Chapter 10 Garden

Chapter 10 Garden
The next morning, after having breakfast with Axel, I decided to stroll around the house and take a look at the place. I’ve heard a lot of stories about the Alpha mansion and how beautiful it is. Even though my mom and Axel’s mom have been friends for ages, I haven’t really been here a lot, nor did I ever have a chance to look around the place but now that it’s my new home, I really want to see it all.

I started by walking to the backyard which was large and very quiet with a wonderful view, making it the easiest and best place of mine. I love quietness and I love a beautiful view but together just remind me of heaven - the best place ever.

As I was completely engrossed by the backyard environment, I heard a firm voice from behind me "Isn’t it just so beautiful?"

I turned around to see a lady who looked like she was in her late twenties, from her outfit, I could tell that she was a servant here. I nodded saying "It’s nothing like I’ve ever seen before."

"Indeed it is. Did you know that tall trees were planted here before? They covered the entire view, but the late Alpha had them taken down because he believed the view shouldn’t be hidden," She said still admiring the place

"Really?" I asked, and she nodded, though I didn’t understand how she knew that when the late Alpha died many years ago, so I asked "But how do you even know that? You don’t look like you were around back then."

She scoffed. "I wasn't, but my mother was, and she told me all about this place. Its history is truly unique."

I nodded in agreement.

"Anyway, it seems like you're on a mission to discover the best spots in the palace. Maybe I should show you around," She offered.

"I would love that," I replied.

As she started walking, I followed her behind, wondering where she’d take me next. "By the way, what’s your name?"

"I’m Stephanie," She replied with a small smile on her face

"And I’m Nyla," I said. She looked at me, the smile on her face grew, and casually said, "I already know that. In fact, I think I think everyone around here knows who you are. You’re the queen and you don’t need to introduce yourself."

I agreed with her.

Stephanie walked us out of the backyard and into the garden, the second we got there, my gaze bulged and I was in awe. The garden was filled with beautiful roses, lilies, and all sorts of beautiful flowers. It felt like I had just walked into the garden of heaven and it only got better when the breeze blew and the atmosphere was hostile.

"Wow," I said brushing the flowers with my fingers as I looked around the place, loving every part of it.

Stephanie stood back and let me admire the garden for a brief moment before I turned around to her and said "I don’t think I’ve ever seen any garden this beautiful before,"

"Wait till the pigeons are released. With them flying around, it’s just the most wonderful thing ever."

I was about to remark on that when my gaze dawned on Axel who was standing feets away from me with a man and it seemed so evident that they were having a heated conversation. My brows furrowed as I looked further at them trying to see what was going on exactly.

Stephanie might have noticed I was staring at them because she suddenly said "The man with Alpha Axel is Ray, the family’s doctor."

"Ohh but why are they arguing?" I asked

She shrugged "I can’t tell why."

"Ohh okay."

"Anyways, do you want to look further? There are other beautiful places around here."

I didn’t reply to her since my eyes were still on Axel and Ray. The way Axel was talking made it obvious that something was off; he seemed angry and almost as if he was about to explode out of anger. While Ray just stood there, absorbing all the anger as if he was used to it.

I could hear Stephanie saying something, but I ignored her as I watched Axel turn away from Ray and walk toward me. As he got closer, I said "Hi," but he didn’t answer; he just walked past me as if he didn’t hear me or was too angry to respond. I’ve never seen him like this before, even back in school when he gets upset, he never gets this angry, I wonder what’s wrong.

Confused, I decided to shrug off the thought of Axel as I turned back to Stephanie and asked, "Sorry, what were you saying again?"

She replied, "I was wondering if you’d like to see more places."

"Ohh, of course I do," I said.

"Well, come with me; I have a lot to show you," she said, but just then, Catherine approached us. "I think you can postpone whatever you want to show her until further notice; right now, I need to talk to Luna," she said to Stephanie.

Stephanie excused herself, and then Catherine turned to me. "I’m sure you’re wondering why I want to talk to you all of a sudden. Well, I realized that keeping quiet won’t solve a thing."

"Did I do something wrong?" I asked feeling the tension in the air weighing on me

She scoffed "Well, let’s just say you’re doing something wrong and now it’s my job to guide you to the right path." She replied casually before taking a step closer to me "You see Nyla, you’re now a Luna, you have responsibilities so you have to act like a Luna, talk like a Luna, and dress like a Luna. You shouldn’t be out here making friends with the maids and wandering around the garden, you should be inside, working on how you’ll help your Alpha."

I honestly don’t see anything wrong with what I’m doing, but since Catherine seemed serious, I decided to go along with her, nodding as if I agreed with her points.

"Good. First, I have to admit that I don’t believe you’re the best Luna, but since the moon goddess decided to make you the Luna, I can’t change that. However, I can fix things and help you become the Luna you are meant to be."

"Okay," I replied awkwardly

"First of all, I need you to stop seeing me as the cool, nice Catherine you know me as but as the Luna who you’re about to take her position for good. I’ll teach you everything Nyla and I’ll make sure you become the Luna everyone wants." She said confidently. I could only nod because I have no idea what she’s planning but I have a deep feeling that it’s going to change me for good.
