Chapter 25 Anger
Chapter 25 Anger
~ AXEL’S POV
“You’ll have to get her pregnant as soon as possible.” That’s what Catherine told me.
It’s the only reason she suggested the farmhouse, she wants to make sure I get Nyla pregnant as fast as possible.
I am still contemplating that. Honestly, I tried to think about it the Cathrine is but I just can’t seem to bring myself to do that and so, I am working so hard.
After dinner, I went straight to my office. I needed to make sure that things don’t fall apart. I have to find whoever is behind all these incidents as soon as possible. It’s the only way I can get Cathrine to stop suggesting going to the farmhouse. She’s already filled that idea into Nyla’s head and I’m afraid Nyla would be asking me about it too.
Nyla had no idea what Cathrine’s are and I don’t want to trap her into them. It’s bad enough she’s having a hard time around here trying to be the Luna, I really don’t want things to get worse for her.
"This is not what I asked for Karim!" I yelled tossing the paper away. "I said get me the list of all the alphas around us and their schedule."
I need that list so I can put my head together and figure out who is plotting against me. Before, I was only looking into my rivals but now I have to check everyone because who knows, the enemy might just be a friend.
"Alpha I think it’s a lot to handle, maybe we should shift it to tomorrow."
I looked at him as if he were saying some sort of nonsense. My brows knitted "If I could wait till tomorrow, do you think I would have wanted it today?"
Of course that wasn’t a question he needed to answer, he just nodded and I turned my attention to the other files on my desk.
"I’m not working on anything that isn’t this case. So schedule these for some other day." I said
"Okay, Alpha." He said taking it from my desk.
"I also need the board and need that list in the next hour, do you understand that?"
He nodded "Yes Alpha."
When he exited the room, I went back to working,
Minutes passed by and I was still stuck on the same thing. No clue. No lead. No nothing. It’s almost as if all my hard work is going to be in vain and I am not doing anything reasonable.
I felt like slamming my head on the table and keep hitting it until my brain can think of something that will help me solve this case.
"Fuck!" I cursed by the minute.
I tossed the files away as I reached for the note. I read it again and started comparing it to the other letters I’ve received in the past but the handwriting doesn’t match.
All are just baseless. Absolutely nothing.
I groaned putting the letters away.
Just then, I heard a knock on my door, I thought it was Karim so I said "Come in." And immediately started talking "I hope you have something important for me. I don’t want all of that nonsense papers of us."
"Nonsense?" Nyla’s voice filled the air.
I looked up and saw her face, she looked confused.
"I thought it was Karim," I said
"Ohh, well it’s me." She said as she smiled. She walked up to me "What are you doing?"
"Trying to solve this case. It’s really hectic."
"Yeah I can tell but maybe you should drop it for now and come to bed. It’s already late."
I sighed heavily "I don’t think I can sleep with this going on, I need to solve it and get us safety as soon as possible."
"Ohh okay," She said
"Yeah, so why are you here?" I asked. Something told me she was here for a reason.
"Uhh…. I wanted to check on you and also talk to you about the discussion we had at the dining table,"
I exhaled heavily. I should have known Cathrine sent her here. "I don’t think now is the right time Nyla. I’m kinda busy."
"It’s not gonna take long. I just want to ask you why you don’t want to go to the farmhouse?"
"As I said, there is a lot of work to do here. I can’t afford to leave."
"It’s not like you’re totally leaving, you’ll come back," She said as if it was that easy
"I can’t leave my people. The way it’s dangerous for me, that’s exactly how it’s dangerous for them." I said
She didn’t reply instantly and I thought the conversation was over until she said "I don’t know, maybe it’s a good idea that we just leave for at least a week and then come back when things are good."
"No!" I said sternly not having it.
"Oh come on Axel. Cathrine is sick worried about us, that’s why she suggested this."
I scoffed. If only she knew "I said no,"
"But Axel…" She started to speak but I quickly cut her off
"I said no!" My voice echoed throughout the room. I should have stopped there but I was too upset that I kept talking "Cathrine doesn’t know shit! You don’t know shit!" I pointed my finger at her "I’m not leaving here to be at some dumb farmhouse. I need to find out who is behind all of this and get us the safety we deserve. Do you understand that?"
She nodded "Yes." Her voice was low like a whisper "I just thought…"
"Get out!" I cut her off
Her brows knitted in confusion "What?"
"I said get out!" I yelled. At this point, I couldn’t control my anger and I was scared that I would unleash my beast in her presence.
Nyla stood there, confused by my sudden outburst. She wasn’t moving and it was pissing me off that she wasn’t listening to me "Get the fuck out!"
Immediately she turned around and walked out of the room. I sighed heavily, my heart racing out of my rib cage.
I cover my face with my hands as I try to calm myself down. I know I messed up but this is way better than unleashing my beast in front of her.
As I felt a lot better, I went back to working. I didn’t want to go meet Nyla now, I know she won’t want to speak with me and I understand that. For now, I just have to figure out who the enemy is and what exactly they want.
