Chapter 62: A Luna's Submission.

For several seconds, only the chirping of birds coming from the garden could be heard in the room.

Finally, Kulan swept her gaze at them and scoffed.

"What do you want?"

Instantly, the two kids went on their knees with their heads touching the ground just like their mother had instructed them to.

"My Liege, I brought the kids to apologize for their wrongdoings. Please forgive, My Liege." Megan said in a solemn voice.

"Mother, please!" Ryan stepped forward with pleading eyes.

"What makes you think that I am angry with your kids?" Kulan asked.

Megan and Ryan were suddenly confused. If Kulan wasn't angry with the kids, then why all the fuss?

"Grandma…"

Ainar raised her head up but before she could continue, an invisible and heavy weight suddenly descended on her and pressed her to the ground.

The flooring under her knees cracked and her already pale skin turned red under it.

"Ainar!"

Scared out of her brain, Megan screamed, went on her knees, and covered the girl with her body. This way, she was able to bear the weight for her.

Seeing this, Kulan snorted and increased the pressure and it was Megan's turn to sink into the ground and turn red. Despite engaging all her spiritual strength to bear the pressure, Megan soon started shivering and then she vomited blood. Yet, she at he'd her back up so that Ainar could stay uncrushed under her.

On the side, Ryan stood silently, observing everything. The pain in his heart wasn't reflected on his face but his fists were clenched and his nails were digging into his skin, drawing blood.

"My Liege, please show mercy." Megan groaned as her vision started going blurry.

"Ainar is your granddaughter, are you really going to go this far with a child just because she threw a tantrum?" Ryan snapped in rage.

It was true that Megan asked him not to interfere between her and his mother but she didn't say anything about the kids. From his understanding, the grudge was between Mega and KuLaa, so why attack Ainar? Ryan couldn't take it.

Kulan snarled at Ryan disdainfully. She has always found it hard to look at him with pride because he was submissive to his wife.

She couldn't figure out whether the submission was out of love or because of the supernatural bond between them. And that made her feel uncomfortable.

Was her son a slave to the Moon Mother's magic or truly in love?

She was even tempted to separate them and have Ryan sleep with all the female vampires in her crew under compulsion.

The only reason she held back was because of how Alaric died. If not that his death was caused by Kurt, she would have forced them to break their bond and have him impregnate her female vampires.

Therefore, Kulan has always seen Ryan as someone under a spell. A spell she can break but shouldn't break. It was very upsetting.

I should have another child now that I am back with my husband. This one is useless. Kulan mused as she pulled her nose at Ryan.

"Are you saying I do not have the right to discipline my grandchildren?" She sneered.

"No. But I think this is overboard. Look at her. She will faint any time Mother."

Ryan refused to back down even though he saw the disdain in his mother's eyes and knew exactly why it was there.

"Amoux," Kulan turned to the young man who was kneeling quietly beside his groaning mother. "Why is your sister getting punished?" Kulan asked.

"She called you Grandma," Amoux replied with a hard face.

Amoux was worried about Ainar but there was nothing he could do. He kept telling himself that she deserved the punishment and should learn from it.

First, their mother had instructed them to apologize to Alice after they disrespected her that day but Ainar refused to go. He had to render an apology for both of them.

After that, Ainar refused to acknowledge Alice and was always badmouthing her.

Another thing was that Ainar wouldn't stop addressing Kulan as 'My Grandma' to everyone. Bella had warned her several times to stop saying that as it might incur KuLaa's wrath but Ainar refused to conform.

Therefore, when Kulan attacked her, Amoux wasn't surprised. Ainar had it coming.

"Did you hear that?" Kulan glared at Ryan. "Your kids are grown but unruly. They lack courtesy and put arrogance on display flamboyantly.

You and your wife let them do as they like without trying to caution them, Yet when they get punished for it, you stand on guard, protecting them.

What sort of parenting is this?" Kulan snorted.

"I even heard that they are now so bold that they dare to threaten the life of my first commander. The vampire who guarded their lives and trained them in combat. This is enough to have them killed!" Kulan stood up and the room's temptation dropped completely.

Megan and her two kids started shivering and every hairy place on their body froze up into spikes.

At this point, Ainar, who was already too scared from KuLaa's previous display, couldn't take it anymore and fainted in Megan's arms.

Seeing this, Ryan got scared and he quickly dropped to his knees.

"Mother!"

Ryan's eyes twitched on hearing his mother's words and display of anger.

To be candid, the kids were spoiled because Kulan spoiled them. How was that his fault?

"Since you lack the ability to be a good father and husband, why don't you stand aside as you have always been doing?"

"Mother!"

"I am "your Liege!"

Kulan snapped and the pressure bearing down on Megan moved and landed on Ryan. Instantly, his already-bent knees sank into the ground.

He spurted blood and trembled in shock. He didn't see it coming at all.

"My Liege!!"

Megan crawled forward in panic.

"Please, I submit. From now on, I will follow you without questions. Please, stop it!" Megan cried out.

"You want to stop me from punishing my son too?" KuLaa's voice was laced with ridicule.

"I dare not, my Liege. I dare not!" Megan whimpered as she was devoid of strength. Bearing that weight took all of her strength.

Kulan glared at them for some time before the purple in her eyes receded and the pressure disappeared.

After taking off the pressure, Kulan remained silent for a very long time. She was deep in thought and the people on the ground did their best not to make any noise that could disturb her.

They knew that she was presently deciding their future.

After a while, Kulan wrapped her right palm around a small golden kettle on the table and it started steaming. After that, she picked it up and poured herself a cup of tea.

She sipped the tea a couple of times then turned to look outside her window.

The night was approaching and the grounds would soon be bustling. Kulan signed and put the teacup down.

"Rise." She muttered.

"Thank you My Liege." Megan's voice trembled as she stood up with her family.

Amoux was terribly shaken by the sudden torture his father went through while Ainar was still unconscious in Megan's hands. It was Megan who made sure she stayed asleep.

Ryan had since healed himself and quickly wiped off the blood on his face once Kulan asked them to stand up.

"You were right," Kulan said to Megan, whose head was bent.

"Bleeding the kids and storing them away is a bad idea. Especially during a time like this when their identity has been compromised."

Kulan paused and observed to see if Megan would have any reaction but none came.

Megan was just standing there like a pole.

Kulan nodded with contentment. This was what she wanted. A Megan who stays quiet unless she is spoken to or asked to speak.

"Just like you previously insisted, You and the kids will stay on the island. Bella will help you in guarding them while Alice will be your shadow." Kulan continued but at this point, she paused again and observed Megan.

In the past, at the mention of Alice's name, Megan would flare up and make demands. Even though Kulan always ignored these, she has always found this action annoying.

When she saw that Megan was not reacting at all, she was satisfied.

"Do you have any objections?" She intentionally asked to see if Megan would take the bait but to her surprise, Megan only deepened her bow and muttered, "No objections, my Liege."

"Good. You can leave." Kulan said and picked up her teacup again.

Ryan slowly took Ainar from Megan and whispered to Amoux.

"Hold your mother."

Nodding, Amoux picked his mother's hand and the family quietly left KuLaa's room.

Just as the exit door clicked shut, the other door opened and Kurt stepped in with a grime face.

"That was very harsh." He reprimanded KuLaa.

She rolled her eyes at him and drank the last bit of tea in a cup. After that, she started warming the small kettle again.

"Would you like some tea, my love?" Yukata asked Kurt with a sweet smile that made his heart leap in his throat.

Kurt tsked in disapproval, then sat on the empty seat beside her.

"You shouldn't let this drag on for long. It will be counterproductive."

Kurt took the kettle from KuLaa's hand and started pouring the tea for the two of them.

At his words, Kulan shrugged casually and leaned on Kurt's shoulder. He wrapped his free hand around her back and picked the tea cup with the other. After taking a few sips, he placed the cup down and huffed.

He wanted to say more but knowing KuLaa, her silence meant that she didn't want to talk about it. So he drank his tea and kept his words to himself.

When she is ready, we will talk. He mused inwardly.

And truly, that night, while the couple was playing a game of chess, Kulan opened up.

"To be honest, I didn't want them to apologize." She suddenly muttered after making a move on the chessboard.

"Why?"

"I want them to leave in anger. That way, I will be able to do things with a clear conscience."

There was silence as she waited for Kurt to make his next move. Once he did, he looked up curiously.

"What do you want to do that requires your conscience? Do you even have one?" Kurt chuckled slightly.

Kulan sniggered. "Of course, I have one. I just like ignoring it." She pouted cutely.

"Tell me what you would have done." Kurt suddenly got serious.

"If they were not family, what would we have done to them after capturing them?"

Kurt's eyes widened in shock. "What? KuLaa, Ryan is our son!"

"So what?" She shrugged. "He hates us. You for killing his father-in-law and me, for dealing with his wife. He is an ungrateful slave who doesn't know his place. What sort of son is that? I would rather make another baby."

Kulan was getting upset the more she thought of Ryan's situation and that only made her disapprove of Megan the more.

Kurt took her hand and rubbed it gently. "If you want another baby, we can always try but that doesn't mean you should kill your own son, KuLaa. There is no sin greater than this."

"Who says I wanted to kill him?" Kulan frowned.

"Well, if they were not family, that is what I would have done. I would have devoured their hearts and kept their kids as blood banks." Kurt said.

"That's a waste of resources." Kulan shook her head in disapproval.

"What would you have done?"

"I will wipe out the kids' memories and adopt them as my kids. I will enslave their parents and turn them into breeders for my crew and household.

Imagine how powerful the children from Ryan would be. And with Megan, I would be able to produce even more Turakies."

A longing look came Into KuLaa's eyes. She huffed and made a move. There was no use thinking about what could have been.

Another moment of silence reigned as the couple focused on the game and their separate thoughts.

Then Kurt smirked and made a move.

Kulan saw through the move and made a countermove with a smug face.

Seeing this, Kurt rolled his eyes and huffed exasperatedly.

"With the way things are going, we will never finish this game."

"Then you should give in to your wife!" Kulan pouted coquettishly.

"No way! Not this time." Kurt stubbornly made another move.

"Then we will keep playing for eternity." Kulan smacked her lips gleefully and also made her move, running Kurt into a deadlock.

"You this witch!" He yelled the moment he saw it. "You used magic again." He accused Kulan and tried to pounce on her.
