Chapter 23
Amelia's POV.
“Why are you all mad at me?! I didn't commit any crime and I didn't lie either. Maya here is a witch and everyone here can not deny the fact that it is true, she is a witch and she could be the one responsible for the illness she is the only one here that possesses the ability to cast such illness” Freya lashed out in rage, her eyes lighting in up in anger.
Freya's words and actions displayed nothing but trouble and hate. She clearly does not want me around, and she detests everything I do. Her words just now said it all because she had accused me of being the problem.
Luna Bella gasped in awe at Freya's words; she was not expecting Freya to do what she had just done. She knew Freya's words would leave a mark on my mind, and that would probably affect my stay there.
The fear that I would cancel my work to heal the king was evident on her face as she gave Freya a dead look, probably searching for the right words to use to salvage the situation.
Damien was also rendered speechless by her words and went to save the situation,n, but then, Kaid, who had been silent all this while, stood up for me. Kaiden had kept quiet all this while observing what was going on between them.
He wanted to act earlier when Freya started her madness, but I gave him a signal look that made him take back what he had wanted to say; he knew we were here for a purpose, but now, he probably could not watch that for on without doing something.
“You there not talk to her in such a manner young woman. Maya is only here to help get your king and father in law but and all you could was to accuse her of making the same person she had come to heal sick.” Kaiden raged with a grin on his face and detestation evident in his eyes as he stared at Freya with so much anger.
“Was your king sick before we arrived at your pack?” Kaiden threw the question at Freya, his eyes lighting up in anger.
“Answer me, Luna!” He lashed out at Freya when he did not get any response from her except for the constant fuzzy she was making.
Kaiden had thrown away the fact that Freya was a Luna, it was clear that he could no longer take her dramatic words and he clearly could not take it any longer, he had it up to her and it was time for him to get things clear in her head and also remind them who they are dealing with.
Kaiden's voice instilled some sense of fear in her. She jolted in her seat in shock at the sound of his voice and gave Luna, Bella, and Damien a look for rescue, but they both seemed to ignore her. Seeing that she had no one to rescue her, she mumbled an answer.
“Yes, he was,” she repeated her response after Kaiden sent her another wicked glare.
“Then don't make a fool of yourself here by accusing or calling her names again, do you understand!” Kaiden barked.
“Yes,” she responded in what was barely above a whisper.
“Maya, we would have to leave this pack since they are here accusing you of what you did not do; they should go get another healer to cure the Alpha,” Kaiden turned and said to me and got ready to leave. I also stood up and followed him, but then, Damien stopped us.
“No, please hold on, you don't have to leave, you don't have to do this, this way. We can get this sorted out more amicably”. Damien proposed gently.
“What way do think would have been better to get this sorted out?” Kaiden asked, not caring about his words anymore.
“I know she was wrong; she made a mistake, but please, don't take it too far, don't take her away.” Damien insisted.
“You watch you, Luna, rain insults on my healer, and you expect me to sit and smile with you. I brought her here to help you pack out and not to be treated like she is nothing. If we must stay back and she continues with her treatment on the king, then you will have to put your dog on a leash.” Kaiden came in with no emotions, his voice firm and his eyes bloodshot.
“You don't call me a dog, Alpha Kaiden,” Freya scuffed, this time around, receiving a thunderous shun from Damien.
“Shut the fuck up, Freya, or get the help out of here!” Damien lashed out in rage at her, making her shrink like a dead leaf as both men sent a deadly glare at her.
“Can you get hold of your mouth for once,, woma,n, and stop making a mess of yourself here? You have no help to offer, and I will not let you make people who have something to offer to the pack leave because of your charlatan attitude!” Luna Bella also lashed out at Freya almost the same time.
“Please, Maya and Alpha Kaiden, overlook her irresponsible behavior and stay back, if not for anything, for the sake of the king, who is on the verge of death. Please, I will make sure this never happens again.” Bella turned and pleaded with us.
“Apologize to her at once!” Damien yelled at Freya.
She was reluctant for the first time, but after Damien gave her a deadly stare, she had no option but to apologize: “I'm sorry for my words, Maya; it will not happen again.” Freya apologized.
‘Sorry for yourself’ I thought to myself and stared at her with so much disdain, anger evident in my eyes.
Freya's expression squeezed up as she saw how I stared at her with so much hatred, ignoring her apology. She felt like a flea up again but had to keep her cool. She had no option but to put her tongue in its bag this time around, or she would be incurring the wrath of her husband and her mother-in-law.
“I would love to invite you for a meal, Maya; please don't turn it down. It is my token of apology for what happened today; I just want to use that as a means of amending what was almost ruined,” Damien chirped in, trying to act all nice.
I could read the look in Kaiden's eyes when Damien made the offer; he was displeased by his offer and quickly wanted to dismiss the offer.
“There is no…”
“No problem, Alpha Damien, I will be there,” I stepped in, cutting the words from Kaiden.
Kaiden went silent at my action. I felt bad for shutting him up that way. I never wanted to, but I had to do that so I could keep my plans flowing. I looked into his eyes with disappointment and silence. He was disappointed in me, and that broke my heart, but I had to keep that for a better time; I would make a proper apology when we were out of there.
I went over to Dorovan and checked his body condition. After a close observation, I saw that nothing changed, the last portion I had given him was still effective. I turned to Luna Bella and instructed them on what to do.
“Keep an eye on him, queen mother. Also, damp a towel and use it to cool his body if he starts to run temperature,” I said to Luna Bella, and she nodded before mouthing her thanks. I nodded and turned to Kaiden.
Kaiden's expression read no emotion when I looked at him, he remained silent and as cold as ever. He made his way to the door when he saw that I was done with my business for the day in the room and I followed him as we both left the room.
