Chapter 77: A New High Council for A New Era

Alexander could see that this was hard for her to share. He also noticed that she was determined to help in any way she could. He smiled at her and rubbed her back supportively. He really was patient.

“Take your time, baby.” He reassured her.

“With testing the blood of each subject, we found that lycan blood made Stark stronger. And the higher percentage of lycan blood, the better the outcome.”

“What does that have to do with our pack?” Alexander asked her.

“Your pack has the highest concentration of wolves with lycan blood. Including you and Lexy. The testing went from rogue wolves to your pack.”

“That explains the blood tests that Stark ordered a year ago… or in a year.” Max stated.

“This hasn’t happened yet.” Lexy understood.

“No.” Georgia shook her head. “Starks plan was to have the rogue wolves grab a member and draw blood, but they needed to be in human form to do it, and we learned that it’s easier to control someone in wolf form over their human form.”

“How did you not see what he was doing?” Lexy asked Georgia.

“I was in denial I guess. I knew it was wrong. I just kept telling myself that this was what Stark wanted so he would be a stronger Alpha. I brushed off the whole domination thing, and I just couldn’t believe that he was going to hurt anyone… until a couple of the rogue wolves died and he didn’t care. I told him that maybe we should stop or slow it down or try to do things differently, but he told me that I wasn’t loyal to him, and I wasn’t…”

“Wasn’t what?” Alexander asked.

“Nothing, just that I wasn’t on his side.” She looked down at his hand still holding hers. She expected him to let go, but he didn’t.

Alexander knew she lied. He also knew that whatever it was, made her embarrassed. So he didn’t push it.

“What else was he planning?” Rosemary asked.

“Well, the main goal was you, of course. He wanted you. At any cost.” Georgia answered.

“And you were okay with this?” Lexy pushed. Alexander nudged her hard.

“I’m an assistant. I do what is asked of me… at least that’s how I thought before.” Her voice trailed off. “I know Starks plans. And I know Stark. Without me he won’t be able to do much so his target will be me and then Alexanders pack and then Rosemary and Pierce.”

“But he thinks you’re dead.”

“He’ll realize that I’m not. Sooner than I’d like too. The toads didn’t have much time and could only work so fast.”

“The toads?” Alexander asked.

“A syndicate of toads that help any assistant who calls on them anywhere around the world. You just need to know where to find them. It’s not a group that’s advertised. They like to stay in the shadows.” Velvette answered.

“Ahhh.” Alexander mouthed then looked at Georgia. “We’ll keep you safe from him. I promise.”

“Knowing Georgia, she’ll keep you safe instead.” Velvette chuckled.

“As I recall, we were working on the portal. He might have a copy of the blueprints. I’m not sure. But the toads are moving all of my things to Frankies house as we speak. It’ll take them a few days as they travel slowly. But everything we need will be there. Well, everything Stark will need will be there. He’ll start snooping around soon enough.”

“So, what’s the huge area that Alpha Bruce and Luna Cordelia made for?” Max asked.

“My king, my queen.” Velvette bowed.

Bruce and Cordelia stood up and walked gracefully hand in hand and barefoot to the clearing they had made. Cordelias eyes turned a glowing blood red and Bruces, a brightly shining gold, much like Rosemary’s when she became Nova. They then slowly transformed into their Lycans. It had been a while since they last transformed. Their noses elongated and their arms became hairy and distorted as their feet grew in length and became wolflike. Both were intimidating and a dark grey with shimmering silver patterns all over their bodies. Bruces lycan was wider and taller at 9 feet while Cordelia stood at 8 feet. Everyone gasped in amazement and awe.

“Ladies and gentlemen. May I introduce to you the King and Queen of the lycans; King Veyric,” Bruce’s lycan bowed. “And Queen Selvane.” Cordelia’s lycan bowed.

Rosemary stood up in shock. She had never seen her parents as lycans. She started to panic but Nova’s voice calmed her and reminded her that this was her heritage. She noticed that both of them were looking at her.

“Mother? Father?” she slowly walked over to them.

“Rosemary. It’s your turn, child.”

“But I…”

“Nova needs to be introduced as well. This is your high council.”

Rosemary turned and looked at everyone. “Pierce.” She whispered.

Instantly, he was by her side. “We’ll change together.”

“But it hurts so much.” Rosemary whimpered.

“It won’t hurt as bad the second time, Rose. I promise. And I’ll be right here next to you.”

Rosemary closed her eyes tight and tensed up as she nodded to Pierce.

‘Open your eyes and relax or it will hurt more. He’s right, the second time won’t hurt as bad.’ Nova said to Rosemary.

She grabbed his hand, and they both transformed; much quicker than her parents had. Nova stood tall and bowed to the king and queen then to her appointed court. Lux, however, was less gracious and yelped as he noticed silver flecks on his paws and legs.

“You’re lycan is coming out, Lux.” Velvette said as she came over and put her hand on his head.

“Rosemary.” He said slowly in his deep gruff voice. Even he was surprised as Lux had never spoken before.

“Yes. Rosemary. She is bringing your lycan out. Which will make you what you are intended to be.”

“Strong.” He spoke again and sat in understanding.

‘We’re making ourselves known?’ Rosemary asked her parents in their mind link.

‘It’s time we do. The royal line has been quiet for far too long and we need to make our strength known once again to our world.’ Bruce responded.

‘Especially for the future Starks of the world.’ Cordelia added.

“I say we change and go for a run!” Max shouted as he unbuttoned his pants.

“In the middle of the day?” Lexy asked unpleased.

“Why not? Just like they said, it’s time to make our strength known.”

‘You could hear us?’ Rosemary asked in the mind link to Max.

“Clear as day.” He answered out loud and pushed his pants down.

“I’m in.” Alexander piped up. “It’s been a while since I’ve gone for a run.” He stood up and took his pants off too. He kissed Georgia’s forehead then unbuttoned his shirt.

“Me too, I guess.” Lexy sighed even though she was secretly excited to go on a run in the middle of the day.

All except Georgia, Frankie, Sandra and Velvette had changed into their lycan or werewolf forms.

“Your majesties. What do you think of the new council?”

They both nodded and Veyric let out an ear piercing and guttural howl.
