Chapter 68 - Luna Ceremony

One Week Later…

**Cassie** -

What a week! So many things happened this last week…

Sadly, Alpha Sven passed away in his sleep the night he gave Dave his power, though I know it was a relief for him, the only way his suffering would end. Dr Thorne was with him as he passed. Dave and Daisy set out early the next morning for the Twin Lakes Packlands, so they could begin restoring order. Ace and Maddie got away, they ran before Dave could get there and have been in the wind ever since, there is no sign of them anywhere, it seems that Ace, Maddie and her father all fled so I imagine they will be back to get what they believe is rightfully theirs, Dave and Daisy have been working tirelessly to try to apprehend them as well as to secure the pack against them should they try to return. Although I am worried about this Jack and the others have been very reassuring and security has been increased across both packs in the hopes of keeping everyone safe.

Brian has been a huge asset to Jack through all of this, he went over to Twin Lakes the day after Dave and Daisy did, to see what he could do to help them when they found Ace had fled. He found both of them cloistered in a single office discussing what they had learnt so far and drawing up a plan for their next steps, since then Daisy has been working on my Luna ceremony, which is set to begin within the hour, redecorating the Twin Lakes pack house and getting to know her new role as Beta. Dave has been restoring order for the pack members, upping their security, working on finding Ace and administering the punishments he had discussed with Alpha Sven, on top of so many other things.

Brian met his mate on his visit to Twin Lakes, a great guy named Mark who moved in with him that day, they have been blissfully happy and Mark officially joined our pack a couple of days ago, they are so adorable together, Mark is a warrior and his knowledge of battle techniques has helped our warriors improve already, we considered offering him the beta position but have decided he needs to go through the trial with others so we are not showing favouritism.

Tara has been a great help to me, she may have been a maid in Twin lakes but her parents were Gamma’s and she knows a lot about what my duties as Luna will be, I have been working with her alot to learn as much as possible. She is still keeping to herself and has not met any other pack members yet, though I have a sneaking suspicion she should meet with Jason soon, both of them have commented on the smell of my office, my own personal office, which is currently only frequented by themselves, me and Jack. Daisy has been in my office once and declared it in dire need of new furniture, but that will have to wait. I have a feeling Jason and Tara are mates, I am almost sure of it, but until they actually meet face to face, it is just a theory. Since both of them are a part of the Luna ceremony Tara won’t be able to hide much longer and I will know if my suspicions are correct, Lexi agrees with me and is excited to witness their connection fall into place.

**Author POV -**

The Luna ceremony is about to begin, everything is in place. Cassie, Daisy and Tara are dressed and awaiting the arrival of Felix Thorne, who will be walking Cassie down the aisle. Cassie's dress is a pale green, floor-length, chiffon gown with a cascade of pale yellow flowers across the skirt, her hair is pinned behind her left ear making it float down over her right shoulder, clearly showing the skin where Jack's mark will sit before today is over. Daisy and Tara are dressed in the opposite to Cassie, their matching, yellow tea length gowns with pale green flowers across the skirts matched the design of Cassie's dress in reverse, they also have their hair down, pinned to one side so it flows down over their left shoulder, again the opposite of Cassie. The men are all waiting under the dias that Daisy insisted they have constructed and that Tara decorated with yellow and green flowers like those on their dresses and had covered the whole thing with beautiful little butterfly shaped fairy lights that winked at the crowd from between flowers. The sky is alight with pastel colours as the sun sets behind the trees in front of which the ceremony will take place, and the fairy lights are glowing, casting an almost mystical glow over the area. Dr Thorne knocks on the door gently, indicating it is time for Cassie to make her entrance. Daisy kisses her cheek and whispers "you are as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside, never forget that Cassie, you are worth everything'' and she steps forward and makes her way down the aisle which is covered with a spatter of colourful flower petals, Tara takes Cassie's hand and gives it a reassuring squeeze before following Daisy silently.

"Ready?" Asks Thorne.

"Absolutely, I have been for a while now" Cassie replies, smiling brighter than ever before. She watches her friends make their way down to the dias before Felix takes her arm, tucking her hand into the crook of his own.Slowly they begin to walk towards the beginning of the aisle, strewn with fragrant petals, towards the love of her life.

Just as they reach the edge of the carpet of petals leading her to Jack, Jason abruptly steps forward and clutches Tara to him, calling “Mate” and leaning in close to whisper something in her ear.

"Go," says Cassie, "go, we can manage without you for this, you've done all you have to, go, be happy and I will see you both tomorrow…or the day after maybe." Cassie is smiling broadly, she watches, happy beyond words, two of her closest friends, as Jason lifts Tara into his arms bridal style and hastily leaves her ceremony with a cheery wave to the whistles sounding from the crowd. Delighted that her instincts had been correct and she was indeed right about them being mates.

After watching Jason carry Tara away, I make my way down the carpet of petals to the love of my life. Once I reach the altar and my mate I turn to face Felix and place a kiss on his cheek before he passes my hand to Jack, the light shining in his eye is unmistakable and is matched by the gleam in my own eye.

"Told ya so," I say to Jack, he laughs rolling his eyes as he pulls me into a hug.

"Yeah, yeah, I know, I know, I bow to your superior wisdom, Luna," he responds cheekily.

Dave is sitting in the front row with Daisy, between the Alphas from the three packs that originally offered me refuge just a few short months ago.

I made a point of contacting each of them personally after Alpha Sven passed, to tell them about his death as well as to thank them for offering me asylum. The ceremony begins with an elder greeting our guests from neighbouring packs who grace us with their presence.

After the ceremony, which is mostly a blur of repeating phrases, has been completed, I feel the rush of power that comes from being the Luna of a pack and I turn to face all of the guests.

"Thank you for your acceptance, I promise to be the best Luna I can and I want you all to know my door is always open to every single one of you," I call over the crowd, "please never hesitate, if you have needs they are my own and I my greatest wish is that each every one of you matters to this pack, and to me." The crowd goes wild at this, clapping and cheering my words and I am touched. Now all I need to feel complete is to become one with my mate. We decided to wait until today, we wanted to spend time getting to know each other, but it has been difficult to stop ourselves at times in the past week.
