Chapter 88
“How did you sleep last night?” Frederick asked.
Elodre's response was a faint smile and Frederick smiled back.
“Look,” I just want you to be okay. Things will fall back in place.”
But it doesn't look like it will when she's no longer with her husband.
Sitting on the bed, he studied her for a while and sighed. He knows what she's thinking. No woman can be happy in such a situation. “I gotta go now, Elodre. Feel free to prepare what you like whenever you're ready. Make sure to have breakfast to your satisfaction, okay?”
She smiled faintly. Her eyes were dim. “Th…thank you, Frederick. You're so kind.” She was fighting hard to stifle her cry.
He nodded and said, “My pleasure,” Smiling down at her, he arose from the bed. “Catch ya later!”
“Yeah,” Her voice wasn't less than a whisper.
In his well-pressed shirt, pants, and polished glittery black shoes, he walked out of the room and shut the door mildly.
And Elodre let out a quivering sigh. She's still in shock at the reality she's living in. The reality of a divorce. Divorce?! Cayden has finally divorced her! This has been one of her worst nightmares since the day Jasmine shared her story.
And now she's living in the nightmare of a divorce! She wept bitterly. Cayden had kicked her outta his home which is equivalent to a divorce. He's divorced her at last.
“Oh, Cayden…” She whimpered, rolling restlessly on the bed in agony.

Engrossed in his laptop, Frederick picked up the mug of coffee from his sleek table and sipped it. Yet, the scenario with Elodre was floating in his head, distracting him. He just couldn't take her off his mind.
Hell! He was with Cayden's wife?! This is a nightmare cause Cayden would surely kill him if he found out. No one dares tamper with the Brooks’ property. God knows he was only tryna help.
Damn! He must talk to…
“Hey, dude!” The voice of one of his female colleagues broke into his thoughts as she opened the door, popping her head in. “Boss is here.” She winked at him.
“Oh,” He smiled at her. “Thank you, Katty. Thought it won't ring a bell.”
“Fuck you, Fred,” Katty said and shut the door mildly.
Frederick sighed.

“Fred?” The boss said as Frederick entered his office and shut the door. “Why're you here so early? The time scheduled for the meeting has been adjusted to one o'clock on the nose.”
“It's not about the meeting, boss,” Frederick stood before his boss’ table.
“What's it about, then?” The boss raised a brow.
“It's about Elodre,” Frederick said.
“Elodre?” He just wanted to be sure he heard the right name.
“Yes, Mr. Brook's wife,” Frederick said. “She's in my home right now.”
And his boss looked puzzled. “Elodre Brooks?”
“Yes, Elodre Brooks,” Frederick said. “Never knew until she told me.”
“And you said she's at your place? How come?”
“On my way home at midnight I saw her wandering in the storm and I decided to help.” Frederick shrugged.
That cracked his boss up and he chuckled. “Nah, Fred, you must have mistaken someone else for Elodre. We both know Cayden wouldn't let that happen…especially with his kid, comm'n.”
“She's blonde, isn't she?” Frederick said. “She's those glittery gray eyes and stringy blond hair.”
Exactly! The boss thought. Damn! That's so weird.
“She was stranded,” Frederick continued.
“Stranded?” The boss raised a brow. “What do you mean?”
“She said she was kicked out by Mr. Brooks…”
“Seriously, Fred?”
“Yeah,” Frederick said.
“You must be fuckin kidding me right now.” The boss was astonished by that.
“No, boss,” Frederick said. “I ain't kidding. God knows I would have left her there if I'd known she was Mr. Brooks’ wife. I'd fallen victim to his rage once and I don't want that to happen again.” Frederick was nervous. “I swear, boss.”
“Hmm,” The boss sighed. The shock was flashing in his eyes. “So, what are you gonna do? What's on your mind?”
“Frankly, I dunno,” Frederick said. “But I really wanna do away with her.”
The boss snickered for some reason. So Elodre, the billionaire's wife got kicked out by her husband? He scoffed.
“I think she should get a job then,” Frederick said.
And his boss nodded. “I'd be leaving for Canada soon. What about her coming to be my secretary?”
Frederick didn't know what to think about that.
“After all she doesn't have a choice. Does she?” The boss said.
“It might be rocket science to convince Elodre about that though.”
“Tell her it's what it’s,” The boss said. “It's either she comes to work me or goes back to Cayden!” He smirked
