Chapter 74; A gift for my brother!

Just a few hours before dawn, Megan was still by her bedside. She had waited all day and night for the kids to wake up but they were still in deep sleep.

Suddenly, there was a loud explosion and the ground started shaking.

Shocked, Megan stood up and looked out through the window.

The whole island was shaking and water was invading it.

In the past, no matter how high the tide was, the water surrounding Kulan island would always land on the invisible seal as if it was landing on air, before going back into the sea. Water has never invaded Kulan island before.

The seal has been broken. What sort of storm is this? Megan wondered.

She looked at her kids who were still sleeping and was confused for a moment.

What should I do?

Just then, the door opened and Bella stepped inside.

"Megan, we need to leave now," Bella screamed in panic.

" What is going on?" Megan asked.

"I don't know. The Seal got broken. I think it's because Alice wasn't guarding it."

"Do you think Kulan will blame us?" Megan asked worriedly.

"How can she blame us? Alice attacked your kids."

"Paoh!"

Gunshots rented the air.

"What? Who dares shoot a gun on the island?"

Bella and Megan ran to the window. That was when they realized that it was more than a broken seal and flooding. It was an invasion. There were several human gunmen and vampires who didn't belong to the island, carrying guns and shooting sporadically.

"Megan," Bella grabbed her hand. "We have to leave now."

"Carry one of the kids for me please," Megan said and hurried to carry Amoux.

"Not like that. Kulan gave me the teleportation totem we got from Lykie's house. We can use it."

"The totem, it's with you?" Megan was shocked.

Ainar had told her about the totem but she never knew that Kulan was able to steal it from those people.

Excited and relieved, Megan nodded at Bella.

"Let's do it."

"Okay."

Bella quickly drew a magical circle and sprinkled her blood on it. After that, she and Megan carried the twins; one in each arms, and stepped Into the circle.

Bella started uttering a series of incantations and gradually, the circle lit up and the light submerged them…

Meanwhile, after Kulan and Kurt were captured, the news was released that the infamous and notorious Lord KuLaa, known for committing nefarious crimes against the werewolf realm was captured by the Baril authority after a tip-off that ended in the death of True Alpha Mulan Lowell of Silver Crest pack.

Lowell's family status was immediately returned and a grand burial was organized for him.

While this was going on in the outside world, Kulan and Kurt were taken to the mysterious fourth dock on Baril Island. The place popularly known as the exit to the outside world, claimed to be sealed off.

Turned out it was the hiding place of the house of Zote. They were never hiding. It was just that nobody knew their identity.

Kulan was brought before a council of elders from all the other four houses. House of Zote, Iscamon, Camel, and Light.

It turned out that the other four houses had been working together for years now, trying to complete the experiments of their forefathers.

They thought that the house of Viedanise was wiped out until they received Ainar's blood and discovered that Kulan was actually from the house of Viedanise. This was why they came after her.

"Join us." The Elders had arrogantly ordered KuLaa.

It was clear that this wasn't an invitation or a request. They were giving her no choice.

And typical of KuLaa, she refused.

That was until she was brought into a very big lab where a young girl was encapsulated in a huge tube of yellow fluid.

The moment Kulan saw her, she knew this was Fie.

"If you agree to join our ranks and let us experiment on your son and grandkids, we will gift you your other half. But if you refuse, we will feed you to her. I believe you know what that means." The Elder Zote said.

Kulan stared at Fie for a very long time. She had walked into this trap because she knew that it was the only way to get close to Fie. Now that the girl was in front of her, Kulan couldn't wait to devour her. Her eyes shone with anticipation but to the elders around her, it appeared to be arrogance and defiance.

"KuLaa, what is your choice? I do not have all day." The Elder Zote finally couldn't stand her silence again and snapped at her.

"How can someone as old as you be this ridiculous? What choices are there for me to make? What difference will accepting make? Won't I still be your prisoner?" Kulan rolled her eyes at the man.

"If you accept and willingly hand over your family to us, you will be kept in house arrest until we have established some sort of rapport while your family too will be allowed to move around as usual but under supervision. Everyone will lead their life the way they want. The only thing we will need is for them to be unfailingly available when we need them for tests or follow-up checks. This will definitely not last forever. But if you refuse, not only will we feed you to that girl, but after your death, your family will become our slaves and we will allow our people to experiment on them without restraint."

Kulan slit her eyes at the man as she envisioned different ways of killing him. The elder felt the killing intent but he didn't care. To him, Kulan was a child at the bottom of the well.

"What do you say?" He asked for the last time.

"What about my husband, where is he?"

Kulan and Kurt were separated and she knew that their separation would only aggravate his berserk mode if she didn't handle it on time.

"Kurt Lowell is ours to do as we please with. He has been our experimentation subject since he was a baby."

"I said where is he? What are you doing to him right now?" Kulan sneered.

"If you reject our request, you will never see him again."

Just then, the door to the lab beeped and it slid open.

"Father, mission two accomplished!" Jum hurried to the lab excitedly.

The Elder's face lit up.

"Really? This girl has really impressed me!" The Elder clapped.

"Where is she?"

"Father, I am here!"

Bella stepped into the lab and behind her was Megan; bruised and tied up.

She was pushed to the lab by Lao while Peruh was also dragging Amoux and Ainar from behind.

Kulaa's mouth dropped open.

"Father?... Bella, you called him father?"

Bella turned towards Kulan with her usual sweet smile.

"KuLaa, welcome to your new home. And yes, he is my father." She nodded as if everything was normal.

She called me 'KuLaa!'.

An image of Bella kneeling and saying 'My Liege.' flashed across KuLaa's mind. She instantly cleared her mind of it and focused on what was now before her.

"So, you are the mole." Kulan felt regret surge out of her.

She had swept through the realm looking for the mole while the mole was right beside her all this time.

"Why? Didn't I treat you right?"

"Don't blame yourself KuLaa. From the very first time we met, this day was fated." Bella then turned to her father. "She is a good person, father. Whatever the outcome, please treat her and her family with respect. They are really good people."

"It is up to her. " The elder shrugged.

"What about Alice? Where is she?" Kulan asked.

Bella raised her hand and a still-beating heart wrapped in a magical aura appeared.

'This is Alice. I need you to remove the enchantment on her heart. I need to refine it. It's a gift for my brother."

"You!"

Kulan lost her temper for the first time.

Alice had been with her for a very long time. Remembering how she had taken Bella in because of Alice, Kulan couldn't help but laugh in self-mockery. The way things turned out was really outrageous.

Back then, they found Bella on the roadside, half dead,—while visiting the human realm. She was going to keep walking even though Bella's weak voice was calling for help.

It was Alice, who begged her to take a look at the girl. The reason she took Bella in was because she found out she was a little witch who had her power sealed off. She unsealed it and taught her everything she knew.

Finding out now that everything was a trap she had fallen into a long time ago deflated her ego.

My carelessness killed Alice.

Standing there, Kulan slowly walked up to Bella.

"She treated you like a sister. She was the reason I took you in. Tell me, why did you kill her?"

"She was too good at her job. I needed her to be out of my way, so I hypothesized her. I needed Megan to be distracted, so I had Alice kidnap her kids."

"But why torture her like this? She was good to you."

Megan was furious after discovering that she was playing.

"I said it before, it's a gift for my brother." Bella turned to Jum and smiled. "Take brother. It's for you."

Jum smiled sweetly at his sister and took the beating heart from her. They were behaving as if Kulan and everyone else were invisible.

Jum had specifically asked for Alice's Heart during their last interaction. Bella saw the chance and took it.

"You?"

Enraged, Kulan tried to attack Bella but Elder Zote lifted his hand, dark energy, synonymous with dark magic, flew out of his hand and landed on KuLaa.

Instantly, she was sent flying. She crashed against a wall and the wall got dented.

When Kulan hit the ground, she huffed.

I thought I had everything within my grasp. I have overestimated myself. I am no match for this Elder at all.

Decidedly, she looked up and said to the Elder.

"Let's begin."

Everyone around them was shocked.

Elder Zote smiled and nodded in approval of KuLaa's decisiveness.

"You made a good choice."

The elder then turned to Jum. "Tell the others that Lord Kulan of the house of Viedanise has joined our ranks. We are now complete.

Also, activate all the necessary plans we have laid down for her arrival."

"Yes, Father." Jum nodded.

Once Jum left with Megan and the twins, the elder opened a huge tube, identical to the one Fie was in.

"Step inside."

Kulan nodded and stepped into the tube.

The elder closed it and turned some buttons on a panel.

Yellow water started filling up the tube.

"You will be there for twenty-one days. After that, you shall devour your other half. Your experimentation has started."

Kulan nodded and closed her eyes, intentionally making herself hibernate.

21 days later. The lab was filled up with people.

Kurt, Oliver, Megan, and the twins were also there.

Some men in white coats went behind a huge panel and started pressing buttons and lifting levers.

Soon, the two huge tubes lit up and the bodies of Kulan and Fie appeared. They were like a fetus in the womb.

Then the yellow water started draining after which Kulan opened her eyes.

When she saw Megan, the twins, and Kurt all looking good, her worries subsided a little.

Before Kulan left Mayel, Madam Su wasn't able to find a way to unseal Adolph's treasure Antique but she taught her teleportation spell that would bring her back to Mayel with just a thought.

Kulaa's original plan was to exchange herself for Oliver if his captors turned out to be the house of Zote.

What she never expected was the involvement of human which led to Kurt going berserk again.

Then Megan and her twins were also brought in by Bella. Making all of Kulaa's plans go up in flames.

Since her plan was to be caught, she went ahead to get caught because of Kurt who was already entrapped by the berserk net.

Before Megan and her kids appeared, she was planning to join the ranks and then start ruining them from the inside out. It would take a few years and she was ready to spend it because she thought she and Kurt would be the only ones in danger. And they could leave any time they wanted.

But now, Kulan must find a way to get her family out of this place as soon as possible. After that, she would go into hiding in Mayel.

She can gamble with anything except her grandkids. They were the love of her life… After Kurt of course.

But first, she must devour Fie.
