Chapter 52 Let me go
Chapter 52 Let me go
Omniscient Narrative
Austin's eyes scanned the crowded streets, desperation on his face. Joey, stood by his side, a look of concern on his face also.
They had been searching for Kai for days now, but every lead had ended in a dead-end.
"Maybe we should try posting flyers," Joey suggested, breaking the silence between them.
Austin nodded, but his heart wasn't in it. They had tried everything from social media to even almost asking the news for help, but there was no sign of his father.
The police seemed to have given up, deeming him a missing person's case with low priority.
As they walked, Austin's phone rang. He answered, listening intently before his face fell.
"What is it?" Joey asked, his voice laced with concern.
"One of the neighbors said they saw someone coming in and out of our house the day dad disappeared" Austin replied, his voice barely above a whisper. "But the police didn't get more information since the old man said he couldn't remember much or if he even really saw someone"
"And my dad isn't picking his calls"
Joey placed a reassuring hand on Austin's shoulder. "We'll find him, Tiny. We just need to keep looking and when last did you speak with him."
"I'm so happy I have you here" he sighed and gave his boyfriend a hug. "We spoke yesterday, but still, I need to hear some news" he rubbed his head on Joey's chest while Joey rubbed his back.
They continued their search, the reality of the situation began to sink in. If the police couldn't find his dad, how could two ordinary people? The thought sent a shiver down Austin's spine.
.
Aries sat in his dark, dingy apartment, his eyes fixed on a photo of Kai.
He had a plan, he would join Austin and Joey in their search, feigning concern and innocence.
The thought alone sent a wicked grin spreading across his face.
Aries put on a mask of concern, ready to blend in with the crowd. He made his way to the designated meeting point, his eyes scanning the area for Austin and Joey.
When he spotted them, he approached, his expression dark. "Guys, I've been looking everywhere for you. What's the latest?"
Austin eyed him warily, but Aries' fake expression seemed to put him at ease. "Not much. I got a call about a neighbor who said he spotted someone going inside and out of the house."
Aries stilled for a second but nodded sympathetically. "I know how you feel. I've been searching high and low for Mr Gr-sorry Kai. I'm sure we'll find him eventually."
Joey raised an eyebrow, sensing something off about his cousin, but didn't say anything.
...
Meanwhile;
Kai huddled in the corner of the glass box, his eyes brimming with tears. He had given up hope, his cries for help going unanswered.
Days after days and yet no help, and he was starting to lose his grip on reality.
"Why won't anyone find me?" Kai whispered to himself, his voice cracking with despair.
He slumped against the glass, his body shaking with sobs.
The darkness seemed to close in on him, suffocating him.
He was trapped, with no escape in sight.
As the tears fell, Kai's mind wandered to his family. He knew Austin- his determined son-, was out there searching for him right now.
He hoped Austin would never give up, that he would keep looking until he found him.
And Vinnie, he wasn't sure about his husband, but he knew the older man had to be searching for him, right?. Whenever he would bring up the white man, Aries would shake his head and let out a laugh, the following words "that's not gonna happen" would come after.
Kai was scared now.
As tears continued to fall, Kai's eyes began to close, his body exhausted from the weight of his desperation. He knew he couldn't last much longer.
...
Aries stood before the glass prison, his eyes locked on Kai's frail form. The days of searching had been a ruse, a clever distraction from the truth.
His obsession with Kai had reached a fever pitch, and he couldn't resist the temptation to visit his captive once more.
As he approached the glass, a twisted smile spread across his face. "Hello, Kai. I see you're still trying to hold on to hope. How... quaint."
Aries' voice dripped with sadistic relish as he gazed at Kai's tears-lined face. "I've been watching you, Kai. I had been watching you for months, ever since you opened the door for me and welcomed me to your house. And let me tell you, you're a fascinating specimen. So fragile, so delicate. A true gem, hidden away in this world of chaos and despair."
Kai's eyes fluttered open, meeting Aries' gaze warily. "Leave me alone, Aries. Please, just leave me alone."
Aries chuckled, his laughter echoing through the empty space. "Oh, Kai, Kai, Kai. You have no idea what I have planned for you. You have no idea what I'll do to you when I take you away from this...this prison, and give you the life you deserve"
As he spoke, Aries' eyes seemed to glint with an otherworldly light, a madness burning within him. "You'll see, Kai. You'll see the beauty of my world. The beauty of my obsession with you. You'll see the world through my eyes, and you'll love it, you'll love me, for it."
Aries' voice dropped to a whisper, his words dripping with a grotesque tenderness. "You'll be mine, Kai. Mine, and mine alone. I'll take you away from this dingy little box, from this cruel world. And I'll show you...heaven. Yes, Kai, I'll show you heaven, just let everything fall into place"
Aries' hands danced across the glass, his fingers tracing Kai's reflection. "You'll be free, Kai. Free to explore my world, to love me, Ah, the wonders I'll show you! The joy I'll give you!"
As he spoke, Aries' words twisted and turned into an ever-winding tangle of madness, each sentence building on the last, creating a dizzying world of delusions and fantasies.
"And when everything goes according to plan, Kai...when everything is done, you'll be mine, truly mine. You'll be my everything, my beautiful Kai."
"Aries" he heard Kai call out to him.
"Yes my love?" His eyes held warmth as they stared at Kai.
"I hate you so much" Kai spat before turning away from the cruel man.
....
Days went by again and Kai was still in trapped in the glass box, Kai would plead with the man to let him at least go out, seeing as they're in the middle of nowhere.
Aries as usual, would decline or tell him to give it time, "you'll be free to wonder about" he would say.
Then, one day, as they crossed into calmness, Kai finally saw it, his moment unveiled at the edge of the woods.
A loose window where the light streamed through, the essence of freedom perched just outside the caress of glass.
His heart hammered wildly, he had to make a choice.
"Can we go outside?" Kai asked again, venom cloaked in sweetness; he needed to loosen the grip, just a little longer.
Aries watched closely, entranced, yet protective. "Soon, my love. Just wait." he replied, determination lingering in his voice.
Kai's heart dropped like it always did whenever he got a reply from Aries.
"What if I refuse?" he tested, noting the flicker of doubt sparking within Aries.
Aries brow furrowing, "You don't want to go out there."
Kai felt determination,"I need to be free! I won't live like this—trapped in glass!"
"I refuse to be a prisoner," Kai roared, the pain and anger breaking forth, laced with a pulse of resistance flowing through every word spoken—to stake his claim against his own feelings.
"I'll break free, I'll escape!" he declared, as he hit the walls of the glass box "ahhhh" he yelled as he kept hitting it.
"I'll love to see you try" Aries laughed right at his face, angering the older man.
"Fuck you Aries" Kai yelled as he kept hitting the glass wall, hoping to at least break it something, the older man needed to escape, he had to leave.
"I hate you!"
"I hate you so much!"
"Fucking bastard!"
"Let me out of here!"
"Let me go!"
"Aries" he called out to the light skin man as he began to walk out of the room.
"Aries"
"Aries!!!!!" He called after the man who had disappeared out of the room
"Aries" he whispered, knowing the man wasn't going to answer him. He fell to his knees, he sat down on the floor before pushing his knees to his chest and began sobbing.
