Chapter 66: Fie.
He looked around and saw that the crew was going through a similar thing.
Kurt relaxed and smiled. "Stop trying to hurry up. Madam Su doesn't want to meet us yet. That is why this is happening." He explained to the crew.
Instantly, everybody relaxed and started walking at a normal pace.
Gradually, the pressure on their bodies disappeared and they started feeling light. They had no choice but to approach slowly as they watched Kulan talking animatedly to the air.
"It sure did, Madam Su. Now that I have brought him back, can we enter?" Kulan asked worriedly.
"Of course, child. I have been waiting all this time."
Madam Su looked towards the approaching crew curiously. "The young man beside your husband, he has your aura and resents you.
"Is it normal?" Kulan chuckled. "I have not been a good mother."
Madam Su's eyes widened in surprise.
"He is your son?"
"Yes. His name is Ryan."
"You have a son? Why didn't you bring him here as a baby?" Madam Su snapped at Kulan angrily.
"I came here with his pregnancy but you sent me back, remember."
"You were already pregnant back then? I didn't sense it. How come?"
Madam Su appeared shocked.
"Maybe because I was wearing my mother's concealing totem. She told me she wore it to hide my pregnancy so when I got pregnant, I wore it too."
Kulan explained.
"That must be the reason. But you should have told me. I would have let you stay till you give birth at least. There are so many things we could have done to make him a strong man." Madam Su was filled with regret.
"Well, he is here now."
"It's too late. Those rituals can only work with newborns." Madam Su waved her off. "Settle your guests in first, then bring your family to see me later." After saying that, Madam Su started dissolving Into thin air.
By then, the crew was close to KuLaa.
Kulan turned to them and smiled at Kurt. "That was Madam Su."
"I know. Is she gone? Is she angry with me?" He asked worriedly.
"Why will she be angry with you?"
"Well, she didn't wait to see me." Kurt frowned.
He was displeased that he didn't get to see Madam Su.
"She will see us this evening."
"Okay then, let's go in."
Kurt took KuLaa's hand again and they all walked through the gate of Mayel.
Before them was a stretch of tarred road that disappeared into the distant hills. On both sides of it were thick patches of forest or small bushes.
The attractive thing about these patches of forest and bushes were the roofings of abandoned houses, peaking out at the top of the trees and tall weeds.
"We must hurry. Stay close to me and keep your fears buried in your hearts." Kulan reminded her crew.
She then cast a movement spell that covered all of them. At her order, they all started running and soon turned blurry due to the high speed.
They were so fast, they became invisible to the naked eye.
Kulan took her crew to a very big villa deep within Mayel. This villa was surrounded by forestry and cut off from other buildings within the town.
When they got there, they saw the place looking neat as if someone was living there.
On arrival, Kulan cast a spell on the eyes of her crew and they were able to see that there were indeed ghosts who were taking care of the villa.
Thanks to the spell, they were able to interact with the ghosts after their initial shock. Kurt explained to them that Mayel was indeed a ghost town and very friendly as long as one could see and interact with them, the crew relaxed.
After everyone settled in, Kulan brought Kurt and Ryan to a secret room where they accessed a tunnel that led to a dead-end through teleportation magic.
Wondering if the magic had malfunctioned, Kulan stopped and frowned. This had never happened before…
"This is the tomb of the Turakies of the house of Viedanise. The outside world thought that they vanished but the truth is that we are in hiding, sleeping while we wait for the fated ones." Madam Su's voice suddenly vibrated through the tunnel.
Kulan and her family darted their eyes around but saw no one. They couldn't even tell where the voice was coming from.
"Madam Su?" Kulan called out.
"You can come in."
Kulan had used the teleportation magic several times in the past but it had never brought her to this tunnel. Kilan was curious. She couldn't help but wonder if there were other places she had yet to see.
Suddenly, everywhere started vibrating and the wall before them started sliding into the ground. As it gradually sank, what appeared before the family of three was a very large hall filled with caskets piled one atop the other, reaching to the high ceiling of the hall.
Kulan grew up in Mayel but she had never been to this place. In her heart, she wondered if her parents knew of it.
After the wall completely entered the ground, Kulan and her family stepped into the gloomy tomb and found a huge throne seat with the body of Madam Su. She was now just bones and a dried-out and shrunken heart.
"Madam, Su?" Kulan whispered.
"Yes, that is my real body."
Madam Su suddenly materialized beside KuLaa, making Ryan jumpy.
She suddenly turned to Ryan and glared at him. "Son, you should do away with your resentment. It sinks the air."
Ryan was taken by surprise and confused. But when his eye met KuLaa's, he suddenly understood and frowned.
Kulan rolled her eyes and smiled at Madam Su. "Leave him be Madam Su. He is just a child.
"In that case, I will let him be."
Madam Su started moving towards the high seats.
"Now that your second half has appeared, it's time for you to know the whole truth, fated one."
"Fated one? Who is the fated one Madam Su and what is the second half?" Kulan asked.
Madam Su gestured for all of them to sit down before she started explaining.
"It's a long story but for you to understand what lies ahead of you, it must be told in its totality. So listen very carefully, Lord Kulan of the house of Viedanise." Madam Su started.
Kulan and Kurt were shocked by this address. They looked at each other with widened eyes.
"Of the house of Viedanise?" I don't understand." Kulan stuttered.
"Why else did you think I allowed you to see me? It is because your father had the blood of Viedanise. He was from the descendants of our bastards that were lucky to survive and go Into hiding after they were targeted by the public back then."
"I see." Kulan nodded. She had heard a little of this story from her mother when she was young.
"When I took your father in, I had no idea he had a vampire spouse. When your mother arrived heavily pregnant, I was shocked and happy. It was then that I felt that maybe we have hope for the future.
To be able to produce a vampire that is also a witch, I had to guide your father into refining your heart's blood and infusing it with magic. Not just your heart's blood but every major organ used in channeling magic like veins and marrow.
It was a difficult ordeal for you as a fetus as there was the risk of death. But the person who suffered the most was your mother.
But thanks to the Moon Mother, we succeeded and you came out just fine.
"What about the second half you spoke about? Do I have a twin?"
"No. You are an only child. The second half of you is a werewolf witch."
"Such a thing exists?" Ryan and Kurt gasped while Kulan seemed to have understood something.
"Are you talking about Fie, the witch that was captured here some months back?" She asked Madam Su.
"Have you heard of her?" Madam Su asked.
"She is the reason we are here. Since I heard that she came here but was captured, I decided to come and take a look."
"Oh, so if not for her, I might never see you again?" Madam Su frowned. She was displeased at KuLaa's words.
"You misunderstood, Madam Su. Kurt and I just got back together less than a year ago. Within that space of time, we have been involved in a war of Lords. There was simply no time to make the journey." She explained.
"You are here now anyway, let's not duel in the past." Madam Su waved her hand casually.
She sat down on a seat close to her skeleton.
"Who are the people who came to capture her? How come they could enter Mayel?"
"I let them in."
"Why? If she is my other half, then why didn't you protect her?" Kulan was confused.
"Because she is an enemy. Even though she is your other half, the two of you can not coexist. One must devour the other."
"Wow!" Kulan exclaimed. Ryan and Kurt were also shocked.
"It's the only way to become whole and stronger." Madam Su continued.
"Son," Madam Su turned to Kurt.
"Yes, Ma'am." He answered with a smile.
"What do you know of your wizard's family?"
"Adolph?"
"Yes."
Kurt thought about it for a bit but shook his head in the negative. "Nothing, I know nothing about his family Madam Su. I am not sure he even had one."
"Too bad." Madam Su huffed. She seemed a little sad.
"Why did you ask, Madam Su?" Kulan asked.
"That Fie witch and Adolph are from the same bloodline."
"What? How come?" Kurt exclaimed.
"You have to find out about his family. The people who came to capture that girl are also from there.
Your mission this time is to capture her and bring her back. Once you bring her back, I will help you devour her so that you can become stronger and totally transform."
"Transform to what?" Kulan and Kurt asked at the same time.
"A true Turakie."
"That is possible?"
"Yes. She came here looking for something. I am guessing that Adolph revealed your secret to his family and they sent her here to take a look. But when she couldn't find you, she also refused to go back home so they forced her to go back."
"Wow."
"You must get her before she gets you." Madam Su repeated solemnly.
"Adolph's bloodline, are they part of the five families?" Kurt asked.
"Yes. They were known as the house of Zote and the reason our world was plunged into darkness. They are the scorn that must be eradicated. I thought we killed them all but apparently, some of them survived."
At this point, Kulan and Kurt were lost.
"That brings us to the story I have to tell you. It's about the origin of the Turakies."
Kurt and Kulan nodded as they prepared to listen to their old teacher.
"Remember I told you in the past that this world is just a pocket world created by the Moon Goddess."
"Yes, Madam Su." They both replied.
"In the world outside this world, there are many other worlds. But from the beginning of time, there were only two creatures. The mortals and the magical beasts.
The world outside this world is a cultivation world where one can cultivate magic until they become gods and goddesses. That is how our Moon Goddess came to be."
"So she was once human?" KuLaa's eyes shone excitedly. Could she also become a goddess one day?
"Yes. The Moon Goddess was once human but when she cultivated to the point of becoming a God, she fell in love with a magical beast which happened to be a wolf. When they started having children, she gave birth to babies with the attributes of a mortal and a wolf. This was how the Turakies came to be.
