Chapter 72; Chaos on the street of Baril.

It reached right into her soul, caressing it and trying to make her relax.

Instantly realizing that she was being coaxed, Kulan repelled the spell and glared at Jum.

"What do you think you are doing?" She groaned.

"Not bad." Jum smiled and walked into the room proper.

"My name is Jum and these are my friends, Lao and Peruh. We are from the house of Zote."

Kulan looked them over and her eyes blazed. She has not seen such arrogance in a long time.

"I have never had dealings with anyone from the house of Zote. Why did you target my family?"

"You are wrong, Lord Kulan of the house of Viedanise!" Jum smiled at her but Kulan had already sensed the uncertainty in his tone.

So he isn't sure of my identity.

"What is the house of Viedanise?" She feigned confusion.

Jum gave her a look over and his ever-present smile widened.

Was he wrong? She didn't know?

"The House of Viedanise is one of the five magical families of Eplica. And you, Lord KuLaa, are the last of them."

" I don't know what you mean by that and I don't care."

"You should, Lord KuLaa. The safety of the world depends on it."

Kulan rolled her eyes and scoffed. If Madman Su hadn't told her about this or if they hadn't used underhanded means to get to her, she would have probably fallen for this.

"What do you want from my son?"

"That was just to lure you out, Lord KuLaa. What we want is your family.

Four of the five houses have gathered again to resume the experiments that failed eons ago. Without the magic of the Viedanise, things have been arduous and slow.

Lord KuLaa, Eplica needs you. Not just you but everyone in your family."

Jum placed his palms together and took a bow. "Please, do not refuse us."

There was silence in the room as Kulan and Kurt watched this ridiculous performance from Jum. Kulan didn't know whether she should laugh or cry.

"If it was just an invitation, then, why can't I feel the life force of my shadows again?" She slit her eye at Jum. Wondering how he would handle her question.

He flicked his nose and twitched his lips.

"These stupid boys have really gone overboard. It's too late now to regret it. I will just act shameless." Jum mumbled to himself. The funny thing was, that everyone could hear him.

Lao and Peruh tried to suppress their chuckle but they failed.

Kulan and Kurt looked at each other. They were puzzled at the guy's behavior.

"He is a lunatic. We have to be careful." Kurt transmitted to KuLaa. He could see in Jum, his own previous berserk symptoms.

While Jim was always smiling and looking mischievous, Kurt was always looking grimy and angry. Their symptoms were polar opposites but not normal.

"I apologize in arrears, Lord KuLaa. My boys were bloodthirsty just now. I will compensate you later."

"Is this how the house of Zote operates? They kill and ask questions later?"

"Pretty much." Jum shrugged with a chuckle.

Kulan observed him for beats and then scoffed inwardly.

"What if I say no?"

The smile on Jum's face disappeared and he gave Kulan a stern look.

"Nobody says 'No' to Jum!"

Kulan scoffed again and lifted her hands. Magical energy started gathering as she channeled them through her body.

"Show me."

Jum smiled and started channeling magical energy too. He had wanted to do this for so long.

Soon, with one incantation after another, Kulan and Jum clashed repeatedly but they couldn't harm each other.

But the same couldn't be said for the resort and the streets of Baril.

While at it, they destroyed the resort and people had to leave in panic. When the resort was in total ruin, they moved to the more open streets and soon buildings were crumbling and burning.

Baril descended into chaos.

There was pandemonium and a lot of people were shocked. Who could have the guts to start a fight in Baril?

More than the three realms, Baril was the most peaceful place on the continent, and public unrest was prohibited.

Why would Kulan start such a grand fight in such a place?

Kurt frowned as he watched her fight; flying, disappearing, and reappearing.

He was so absorbed in the fight that he didn't notice when his father moved close to him and touched him.

After Adolph died, human was brought away and was held in prison. Members of the Lowell family and Silver Crest entered the black book of the coven and a bounty was placed on Kurt's head.

Just a few weeks ago, human was told to leave. Having worked for the coven all his life, he knew something was amiss. He first thought they wanted to use him to bait Kurt. Therefore, instead of looking for his son, he went into hiding. That was until he heard that Kurt had been spotted in the human realm with Kulan and Oliver was kidnapped.

He decided to dig further, using his friends in the coven. That was when he discovered that the ransom for Oliver's release was Ryan and that Ryan was Kurt and KuLaa's son.

Mulan was initially happy about it but when he remembered that Adolph had died because of Kulan and that his life was ruined due to this, he became bitter again.

That was why when Kurt contacted him two days ago, he decided to reinstate his status by handing over Ryan to the coven. He contacted them and made a deal. The deal was to help them lure Kulan out so they could capture her. He was also able to bargain for his son's life. As long as they capture Kulan alive, Kurt's life would be spared.

human planned to start a fight. The authorities would interfere and once everyone was arrested, Kulan would be done for. But to his shock, Jum, a high official of the coven and a terrifying wizard, appeared at the scene. Not only that, Kulan started the fight. All human had to do now was get his son out of there…

Mulan cautiously brought out a magic-blocking amulet and suddenly jumped on Kurt from behind. He wrapped his arms around Kurt and slammed the amulet on Kurt's heart.

As long as the amulet stays on the chest of a supernatural being for a minute, their magic would be sealed for three days.

"Watch out!"

KuLaa, who was busy fighting in the air transmitted to Kurt, and in the nick of time, he released his claws, turned, and struck human in the chest. This hit sent human flying.

"Dad!" Kurt was shocked when he saw that it was his dad. If he had to withdraw some of his strength just now, the Al. Would have died instantly.

"I am so sorry. I…"

He then saw the amulet in his father's hand and his gaze darkened.

"What were you going to do just now? Did you want to seal my magic? Dad? You want to capture me for the house or Zote?"

Mulan had fallen hard and his ribs were broken. But being a powerful werewolf himself, he was healing up within seconds.

"Son, listen. I have made a deal with them. As long as they can get KuLaa, our family will be pardoned."

Mulan tried to explain.

"I thought we had an agreement, Dad? Why are you making this difficult?" Kurt was exasperated.

Seeing the anger in Kurt's eyes, Mulan knew he was furious. He also wanted to lose his temper and fight this unyielding son of his but Kurt was a supreme Alpha while he, human was just a True Alpha. He knew that he was no match for Kurt.

"Son, Listen, you need to leave. That is why I did it. I know you wouldn't want to leave her behind out if you don't, you will also die. This meeting was a trap. The whole place is already locked down. She can't escape even if she wants to. But you can. I already made a deal for you. Please just be unreasonable and follow me."

The more Mulan talked, the angrier Kurt got. He quickly transmitted MuLan's words to Kulan who wasn't a bit surprised.

"I know. That is why I started the fight. I am not going down without a fight. If they must capture me, it must cost them something. You should do as your father said. Leave. I have everything under control." She transmitted back.

"No!" Kurt shook his head. "I will not leave you behind."

"Listen to me, hubby, this fight is beyond your scope. You will only be in my way. You need to leave so I can focus."

Thinking about what Kulan just said, Kurt nodded and turned to his father.

"Lead the way."

Mulan was pleasantly surprised.

"This way."

He brought out another amulet and started leaving in a specific direction.

"Ahh, it's good that you still have your wits around you. I thought that witch had taken over all of your brain cells."

Mulan was relieved and happy while behind him, Kurt's rage kept building up.

They left the ruins of the resort and went through some alleys until they got to the mouth of an underground tunnel.

Meanwhile, the further away they got from KuLaa, the darker his thoughts grew until he started showing signs of going berserk again. Kurt tried to control his emotions but soon his mind was taken over by the thought that he was going to lose KuLaa's gain and the man in front of him was to be blamed.

Once Kurt's heart demon returned, the fact that Mulan was his father stopped being relevant. The only thought in his mind was that Mulan was responsible for KuLaa's problems.

Because of him, I am going to lose her again!

"MuLan?" Kurt whispered.

When human heard his name being called in that manner, his heart went cold. Kurt's voice was infused with magic and it was compelling MuLan. Being a powerful True Alpha himself, he tried to break the spell but he couldn't. His body shivered as his wolf submitted.

"Why are you bent on ruining my life? Why don't you know when to stop? You actually dared to hand over my wife, Son, and grand kids to the house of Zotes for your freedom? You have guts."

Instinctively, human turned to his wolf and quickly lay on the ground with his tail tucked between his legs and his mouth releasing nervous whimpers of submission and terror.

Kurt was too angry. He released his claws once again for that night and in one swift move, MuLan's head flew off his neck.

Kurt howled with great fury. He then turned to his wolf and started attacking Mulan's body. He kept tearing him apart until there was nothing left of him that was bigger than a handful of meat chunks.

Once he was done, he turned around and raced back to the fighting scene. When he got there, he saw that Lao and Peruh had joined in the fight. And to his chagrin, Kulan was bleeding. Kurt howled again then charged at Lao who was the closest to him.

When Kulan saw Kurt who had gone berserk again, she signed in sadness. This was what she feared the most. But unfortunately, it was never put into the equation when they were making plans.

Everything was going wrong.

Any wolf who has gone berserk before will always be susceptible to it. That was why she wanted him to leave so that they wouldn't have an excuse to kill him instantly. But apparently, Kurt loved her too much and the idea of her being in trouble would always be his Achilles heels.

I have to protect him, also they will kill him.

Kulan started directing her fight towards Kurt but Jum noticed and laughed out like a maniac.

"Hahaha, your lover is a madman"It takes one to know one." Kulan snapped back.

"So you can tell. Hahahaha!"

"Time for fun is over. Now, will you surrender willingly or do I have to kill him first?" Jum asked with a smirk. "Berserks are not allowed on the streets of Baril, you know."

Just then, a net appeared out of thin air. It's a magical net used in subduing berserks. No matter how powerful a berserker is, once the net descends on them, they will be overpowered.

"Noo! Kurt, look out?" Kulan tried to communicate with Kurt but his mind was in a mess and she couldn't get to him no matter what.

At this point, Kulan started regretting asking Kurt to leave.

If he had stayed, if he had his eyes on me at all times, this wouldn't have happened.

She kept blaming herself as she withdrew her magic and ran over to him.

"Kurt, don't fight it. Stop fighting. I am here. I am fine!"

Kulan touched the net and tried to channel her magic to Kurt, hoping that he would recognize her aura and calm down.
