Chapter 34

Annur's POV:

I make my way with Hatina to see Hani, and when we're done we'll see Alex too.

I don't know why, but I don't usually care before, but now that Hatina is in my life she has changed me, she has made me believe in Allah, love, good heart, kindness, every single good thing. She's like an angel sent from above to guide me and I'm thankful to Allah for bringing her to me. Even my profanities has reduced a lot.

I remember when I was still with Hani and had some problems, what she usually does was to take me to a bar, get drunk, flirt with girls and other haram things, but now that Hatina in my life things are the opposite. Whenever I have a problem I go to Allah straight forward and believe in him because he is the one and only true God.

We wait for some minutes for them to bring Hani, while we wait. "Hello, my darling, I see you've come to see me." She says, but when she glances at Hatina she freezes.

"What is she doing here? How... Is.." She stutter.

"She came with me of course, what did you expect?" I ask.

"If you think I'm going to apologize or something, then get the hell out cause I ain't sorry." She says still standing.

"I'm not here for you to say sorry, I don't even care." I tell her. "Then why are you here?" She asks.

"I'm here to tell you that..." She cuts me off. I hate it.

"Look Annur, I loved you deeply but now I see that I was just a fool to you, you never felt the same way, that's why you never told your parents about me. I was never good enough for you," She says broken.

Hani is right, this is my fault and if I hadn't made her believed we were serious, all these couldn't have happened.

"And I'm sorry for that, yes it’s my fault." I say and I quickly shut up as Hani widens her eyes.

Oh my God I can't believe I actually accepted something for the first time in my life.

"Did you just say it’s your fault? what has she done to you?" She says looking at Hatina and Hatina smiles.

"Yes I just said it. I shouldn't have made you feel that way and when I knew I was getting married, I neglected you which I shouldn't have done and I'm sorry." I add.

I'm the one apologizing now.

"Look I just want to clear things here. Hatina has made me realize there is good in everyone, she forgives you although it was a hard thing, but if she does, I do too and I'm not saying you should apologize." I tell her.

"Good because I was never going to, I don't regret whatever I've done. You two are pathetic." She says looking at Hatina.

"I wish you and that baby had just died," She says with much hatred to Hatina and her face changes.

"You know why we didn't die? Because we're not like you, we're better than you that's why we still see good in you, I forgive you, its left for Allah." Hatina says while Hani and I stare surprised at her words.

She is fierce.

"I do not care whatever you say, just one thing I'll say. Mind your own damn business and don't come back here." She says and I stand up holding Hatina with me to leave.

"I wish you change of heart and Allah's forgiveness," I say and then we leave.

I feel better after clearing things up, but Hani didn't do the same. I don't understand why some people can be this heartless.

"You were brave in there," I say as we go to see Alex. "Thank you." She says.

We see Alex and he is really happy to see us. I feel bad for the poor boy to have been buried under Hani's nails but now he's come back to his senses.

Hatina talked to him and he asked for forgiveness, which we forgave him. He was so happy when he saw Hatina and her condition and wished her safe delivery, at least one person here accepts their crime.

We found a way to reduce Alex sentence to just a few years that he is charged for.

"So are we done here?" I ask Hatina.

"Yes we are. Thank you for coming with me Annur," She says. "Hey what happened to 'my love'," I correct her and she laughs. "Okay, 'my love." She corrects.

"I should be the one thanking you Hatina, you changed me and I'm happy that you're in my life." I say hugging her before we start going to the car when she stops.

"What's wrong?" I ask her.

"Nothing just that I feel uncomfortable," She says.

"It’s because we've been here for long and you're tired," I say. "Yes maybe." She says and we start moving, when she stops again. "Annur, my back hurts," she alerts me.

"Let me carry you," I offer to which she declines.

"No I..." She starts saying when we hear the sound of water dripping. "Ya Allah, Annur my water has broken." She says.

"Oh my God, here?" I say putting her hands on my shoulder and the other at her waist. She's in labor. But the doctor said in a few weeks. This is early.

"Ahh Annur," She yells in pain. Oh no.

"Don't worry we're going to the hospital now." I say getting into the car and I drive fast, but not too fast because of the baby.

"Ya Allah!" She yells as she grabs my arm and hold it tightly with the other hand grabbing the chair.

"I'm sorry Hatina, we'll he there soon." I say.

"Just get me to the hospital!" She yells. We arrive at the hospital and I get out sharply taking her out of the car and start calling for help.

"Sir stay back we'll get her in " The Nurse says.

"No I want him with me!" Hatina tells them and they let me in. I watch as they prepare for the delivery taking out their forceps, speculum, scissors and other equipment.

I still watch as Hatina screams as they start the process. I can’t watch anymore as I wany to go out when she yells at me.

"Where are you going!" She yells.

"I can't watch you in pain," I say.

"What! You're going to stay here, you did this to me so you have to stay and watch. When next you tell me you want another child, you'll see this." She yells, making me recall I'm the one who suggested this in the first place.

"I'm sorry, okay I'll stay." I say going back to hold her hands in mine. What has happened to my Hatina?

They quickly changed her dress as I watched her sweating profusely, turning here and there and I can only tell it is painful.

They start the delivery, as I watch as she screams pushing hard, but it is of no avail. No baby.

What's going on?

"Mr. Abubakar, can I talk to you?" The doctor in charge asks. "what is it?" I ask.

"I'm afraid we'll have to carry out a CS operation on her," The doctor says making my jaw clench.

"What's the problem?" I ask.

"From what you can tell here, the baby came early and given her past experience it would be a miracle if that baby survives through without a CS," He tells me.

Not this again.

"But we did scans and they didn't tell us this," I tell the doctor. "It's happens Mr. Abubakar," Is all he tells me and I sigh.

"Is there no other option?" I ask.

"I'm sorry no, we're afraid if she doesn't have the strength to push anymore we might lose her or the baby," The doctor says.

"Okay fine, let me tell her first." I say.

I tell Hatina and she becomes worried but then looked at me sternly. "No, I'm not having a CS, I can do it, Allah will give me the strength." She says.

"Hatina please don't be stubborn, this is not the time." I say. "I'm not being stubborn, that's my decision." She says.

"But what if..." She cut me off.

"Nothing will happen InshaAllah. Please have faith. Have faith in me. There is also a chance our baby might not survive even with the CS, please trust me. I don't want to go through it, I can do it, we can do it inshaAllah. " she tries to convince me.

She asks me to believe in her so that's what I'm doing. I'm going to have faith in Allah.

I say okay and tell the doctor our decision and they continue the delivery. Though he did warn me again, but it is our decision not theirs.

I watch as she push hard, yelling and grabbing my shirt roughly in pain. My eyes became watery and tears starts to drop.

Ya Allah please grant me this favour and let them both come out safe.

She continues to push and then that's when I heard the sound. That sound.

The nurses smile in victory. as the doctor is also surprised but smiles in success. Anything is possible if you just believe in Allah.

And the mother of my children just taught me that.

"Alhamdulilah," Hatina sighs tiredly. I watch as the baby cries and she pushes finally for the baby to be extracted.

"It’s a girl," The doctor says.

I become speechless just looking at my child, while the tears still dropping. So raw and so beautiful.

I watch as the nurse wraps a towel around the newborn, cleans her up and gives her to Hatina. Yes she's a girl and so beautiful. Her eyes still closed and her little lips pressed in a thin line as she is given to her mother.

I watch as she takes our child with so much love, even if she is looking so tired and out of strength, she still manages to speak.

"Annur you see Allah has done it we're both fine. We're all fine." She looks at me with so much love as the tears drop again. The nurses clean her up as they all congratulate us before they leave.

And I am still speechless.

"Here," She says giving me my daughter. I can't believe I'm a father, Hatina has made me a father. Allah has granted me happiness.

"Hold her," I take our daughter carefully from her hands. She is tiny making me still I'm disbelieve that I just experienced her birth.

"She's beautiful," I say looking at my daughter.

"Yes she is. She has our hair," Hatina says. She does have our black, brown hair.

"Yes and she has your nose," I say back. "Indeed." She says as I smile.

"Hatina, thank you very much you've given me everything. You've made me believe in love again, in Allah, in patience, you've made my life complete. I don't know what would have become my life if you weren't in it, you changed me and I'm so thankful to Allah, without him none of this would have been possible." I say passionately.

"I love you so much, thank you for sticking by me, I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't been with me all these times, you've showed me what love is and I'm forever grateful. I'll be forever grateful to Allah for what he has done for us." Hatina speaks tiredly.

"Shh don't say anything. I love you too, both of you" I glance at our newborn. "Now what should we call her?" I ask.

"I want you to pick," She says as I stare at my little princess and think of just the perfect name to call her.

"Azraa," I speak.

"Azraa is beautiful," She says.

"It means pearl and pearls are rare and beautiful, just like her. A pearl that cannot vanish, she will always be with us forever." I say.

"InshaAllah." She repeats.

"Hatina thank you again. My love. My heart. My soulmate. My halal," I hold her hands in mine as our family just begins its journey.

Oh and we called the family to tell them about the joyous news and they're coming over.

Hatina's POV:

He called me his halal, because indeed, our journey is all about 'Being his halal'.
