I could hear his loud growl coming from the next room. I covered my ears as it was so loud, it felt like my eardrums were about to burst. Why was he growling so loudly? I wondered, feeling like something was wrong.
Slowly, I made my way over to my room door, opened it, and walked into the big hall. As I turned to walk towards his room, I stood there, feeling scared to open it.
Taking a deep breath, I moved closer to his door, held the handle, and stood there for what felt like an eternity. His growls still echoed through the walls, and for a moment, I thought the entire house would collapse if he didn't stop.
Finally, I summoned the courage to slowly open the door, and I saw him laying on the floor, growling. I ran up to him and placed my hands on his chest, feeling his heart beating erratically. His eyes were becoming dark, and I could sense his pain.
"Beast, Beast," I yelled out his name, but all he did was push me away.
"Get away from me!" he yelled, moving away from me and turning to walk away. I tried to move closer to him, but he held out his hand to stop me and turned his face away.
"You have to get out of here," he yelled, still in pain. "Go to your room and don't come out."
Just seeing him in that state made me feel like crying. I don't know why, but I felt a sense of sadness just looking at him. It was as if the Goddess was pushing him towards something he couldn't control, like a wild animal backed into a corner.
I burst out of his room and fled to the library, my tears blurring my vision. The mere thought of his suffering filled me with overwhelming pity. Even now, his growling echoed in my ears, but I clapped my hands over them, trying to shut out the haunting sound.
Eventually, I drifted off to sleep, only to awaken to a serene environment. I sat up and looked around, realizing that I was no longer in my own room. As I turned my head, I spotted him, perched near the bed. Fear gripped me, and I recoiled slightly.
He gazed at me with apologetic eyes, and as I stared back, I noticed his eyes had reverted to their original brown color.
As he spoke, I took in my surroundings and recognized that I was in the very room he had forbidden me to enter. Tentatively, I rose from the bed and walked over to him, settling beside him.
As we locked gazes, I felt drawn to him. I reached out to touch his face, savoring the sensation of his smooth skin beneath my fingertips.
Slowly, I pull my hands back down, looking up at him with a thoughtful confusion flowing through me.
"What happened?" I ask him, trying to understand the reason for his pain and why he had to growl so loud. I take a step closer, my eyes scanning his large, muscular body.
He looks at me and moves his face away, turning around with a heavy breath coming out from him. I feel a pang of worry in my chest as he speaks.
"Why don't you go home for now? When I need you, I will bring you back." His voice is gruff and low, and I can hear the pain in his words.
I stare at him for a second, even though his back is facing me. "Was he serious?" I move closer to him, as if my body is trying to make contact with his fur body. I want to feel the roughness of his skin against mine.
The way he speaks makes me know that something is definitely wrong. I move my hands forward so I could touch him, but I stop and pull my hands back down.
"Why do you want me to leave?" I ask him, trying to understand the reason for his decision so soon. Was he already tired of me? My mind races with thoughts.
I sat waiting for his response, but all I get is silence. I feel anger boiling deep inside of me as he doesn't say anything.
"Why did he bring me here if he knows he was just going to send me back in a week later, and what the fuck is happening that he doesn't want to share with me?" I mutter to myself, my mind racing with questions.
I move in front of him as his brown eyes stare into mine. I want to get to know this beast that everyone is scared of, and why. "Why do you want me to go?" I ask again, this time pleading as I wait for his response. He still doesn't say anything and tries to walk away, but I grab his hand and stop him in his tracks.
I look up at him, searching for answers. The silence between us is deafening, but I refuse to let him walk away without explaining himself.
"Why?" I asked softly, my voice barely more than a whisper. I needed to know what was happening and why he wanted to send me home so soon. He turned around, taking in my expression, and after a moment of silence, he spoke.
"In two days' time, the full moon will rise. When it does, I will become a full wolf beast, and it will be painful to see you get hurt. I just don't want that," he said, his voice tinged with sadness.
I could hear the pain in his tone and felt a pang of sadness myself. "Was that the reason why all your mates rejected you? Because they noticed the kind of true beast you really are?" I asked, hoping to understand him better.
He nodded, looking at me with a worried expression and moving closer to me. "Please mate, I just don't want you to leave me," he said, his voice making me want to cry for him. Was he really a beast, suffering for a sin he committed?
I placed my two hands in his, feeling the fur under my fingertips. I lifted his hand up, studying it closely, trying to understand what was happening between us. As I closed my eyes, I felt the softness of his fur against my face, and when I opened them again, they had turned blue.
"I'm not going anywhere," I whispered, seeing the shock on his face. "I want to stay with you and help you."
The air was thick with emotion as I took in the sight of him, his fur shifting and his eyes filled with pain. I could hear the rustling of leaves and the distant howl of a wolf in the night.
As I reached out to touch him, I felt the electricity between us, the connection growing stronger with each passing moment. I knew I had to help him, to be there for him, even if it meant facing the beast within him.
He looked at me, his eyes filled with gratitude, and I knew that we would face whatever came our way together. I was his mate, and I was willing to do whatever it took to help him through this difficult time.
