily changed from a lycan into a large black wolf with gray and white patches. ‘I’m still Selvane, just a different form.’

‘I can do that too?’ Rosemary asked.

‘You all can to different degrees. Your father and I will teach you and help you.’

Alexanders wolf, Adelphos came over and whined a bit then ran off towards the hotel.

‘Why couldn’t we hear him?’ Nova asked.

‘Because he’s not appointed yet.’

‘Ah, and Max heard us, because he is already in my pack. Right?’

‘Exactly.’ Bruce and Cordelia answered together.

They all got up and stretched and started sprinting back to the hotel. As they got about halfway back, Lux stopped and smelled the air.

‘Rose! Where are you?’ Panic filled his voice as she heard him through their mind link.

‘I’m behind you.’ She said as she stopped next to him.

‘Stay with me. I smell rogues. Do you smell that?’

‘I smell…’ she sniffed the air then looked around for her parents. ‘Blood.’

‘Rogues!’ Bruce yelled as he ran by them. He got up a ways and started to howl menacingly.

‘We need to find the others!’ Cordelia yelled.

‘Is this because we were out for too long? Did they smell us?’ Rosemary asked worried.

‘Not the time. We need to get everyone together and get back to the safety of the hotel.’ Her mother answered.

‘Lexy and Alexander can’t hear us.’ Pierce reminded them. ‘Max!’ He yelled through the mind link.

Silence.

‘Maxim!’

They heard a wolf cry and a snap and turned to see Veyric holding a dead rogue wolf. He threw it over his shoulder and sniffed the air. Then walked towards them.

‘I thought he was in front of us.’ Said Lux.

‘So did I.’ Answered Pierce.

Veyric spoke to them in their mind link in his deep thick old European accented voice. ‘The one you call Maxim is badly injured as well as a female…Lexy… I took them back to the hotel. Georgia and Frankie are working on them. Lux. It is time for you to show your strength in your howl. You are the king of the beasts now. I am passing this on to you. This is stronger and deeper than your battle cry. You will have the power to end war with your voice.’ He smacked Lux on his side and ran towards the hotel.
