Chapter 15 Meeting The Family

Chapter 15 Meeting The Family
NYLA’S POV

I looked at my reflection one last time before grabbing my bag. I am wearing a long floral dress because Axel and I are going to meet his extended family elders.

I am so nervous about this. I know how much of a big deal this is. I don’t know what to expect from them, but given all circumstances, I know it’s gonna be a tough one. I’m doing everything I can to make sure that I look great, and I hope that they like me.

I adjusted my hairstyle one last time and looked at my reflection before stepping out of the room. My heart is filled with nervousness as I force myself to take slow, steady breaths while rehearsing polite greetings.

I just have to make sure that everything goes well today. Meeting the elders is the biggest deal here in Black Pack community because their likeness determines how long your relationship lasts. It’s not like Axel and I will magically just separate, but it’s best they like me since Axel is the Alpha and I am the Luna.

Axel and I got into the car and the drive started. All through it, I kept thinking about how I’d answer if they questioned my family’s background or my position within the Luna circle.

I don’t know anything. I don’t even know what a Luna routine is meant to be like. Still, I try to remember every tip Catherine ever shared with me.

Axel glanced at me and smiled as he asked, "Nervous?"

How does he always guess when I’m nervous? "A little bit," I admitted. "I don’t know what to expect. What if they don’t like me?"

"What if they do?" He stepped off my question.

I sighed heavily.

He put his hand on mine. "It’s gonna be fine, Nyla. They are not that scary, and you’re not that bad. They are going to like you."

I nodded, forcing a smile on my face.

After a few, we finally arrived at the location. The palace gate swung open, revealing a magnificent view of the castle. As the driver drove into the castle, I take in my view, starting with the front garden which took away my attention for a bit. It is beautifully manicured with touches of flowers, grass, and an elegant waterfall.

I glance at the guards stationed in front of the castle, their intense gaze sending a chill down my spine as if they were fixated on me. I quickly avert my eyes from them.

The driver parked the car in front of the castle and the guards walked up to open the door for Axel.

I grabbed Adam’s outstretched hand and stepped out of the car. He put his hand on my exposed back and walked us to the castle entrance.

Getting in, we were greeted by a woman who looked like she’s in her early forties. "Axel." She grinned, walking toward him. She wrapped her arms around him.

"Gina, I’ve missed you so much," Axel said. When he pulled out of the hug, he quickly introduced, "Gina, this is Nyla, my mate, and Nyla, this is my Gina. My aunt and the Luna of Crystal Palace."

Gina looked at me. She didn’t react for a second and then wrapped her arms around me.

When she pulled away she said, "I won’t lie, I didn’t think the Luna would be this pretty."

I couldn’t help but smile. "Thank you," I said quietly.

Just then, a man who looked like he’s in his late forties walked up to us. "I knew I sensed a presence," He said.

Axel’s eyes lit up when he saw him. "Uncle Mark." He embraced him.

"Axel, it’s been ages since I’ve seen you." He pulled away. "I’ve missed having you around."

"Well now you would because now not alone," Axel replied as he pointed at me. "This is Nyla, my mate."

Mark turned his attention to me. "It’s a pleasure having you here."

"Thank you."

"Anyways, Nyla, come with me, you need to be introduced to everyone," Gina said, taking my hand.

I followed her while Axel stood back. Gina took me to the garden where the four ladies were. They were all dressed up pretty nice.

I’m so glad I wore a nice dress today. I would have been out of place if I didn’t.

"Ladies, this is Nyla, Axel’s Luna," She announced.

I smiled, ready to meet them. They turned their heads to me, eyes lit up with joy and a radiant smile on their faces. As they walked closer, the lady in blue stopped, her eyes narrowed as she questioned, "You’re an omega?"

My heart dropped. All eyes turned to me. I didn’t say a thing, but I could tell they needed me to say something. Gina instantly stepped aside as she repeated, "You’re an omega."

"Yes." My voice came out like a whisper.

They didn’t say anything afterwards, but I can tell that it bothered them. For some reason, they seemed fine with me at first, but knowing I am an omega changed their expressions completely, making it clear that my presence might not be fully welcomed.

The maid walked up to us and broke the awkward silence. "Lunch is served."

That was the only thing that got me out of the awkwardness, but still, it didn’t stop there. Lunch felt really intense.

Axel and the others seemed pretty good and were talking and laughing, but I just couldn’t shake the feeling that their eyes lingered on me a little longer than necessary, making me feel exposed at every turn.

Axel’s two cousins joined us and we were pretty much a lot at the dining table, which only means that there are more people around us that can tell I am an omega.

While eating, the lady in blue said, "Axel, have you taught the Nyla our Luna traditions?"

"No, I haven’t," He said casually.

She responded, "Well you should, before the full moon arrives, or she might embarrass herself in front of everyone."

Axel glanced at me and then her. "Don’t worry about Nyla embarrassing herself, she’s super smart, she’d learn all of this in no time."

"Yes, but she’s an omega. Naturally she’d be slow," The other said.

I sighed heavily. I didn’t say a thing. I just kept my gaze on the plate, hoping the conversation would shift, but the tension clung to the air like static.

"She’s an omega?" Mark asked, shocked.

"You didn’t know? Axel, you didn’t tell him?" Gina gushed.

I sank into the chair as each one of them had something to say about me. A part of me felt really embarrassed and the other was trying to get used to it. I realized that no matter how hard I tried, their opinions hung over me like a storm waiting to break. I really can’t wait for this day to be over.

Just a few more hours and that’s it. I hope I survive.
