21. Full of Surprises

Today is my first day at work. I'm really nervous and anxious. I'm afraid I won't be able to do the job properly, like I should.

"Are you nervous?" Leo asked me.

I smiled awkwardly.

"There's no need to be nervous. I'll guide you well." Leo smiled sweetly at me. It was a smile that soothed my heart.

"You don't need to be nervous. There are me and Leo who will guide you. Don't look at other people's strengths, don't be jealous of other people's strengths. You have to focus on yourself. I'm sure you can do it." Sam encouraged me. I felt very happy when Sam encouraged me. It's nothing, everyone knows Sam is a cold, ignorant man. Unlike the Sam in front of me now.

"Sam is right. You have to focus on yourself. Don't look at other people. Because every human being has a different start." Leo also encouraged me. It touched me.

Leo patted my shoulder, as if channeling his strength to me. Not lying, I felt more comfortable afterwards.

"Cheer up, Ana. You can do it." Leo smiled widely, looking at me with confidence.

"Let's go now." Sam invited us to leave.

"Who do you want to go with, Ana? Me or Leo?" Sam asked me.

I wrinkled my forehead. "Aren't we going to go together in one car?" I asked confused.

"That's right, we're going together in one car. Why use different cars if we live together and the destination is the same?" Leo didn't want to go in his own car, he wanted us to go together.

Sam sighed. "Then you drive." Sam gave the car keys to Leo.

"You'll drive home?" Leo asked as a condition for him to agree to Sam's order.

"I'll drive home if we get home at the same time." Sam agreed to Leo's condition.

"How about you drive?" Leo looked at me with a smiling face and raised eyebrows.

"Me?" I pointed at myself. I was really shocked.

"Yes. To be fair, you drive." Leo repeated his words.

"If you're willing for us to end up in a hospital or a cemetery instead of an office, then give me the keys. I'll drive the car." I thrust my hand at Leo.

Leo burst out laughing. "Hahaha... How can you talk like that? My sense of humor is very low. Hahaha."

"Yes, that's the fact. I can't drive. If I drive the choice is only two. If we don't end up in the hospital then we'll end up in the graveyard." I felt like I wasn't being funny. Why was Leo laughing so hard?

"Stop joking around already. Let's go. I don't want us to be late." Sam took Leo and me away.

Me, Sam, and Leo walked out of the apartment together.

We went straight to the basement.

Leo was the one driving.

I got into the car. Sam also got into the car, but strangely he sat in the back, right next to me.

"Hey! Why are you sitting behind Sam? You think I'm your driver?! Move you to the front." Leo immediately protested when Sam sat next to me.

"I want to tell Ana what she needs to do. If I sit in the front, I can't tell Ana." Sam gave the reason why he was sitting in the back.

Leo let out a resigned sigh. Sam's reasoning could not be refuted by Leo.

Along the way Sam explained to me about what I should do, what my job was.

"Sam and I have different secretaries. Then you're my secretary and Sam, you could say the chief secretary?" Sam explained to me.

I actually felt that the job Sam and Leo gave me was useless. I mean, why would I be the chief secretary? They already have their own secretaries. Their secretaries organize all their schedules. Then what's my job? My presence seems useless.

"Is there no other position?" I asked Sam.

"What do you mean?" Sam asked me back.

"Is there no other position? I don't want to be a secretary. Give me another job." I made my wishes clear to Sam.

"No, you can't. If you want to work, then work in the position that Sam and I give you. Why are you asking for another job? Just accept the job that Sam and I give you." Leo continued my and Sam's conversation.

I sighed. "I really don't think my job is that important. Give me a better position, like sales marketing or whatever as long as it's the right job."

"So you're saying the job we gave you isn't right?" Sam asked me.

"That's not what I mean. I mean this job shouldn't exist. How can I be your secretary when you both have your own secretaries? What kind of job is that? It feels like I'm eating a blind paycheck." I really feel like I don't deserve to be in that position.

"Never mind Ana. It's the same job that everyone else is doing. You're not eating a blind paycheck. You work and deserve a paycheck." It seemed like Sam didn't like me protesting so she spoke like that.

I kept quiet, not in the mood to protest anymore. Because it's useless, Sam and Leo won't listen to me.

About 20 minutes into the trip, me, Sam and Leo have now arrived at the office.

I gaped wide as I stood right in front of Sam and Leo's office.

Really, there are no words that can describe my awe. This is really great, amazing. This office is really big and luxurious. The building is so tall, it's like it wants to touch you the sky.

"Let's go in." Leo invites me in.

I still couldn't believe that I could walk into a building this big.

When I entered, everyone greeted Sam and Leo respectfully. Again, I was amazed by that. It turns out that Leo and Sam are really respected by many people. I still can't believe that I can enter into the lives of Leo and Sam, perfect men like the characters in the novel.

"My room is on the 27th floor." Leo said to me when we were in the elevator.

"My room is on the 29th floor." This time it was Sam who spoke.

I furrowed my brow. "Then why are we going to the 28th floor?" I asked Leo and Sam.

"I've prepared a room for you," Sam replied.

"What? A study?" I asked in surprise.

Sam nodded in agreement.

"I get a workspace? How come I get a workspace?" I asked because I was surprised and confused.

"Why? You're working, you should get a workspace. Can you work outside the office? In the office yard? No way." Sam answered my question.

I smiled slightly. "Why did Sam answer the bike? Is he annoyed with me? Well I won't ask anymore," I said to myself.

Arriving on the 28th floor, Sam and Leo took me straight to my office.

And what a surprise I was when I saw my very spacious and luxurious office.

"You're not wrong?" I asked Sam.

"Why?" Sam asked back.

"This is like the boss's room. How did I get a room like this?" I asked, still in disbelief.

"No, it's not. My workspace and Sam's workspace are different from this." Leo continued our conversation.

"There, let's go in." Leo invited Sam and me into the room.

Really, I couldn't stop being amazed. I was really surprised and felt inappropriate at the same time. I didn't feel like I belonged in a room this big and luxurious.

"Why is my life full of surprises after I met Sam and Leo?" I asked myself.

"Really, everything that's happened is hard for me to digest." I tried to neutralize my thoughts in order to appear fine. Although I was actually very surprised and confused by everything that happened.
