Chapter 32

Annur's POV:

"Dad what's happening to her?" I ask furiously on the phone.

"She's awake, Annur Allah SWT has done it, he has showered us his mercy." Mom takes the phone from him as she talks to me.

A laugh escaped my lips. "I'm coming over immediately," I hang up rushing into the car and reaching the hospital in some minutes to meet my family.

I'm so disappointed in myself that when my wife woke up, I wasn't there because of how irresponsible I am, but now that she awake I'll become the man she wants me to be.

"Dad where is she?" I ask dad seeing him.

"She's in the room, they said we should let her rest but she's out of the coma Alhamdulillah." Dad says when I look to see the doctor coming.

"Congratulations Mr. Abubakar your wife is awake, safe and sound and the baby is also alright." The doctor smiles and I sighed in happiness.

"Thank you so much doctor, thank you I can't express how happy I am. Please can I see her, I won't wake her up, I just really need to see her," I tell the doctor.

"I'm not so sure Mr. Abubakar she needs her rest, but if you promise not to wake her then you're free to go." He says.

"Thank you." I shake him before rushing inside Hatina's wardroom.

Ya Allah it’s been so long since I've seen her. I see her lying on the bed with drip on her wrist, three or four stitches on her face, her writs still bruised, but I'm happy.

I go closer to her admiring my long-lost wife. oh God I've missed her a lot.

I continue to stare at her looking down to her tummy and staring at the half-grown tummy with so much love, my unborn child is inside there, Ya Allah I'm so happy. Alhamdulilah.

I remove my gaze from there and gradually take my hand to meet hers, I miss her touch, I miss everything of hers.

I caress her soft fingers and palms placing my two hands on her one hand and taking it up to my lips to give a warm kiss on it.

I continue to hold and caress her hand when I feel movements. Oh my God, she's wakening.

"Hatina," I speak softly as she opens her eyes. She opens them gradually and when she finally sees me clearly her eyes widen.

"Annur, Annur... I... Are you really here? How did I get here?" She asks holding my hands tightly.

"Yes I'm really here...I’m here..., you're safe and you're here with me. I'm never letting anything happen to you again, I'm so sorry... I let this happen to you. How you got here isn't important now baby, when you get better I'll explain every single detail, I'm just happy you're okay." I tell her with tears present in my eye.

"My love, it's so good to see you again, all the time she took me I was thinking of only you Annur and.." She says looking at her tummy and her eye becomes watery.

"How is...I...did I.. No... No..." She says stammering. Oh my God what does she think? Does she think she has lost it?

"Hatina everything is fine including the baby," I say and she stares at me with doubt. "I mean it." I tell her again as she begins to smile.

Oh God I've missed that smile.

I stare at her and she stares back then I move my lips down to her forehead to kiss her, while she looks at me like she wants to say something.

"Is anything the matter, are you hungry?" I say.

"No seeing you alone has quenched my hunger. Annur I know all those time when you said you loved me and I never said it back, I was too scared to tell you, I've loved you since the day we got married but I thought your love for me will quench once I tell you, I love you so much I don't want to ever lose you or our baby." Hatina says.

So that's why she never replied whenever I told her I love her. I love her with all my life I can't do anything without her, she's my soul, my heartbeat, everything in me, she made me believe in love, made me have faith in Allah SWT, she changed me.

"Hatina I love you too, I love you more with all my heart and don't ever leave me, the both of you should never leave me." I say touching her and my unborn child.

She smiles after I say that and we stares at each other sharing all our emotions together. She puts a hand on my face as she caress it while I lean into her touch.

"How is everyone? I hope they aren't too worried?" she asks.

"They were worried, but now they're all calm now, let me call them" I say but she stops me.

"No Annur please don't leave me." She stops me.

"I will never ever leave you and that's a promise." I say assuring her and it’s the truth, I will never leave the woman I love.

"Do you even know how many months you are?" I ask her taking a seat back. "No, I can't remember." She says. laughing.

"I'll tell you, you're six weeks away" I tell her caressing her cheek.

"Wow, I still can't believe this is happening. Annur I didn't want you to find out this way, I wanted it to be me who told you, I wanted to see the happiness in your eyes when I told you, and am so sorry I disobeyed you, if I had just..." she begins.

"Shhhh, stop," I move closer to her. "It's not your fault. See my face right now, I'm happier than I've ever been in my life, just seeing you, you're all that matters, the both of you " I put a hand on her tummy. "Just please promise me something." I tell her.

"What is it?" She asks.

"Promise me you'll always be smiling and never leave me, no matter what," I say.

"Annur I will never ever leave you and I promise to always smile." She giggles.

"I love you my habiti." I say. "I love you too." I tell her.

"Hatina, oh my God alhamdulillah you're awake." Mom says coming in, followed with the rest of the family.

"Assalam Mom, I hope I didn't worry anyone too much?" Hatina says. "Hatina you scared us all," Faiza cuts in.

"Sis don't do that again please," Faiz says. "Are you okay now my child," Dad asks.

"Hatina, are you okay?" Uncle calls staring at his daughter. They all ask and say a lot of things.

"Wait how did you all know she was awake?" I ask them wandering.

"Well we saw you go in and you didn't come out so we decided to come and check on you," Faiza says.

"I'm fine everyone as you can see, thank you all, you all stood by me and I am so grateful." Hatina says.

"We should be thanking you for not leaving us," I say to which she gives that her beautiful smile.

"Where's Umma?" She asks to which we hear a loud thud then we all look to see Hatina's mom is shocked.

"Hat..ina," Aunt murmurs.

"Umma," Hatina says with watery eyes.

"I'm so sorry this is all my fault if..." Aunt begins to say to which Hatina cuts her off.

"Umma don't please, It’s not your fault Allah wished it this way, so please do not blame yourself." Hatina says.

"I'm so sorry I..." Aunt starts before Dad gives us a signal to let the two of them talk alone, so we have to leave.

"If you need me I'm outside," I tell her to which she nods in agreement. Hatina's POV:

"Umma please don't say that, none of these is your fault please do not cry if you do I'll cry too," I tell Umma.

When I opened my eyes there was a figure in front of me, it looked like Annur but I wasn't sure, I had to widen my eye to know I'm wasn't dreaming.

It was so good seeing him. I missed him so much but alhamdulilah, Allah returned me to my family and I finally told him how I felt. I wonder what happened to Hani and the others though.

I will never seize to be surprised by Haleema whom I loved like a sister, she was my best friend and if anyone could have told me that she could do something like that, I'll never believe it. We shared every single thing and now she says it’s always been only me.

I don't know what made her think that, but I'll find her and ask her, she owes me an explanation.

"Hatina, I know I've always treated you badly but you never retaliated, you were always so kindhearted, your soft heart which people always broke, but you never gave up instead you still believed. I thought treating you the way I did was the best way because when I had Khalid you were always so nice to him, but all of a sudden you changed so I thought you didn't love him and so I decided to treat you that way, thinking you were jealous of him and now I realize, I was just a bad mother to you. I pushed you away, chose among my children which is the worst thing, I tell you wallah, it's the worst thing a mother could do to her child, I'm really sorry Hatina." Umma says.

"Umma I never changed to him, I was still a teenager then, and I had different things going on inside me and I had no one to talk. The bullies in school and many others, I wanted to tell you but you never gave me the chance to but I always loved Khalid, I love him, he's my brother." I say.

Yes I had so many things on me, I had so many hormones secreted in me, and I was going through a rough patch, but I never once treated him badly. I was all alone, Khadijah in school and Umma never had the time for me, nor gave me the chance to ever talk to her at that time. Which was when I needed my mother the most.

I got bullied, treated like I was trash, and no one was there to take my back.

"I'm sorry I was not there for you. The past event have made me realized something, never judge by action but by intention and you made me realizes that, I love you my daughter." Umma says which makes tears roll out my eye, it’s been very long since she said that. But she's right never judge by action but by intention.

"I love you too Umma." I say and we both share a mother daughter hug. I miss her so much.

"Let me call your husband now for you, do you know he was going crazy while you were away, he wasn't himself," Umma says. "He loves you so much Hatina, and I wish you two a happy life InshaAllah."

"Ameen Umma, thank you very much and I love him too." I reply blushing. "I'm happy to hear you say that. Before I do, congratulations my dear, you're going to become a mother."

"Umma," I hug her close, crying to her as the tears fell. "I can't do this without you, I don't even know the first step about motherhood,"

"That's why you have me, I'll be there throughout it all. No worries " She hugs me tight. "Now let me call that man of yours, In sure he's probably going crazy again," Umma laughs before she leaves.

It's so good to finally be able to talk to her this way. "Hey," Annur says coming in.

"Hey, I heard you were going crazy while I wasn't here," I say.

"Well what could I have done? You weren't with me, of course I went more than crazy," Annur says and I laugh.

"Annur what of Hani and the others?" I ask. That reminds me what of Alex? He really helped me a lot, I can't let him suffer.

"Why are you asking for them, they are heartless creatures." He says with his fist stiffened.

"Annur, calm down please, I just want to know." I ask.

"They are all locked up and that's where they will rot in," Anger flares his voice but he calms down as I touch him.

"Annur, stop it’s not okay to pray bad for someone else. What of Alex?" I ask.

"Wallah Hatina, you're too kind, too good for this world and that's why people like them need to suffer. As for Alex he's locked up with them, what do you expect?" He says.

"Annur he helped me when I was there," I tell him.

"How? What do you mean?" He asks and I tell him everything alto which he is surprised.

"But still he was part of the act," Annur says. "It want his fault," I tell him.

"Fine what do you want?" He asks. "Is there any way to get him free?"

"What! Are you serious right now, you want him free?" He ask angrily. "Annur please, it’s the least we could do," I tell him.

"I don't like this I swear, but fine I can only go for reduction of his sentence. I swear if it isn't for you, they will all rot in there, that's my promise. And I tell you you're too good for this world, they don't deserve you." He says.

"Then it’s okay by me," I say.

"Okay then gets some rests, you need it." He says as he leans closer to kiss my lip. He kisses me but stop immediately.

"If I go further I won't be able to control myself, just rest I'll be right here with you." He says as he takes my hand and kiss it.

"Okay." I say as I go to rest. I wanted him to deepen it more, but I'm not strong enough yet. Still I appreciate anything I've gotten for now, at least, my light (Annur) is back to me.
