Chapter 13 Bullied

Chapter 13 Bullied
Axel woke me up very early to join him for training. Even though I was the one who told him I wanted to train, I’m really not having it right now.

"Raise it," He commanded.

My hand struggled to lift the weight, shaking with each movement.

"You can do it, just believe in yourself," He said.

Now this is what I mean by I’m not having it. It’s just so hard. I’ve never lifted weights before; being an omega really makes strength training feel almost impossible, but at least I have Axel pushing me to get it right.

The weight started to lower to my chest and Axel quickly grabbed it with one hand. He puts it away and I am left panting. My heart is racing out of my rib cage.

"I’m sorry," I said, breathing heavily. "It’s just so hard."

"It’s alright. You’ll get used to it," He said as he handed over a bottle of water to me. When I was drinking he said, "I have to go train with the boys. Maybe you should join the girls. They are easy-going, so you’ll definitely have something you can do."

I glanced at the girls. They had eyes on Axel, especially the one in white. I noticed she couldn’t stop staring at him.

I don’t want to train with them but regardless I agreed. "Okay."

I kept the water bottle down and I headed to the girls. None of them talked to me. They started stretching, so I joined them in doing that. Some of the girls were whispering to each other while the others were stealing glances at me. Honestly, I felt really out of place. It’s almost as if they don’t want me around them, maybe they don’t.

"So, you’re Alpha Axel’s mate," The girl in white said as she twirled her finger in her blonde hair.

"Yes," I replied.

She looked at me from head to toe then whispered to the girl next to her. The girl looked at me and smiled, but not a good smile. Then she stepped forward and said, "Why does it feel like I’ve seen you around before?"

"Well, we attended the same high school," I said

"I don’t think so."

I laugh slightly. "That’s because I’ve changed a lot. I’m Nyla, the girl who used to wear a big round glass and a skirt that swept the floor?"

It took her a slight while before she recalled. "Ohh, yeah. I now see the resemblance. You’ve changed a lot."

I thought it was a compliment so I smiled. "Thank you."

"No, really, you’ve changed a lot." Her voice is now dim, making it obvious that it’s not a compliment. "You used to be the girl who does nothing but sit around and read books, now you’re after the man you could only wish to have in your dreams."

"I don’t understand," I said, confused.

She scoffed, taking a step closer. "Of course you don’t."

The rest of the girls started laughing. I still couldn’t make sense of what she was saying. Then the girl in white stepped forward. "Weren’t you friends with Tasha?"

"Yes," I replied, looking between them in confusion.

"You took her man away. She was supposed to be with Alpha Axel. Not that she deserves him or anything, but she was way better than you and at least she would never scam her way into his life."

"I didn’t scam my way into his life. The moon goddess chose me to be his mate and Luna."

"Yeah right. Like the moon goddess will ever want you to be the Luna. You are not fit to be a Luna. Only a beta like Tasha or me is fit, right Tasha?" She said, glancing behind.

In between the crowd of girls, they moved aside and Tasha stood there, looking just as upset as she was the last time I saw her.

She growled as she said, "Yes."

Yes? She also thinks I’m not fit to be the Luna? Maybe she does. She’s upset right now, so of course she’ll say that, but that doesn’t mean she meant it, right? I know it doesn’t mean.

One of the girls who clearly seems to hate me stepped up and said, "Why are you even friends with her? She betrayed you."

Tasha took a moment before she replied. "Who said anything about being friends with her?" She scoffed. "We were friends but not anymore."

A trail of tears filled my eyes, but I didn’t let myself cry. Tasha has been my best friend for years and even with everything that happened, I always thought she’d be by my side. After all, that’s what best friends do, right?

"What? You wanna cry?" Tasha scoffed. "Maybe you should cry. After all, you’ve been nothing but an unfortunate person. You took him away from me."

"I didn’t have a choice."

"Yes, you did. You could have rejected him, but instead you kissed him right in front of me just to rub it on my face," She gushed.

"Tasha, you know that’s not true."

"So you’re calling me a liar now?" She growled, stepping forward. The girls all backed her up as they stood behind her.

"I’m not calling you a liar," I said quietly.

"Yeah, of course, because the only lying person here is you. You are a liar and a betrayer!" She nudged me.

I stumbled a bit but I don’t fall. I wanted to say something to her but I don’t know what to. She’s acting very differently. It’s almost like she’s not my best friend anymore, like she’s someone else, someone I don’t know about.

Tasha looked like she was about to speak when suddenly her anger was washed away with a smile when Axel walked up to us.

He glanced at me and then her, then me, as he asked, "Everything alright?"

Tasha instantly chirped in, "Yeah, Alpha Axel, everything is fine."

"Okay, but I was actually asking my mate." He looked at me again, waiting for a response.

Of course, I couldn’t tell him anything, so I just faked a smile and said, "Yeah. It’s all good."

"Okay, let’s go home." He took my hand in his and we walked away. Reaching the door, I turned to look at Tasha, who pulled her middle finger at me.

I sighed softly as tears welled up in my eyes. I can’t believe I just lost my best friend.
