17. Thanks To Ana
"Vernon. Let go of me. I want to take a shower." Ana asked Vernon to let her go.
Vernon, who was currently sitting on the sofa with his laptop in front of him, only gave Ana a glance.
Vernon looked a mess. He really looks frustrated. He looked like a living corpse.
"Vernon. Aren't you listening to me? I want to take a shower. Let me go." Ana asked Vernon once again.
"Shut up! I'm having a headache thinking about this project." Vernon sighed.
"Do you know what? If I don't get this project, father will punish me. I'll be transferred abroad. Really, I don't want to move abroad. I don't want to be away from my mom and dad." Vernon looked sad. Sadness mixed with frustration for not getting the project that his father had targeted.
"Why didn't you get the project? Maybe you lacked effort, you didn't study enough so you didn't win the cooperation project." Ana looked a little sorry for Vernon.
Vernon looked at Ana. "Do you know what? I'm really new to the business world. I'm really still a beginner. I was never interested in business. But my father forced me to enter the business world and continue all his businesses. Because I'm an only child." Vernon told Ana. His face looked haggard as he told Ana.
"You know what? I even stayed up late to study for this project. I really worked hard for this project. But still I didn't get it. Leo and Sam rejected me outright. Even though I've studied and tried my best for this project." Vernon didn't know who else to confide in. Since Ana was here, he would confide in Ana alone.
"Do you know Sam and Leo?" Ana asked.
"Of course I do! They're annoying people!" Vernon replied with a sullen face.
"They're both closely related to my father. They also often drop by my house. They also know I have no interest in going into business. And they cruelly refused to cooperate with me! I really hate them both!" Vernon looked emotional when talking about Sam and Leo.
"Maybe they didn't want to risk running a big project with an amateur like you." Ana joked innocently.
"Hey! How nice of you to call me an amateur! I'm smart! Even though I'm new to the business world, I'll make sure I always learn and work hard to be the best!" Vernon couldn't accept Ana calling him an amateur.
"Suit yourself. Untie my body, I'm going to take a shower." Back to the main topic, Ana wanted to be released.
"I don't want to. I won't let you go until Leo and Sam agree to a joint project with me." Vernon would not let Ana go.
"What the hell? Why are you like this? Leo told me that you are a good person. Why are you being like this to me?" Ana asked Vernon.
"It was Leo who said I was a good person, not me. So just hold him accountable." Vernon ignored Ana. He refocused on his laptop.
"How can I hold Leo accountable? Are you crazy? You're the one who kidnapped me for no good reason. Crazy! Let me go!" Ana's patience had run out. Ana was really sore from being tied up with ropes.
"Ask Leo and Sam to approve the cooperation project with my company." Vernon spoke without looking at Ana.
"How could I persuade them to agree? I'm not even their nobody. You know that, I'm their nobody." Ana was depressed, she was frustrated by Vernon's childish behavior.
Leo and Sam were right, Vernon was still childish.
"You! Things like this are not justified in terms of work. You could go to jail if I report you to the police." Ana scared Vernon.
"Alright, just report me to the police. Let my father know. I'll just resign myself to my father punishing me." Vernon looked resigned.
Ana sighed. This time Ana was really dizzy. Just knowing Vernon for a while already made her head want to break. What about Vernon's father who lived with Vernon? It was appropriate that Vernon's father threatened to move Vernon abroad. Maybe Vernon's father was tired of dealing with Vernon.
"Give me your cell phone." Ana borrowed Vernon's cell phone.
"What for?" asked Vernon.
"I want to call Leo. Give it to me quickly." Ana was impatient, she couldn't wait for long.
"Please persuade Leo and Sam to agree to work with my company." Vernon said as he gave his cell phone to Ana.
Ana immediately dialed Sam's number.
"Sam," Ana called when their call was connected.
"What's wrong, Ana?" asked Sam on the other end.
"Please take me home. I can't stand it here. Leo said Vernon was a good man. What good man? He won't even untie me. I'm not allowed to shower either." Ana complained to Sam.
"Turn on the speaker so Vernon can hear what I'm saying," Sam ordered.
Ana obeyed Sam's orders. Ana immediately activated the call speaker so that Vernon could hear what Sam was about to say.
"Vernon is crazy! Let go of Ana. Are you out of your mind? Ana is not involved in any of our problems. This is a business matter after all. How can you play dirty in the business world like this?" Sam spoke in an annoyed tone. Ana was sure that right now Sam's flat face must look creepy.
"Whatever you want to say. The important thing is that you must agree to work with my company. I promise I will work hard." Vernon promised Sam.
"No, I won't. I don't want to take any risks. You're not experienced in business. I don't want to risk this project failing because of you." Sam firmly rejected Vernon.
Vernon whined silently. He was really frustrated by this rejection. Really, Vernon didn't want to move abroad.
"Come on. Please. If you only allow experienced people to cooperate with you, then you're killing the chances of the younger generation and beginners who want to advance like me. You should accept my cooperation, you should give me a chance." Vernon was still trying to persuade Sam.
"No." Sam refused again.
"Never mind. I'm hanging up." After that Sam immediately disconnected the call unilaterally.
Vernon grimaced, he was really whining because he again failed to convince Sam.
"How is this? I don't want to move abroad. Even though I promised to give my best for this project. Why won't they give me a chance? Why is everyone rejecting me? How can I show my quality and hard work if they all reject me?" Vernon looked down. It seemed like Vernon's sadness was not made up. Ana, who saw him, felt sorry for him, unable to bear to see Vernon like that.
Ana looked for Leo's number, then Ana immediately called Leo.
"Leo ...." Ana called when Leo received her call.
"Yes, what's wrong?" Leo asked Ana.
"Leo, please think about your cooperation project with Vernon," Ana said.
"Why so suddenly? Why are you talking like that? Were you threatened by Vernon?" Leo asked Ana.
"No, I wasn't. I wasn't threatened by Vernon. I just wanted to give my opinion," Ana replied.
"You have to give Vernon a chance. Vernon has worked hard, he also studied hard for this project. Even though Vernon doesn't like business, he studied hard for this project. Please give Vernon a chance." Ana persuaded Leo.
"We can't, Ana. We need an experienced partner. This project is so important, Sam and I can't let our company work with a rookie like Vernon." Leo explained to Ana the reasons why he could not accept cooperation with Vernon's company.
"But everyone deserves a chance, Leo. Everyone also comes in as a beginner, not experienced right away. If you're always looking for experienced people, then what about the beginners who have tried hard and studied diligently? Don't they deserve the same opportunity? Come on. Vernon deserves it. Vernon is really serious about this project." Ana persuaded Leo. Ana spoke at length for Vernon's sake.
She couldn't bear to see Vernon in despair like now. After all, Ana saw for herself how hard Vernon tried to study. Like now, even Vernon couldn't escape his laptop and learned about this project, even though Vernon was still rejected.
Leo sighed. Ana was right, but Leo couldn't decide this on his own. Leo had to talk to Sam.
"Hold on, I'll talk to Sam."
There was the sound of a door opening and Leo's footsteps. It seemed like Leo was walking towards Sam's room.
"Sam..."
"Hey! Why did you come in without knocking? That's rude!" Sam immediately snapped at Leo who had just walked into his room.
"I want to talk," Leo said.
Ana listened to their conversation from the phone that was still connected.
"What about the project? Can't we accept working with the blue diamond company?" Leo asked Sam.
"Why do you ask? You know yourself what the reason is why we don't accept working with the blue diamond company." Sam replied curtly.
"But Sam, you have to give Vernon a chance. Vernon deserves to show his skills. You have to give him a chance." Ana began to speak up.
"You're on the phone with Ana?" asked Sam in surprise.
"Yes," Leo replied briefly.
"Sam, please give Vernon a chance. I'm sure Vernon can do a good job." Ana pleaded with Sam.
"I can't, Ana. How can I give a chance to someone who has no experience at all? This is an important project, I can't just choose the company that will work with me." Sam approached Ana on why she rejected Vernon.
"Sam, does everyone who enters the business world immediately become a great person?" Ana asked.
"Did you become a great person right away when you entered the business world? Did you never go through the phase of being a beginner?" Ana asked Sam again.
Sam was silent, he didn't answer. Even though Sam didn't answer, of course Ana knew what the answer was.
"No one is instantly great in their field, Sam. If you choose great people to work with you, what about beginners who have worked hard to be the best in their field? Should beginners not get the same opportunity? If it's like this, there will never be great people in the future. Because great people come from beginners who go through the ups and downs of the process." Ana expresses her heart.
Seeing this, Ana felt a sense of injustice towards beginners like Vernon.
"Besides, I saw for myself how hard Vernon studied to be the best in this project. Even though you have rejected Vernon, he is still studying this project. Vernon wants to be a great person like you, please give Vernon the opportunity to show his abilities. Guide Vernon so he can be better. Knowledge is useless if you keep it to yourself. Share your knowledge so that it can be useful for others." Ana was really like a parent who was advising her child.
There was a long sigh from the cell phone that Ana was holding.
"Alright. I'll give Vernon a chance..."
"WHAT?!!! DIDN'T I HEAR WRONG?
"I will directly monitor his progress. If Vernon doesn't progress and doesn't take this project seriously, I'll terminate the contract immediately." Sam finally agreed to work with Vernon.
Vernon immediately walked over to Ana. His eyes were still wide. "YOU'RE NOT JOKING BY SAYING SOMETHING LIKE THAT, ARE YOU?" asked Vernon with a strong voice almost shouting.
"Keep your voice down! My ears hurt from your powerful voice!" Ana reprimanded Vernon.
"I'm sorry, it's really a reflex because I was so surprised." Vernon grinned, he apologized to Ana.
"You really accepted the cooperation project with my company? Really? I'm not listening wrong? You're not lying, are you?" Vernon bombarded Sam and Leo with many questions.
"Was it unclear what I said earlier? Or do you want me to change what I just said?" Sam asked Vernon.
Vernon smiled widely. Vernon immediately snatched his cell phone from Ana's hand. "Hahaha... no-no, don't do that."
Vernon pointed his cell phone at his ear. "Thank you, thank you both so much for giving me a chance. I will do my best. I'll make sure you're not disappointed in working with my company." Vernon's smile still hadn't faded, he looked very happy.
"Then let Ana go. Take Ana back to my apartment." Leo told Vernon to take Ana home.
"No, let us pick Ana up. Or me if Leo doesn't want to. I want to go out for dinner, so I can pick Ana up. Send me your address." Sam interrupted Leo's speech.
Leo looked at Sam, he was surprised that Sam wanted to pick up Ana. It turned out that Ana and Sam were now really good friends.
"Alright. I'll send the address right away. Thank you. I'll hang up. See you later." Vernon immediately turned off his cell phone, then Vernon threw his cell phone on the sofa.
"YEAY!!! THEY FINALLY ACCEPTED TO WORK WITH ME ON THIS PROJECT. I'M REALLY VERY HAPPY. YEAAAAAHHH I DID IT!! DAD, I DID IT!! DON'T MOVE ME ABROAD." Vernon was jumping up and down in delight. His face literally lit up, radiating happiness.
Vernon walked up to Ana. "Thank you for helping me convince Leo and Sam." Vernon smiled widely, he thanked Ana.
"I helped you because I believe you can do your best. So don't make any mistakes." Ana warned Vernon.
Vernon saluted Ana. "Ready boss!!!" he replied with an excited smile.
Ana laughed softly at Vernon's behavior. It turned out that Vernon wasn't that annoying.
Vernon opened the ropes tied to Ana's body and hands.
"I'm sorry, I kidnapped you." Vernon apologized to Ana.
"Good thing you're a good kidnapper, giving me good food and drink. If you were a bad kidnapper, I would have kicked you in the face when you let me go." Ana smiled wryly.
Vernon laughed at Ana's words. A kind kidnapper? This was the first time Vernon had heard of a kind kidnapper.
Ana and Vernon waited for Sam and Leo to pick them up. Ana and Vernon waited for Leo and Sam's arrival while playing games and talking a little about their lives.
